Jumped thru all the hoops. Sent I'd pictures. Spoke with video call worker and I still cannot access my social security account
As soon as I enter my name and PW, I am immediately told I cannot access my account online. And, that I must call your offices, That is garbage! Why do you even have an online service?
Understanding the instructions and having the setup process move forward was very frustrating. Initial access to even set up the account took multiple attempts. Based on the challenges to get through the process, I do not trust the integrity of using ID.me.

The first ID.me process of creating the account can be difficult and troublesome. You have to go through a long process of steps for customer support to verify your identity through photo id and webcam. However, once you have created an account, ID.me is very simple and easy to use for federal and state government business. So far, I haven't had any problems using the ID.me account.

I was successful with ID.me whereas I was not successful with Login.gov. After failing at Login.gov (maybe it didn't like my cell phone # which is mine but bills go to my spouse, or maybe it didn't like my zip code because my mailing address zip is different than my town's zip because that's the way the post office delivers to my neighborhood), I called the SSA phone # off of a recent mailing and got an agent to help me, who suggested ID.me.
Easy to use. Friendly and helpful. Within a half hour I had accomplished something with their help that would have taken me an entire day to accomplish had I done it in person. I appreciate their help and friendliness.
