I used ID.me to verify my identity. My personal documents were transferred using a link to the ID.me center where they were reviewed. Once the review was complete, I was invited to video call with the ID.me center. During the video call I held up the documents transferred previously, verified my information with a live person and was told I was now verified and would be able to use the IRS site for my taxes.

It took 2 hours to get to the point of supplying my driver license. I was told that there was something wrong. Today I went back in to continue the process and the system makes you start from the beginning. I chose to have help through the chat. It took another 2 hours to finally get everything completed. The people helping me with the chat were great, the rep that helped me with the online visit was also wonderful. The system might be great for those that know it or do not have problems but it is really badly designed for when womething goes wrong.

Tried multiple times to use the selfie tab using my phone and each time it stalled and did not finish. Using a video chat agent was actually pretty quick. The only thing I had to do beforehand was figure out which documents to use and to properly scan them in so they could be uploaded. The agent was friendly and it did not take long once it started. I recommend the chat.
