Beware. Safer to go on Airbnb... I would steer clear of any site where you have an experience with an inaccurate listing, and if they force you to sign the lease before moving-in even though the lease states you've seen the place already and everything is fine in the listing. I had a negative experience with Housing Anywhere from the beginning: the communication was unhelpful and I have proof (before and after) that they changed the photos of a room in an apartment I booked after I moved in and complained about it being an inaccurate listing.
Please avoid this webside (better to have an rbnb). I had a bad experience with this website, the landlrod changed the conditions and obliged to sign a contract with condition the were not show up at the beginning and still housinganywhre did not care as they refused to refund me and telling me basically that they don't care. So for the landlord, i am not entitled of the room as i did not sign the contract but still housing anywhere refuse to refunds me.
Same comment as this other one I would advise to avoid renting a room using this platform, since they do not protect you from getting scammed.
Please be aware, they told us in 48 hours charge will be canceled but that never hapenned.
Be careful! There are people *******@housinganywhere offering apartments that are not even available! You pay 26€/2 weeks or 34€/1month just to contact the landlord for an apartment that has never been available. I asked customer service for a refund. All I got was an information on how to cancel my subscription. So I paid twice the subscription fee (total 60€) to contact fraudulent landlords that do not even have the apartment available and HousingAnywhere does nothing to protect customers! What a shame!
Its a complete scam of a housing platform. You are asked to subscribe to the website only to get declined by the "advertiser" even when the property is available. There is not a substantial reason that they give while declining the prospect tenant. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time and money on a platform like this one. Good luck!
! A FUIRRRR!
CEST HONTEUX! Ne réservez jamais sur ce site!
Please avoid paying this silly 26 EUR. Basically you get only few unavailable properties and there is no guarantee that someone will take responsibility. They don't have support. Maybe only good for students. Strongly non recommended.
Communication with advertisers is frustrating and there is not much the account managers at HousingAnywhere can do to address the lack of communication and/or protect potential renters from changes in rental prices after an offer has been accepted. The first advertiser I interacted with accepted the offer and agreed to a change in the initial dates (due to my arrival flight getting canceled and rescheduled for one day later). But then without notice, he re-listed the property, rejected the offer that was initially accepted and re-listed the property as available but increased the monthly rate by 200 euros. The second advertiser sent multiple messages saying an offer would be sent w/in a few days (even when I asked if I should consider other offers out of fear the property wouldn't actually be available in time of for my arrival). After sending all the information about the listing and discussing next steps, he suddenly stopped responded for over 7 days and the property was suddenly listed as "not available." It is completely understandable that prices or status of availability changes quickly with properties but the lack of communication and/or communication of misleading information is incredibly frustrating and there is nothing HousingAnywhere can do to safeguard that part of the process.
I booked an apartment through housinganywhere trusting in their 48h cancellation policy. As advertised you have 48 hours to check the condition of the apartment and if it is not as advertised, you get your money back. Nothing could be further from the truth. When I arrived at the rented apartment, it looked like a building in ruins (garbage in the staircase, abandoned furniture, doors broken down).
I requested the cancellation that same day and I have been calling and texting for 15 days to get my money back. The answer they give is that it is not a sufficient reason. So, don't trust renting through here, better other platforms that do have coverage for these cases. I have lost the money I paid in advance.
The payment was made and money was deducted from my account, but the status of my request on the site was still waiting for payment. I lost the studio... and after two months I was able to get my money back after lots of follow up. They didn't even apologize! Absolutely scammer!
They took €1250 from me although I couldn't move in because the room literally had no lights. They were super unhelpful and just flashed their dodgy cancellation policy. Big mistake and will never use them or recommend them to anyone again!
I contacted them and the reassured me that a landlord was reliable so I went ahead and booked a room in an apartment. After booking I received the invoice that briefly mentioned the company that the landlord was from. When i googled this company, all i could find were negative reviews. They consisted of people not receiving their deposits back and being unable to contact the company. Also that the apartments were often in poor states with worm and mice infestations. It was commonly discussed that the landlords response time is super quick until you had booked the apartment. I decided to cancel which you have the option to do so withing 24 hours to receive the rent back with some places, but you still have to pay housing anywhere 200 euro service fee for setting you up with a bad situation.
Based on my personal experience
FOR THOSE WHO NEED LEASE AGREEMENT FOR VISA, Please get confirmation from owner that you need that..
This extremely unreliable and breach of contract person has now been written to for the 6th time by HousingAnywhere. Nothing happens on the part of the defaulting tenant.
Now HousingAnywhere (HA) has contacted me with the statement that I have the contract with the tenant and not with them. Therefore, they can do nothing further. However, I have the contract with the platform and now feel left alone. Unfortunately HA is so cheeky and takes their fee right away in full with the first month's rent. If a problem then arises, they are fine. I will never book or rent anything through HousingAnywhere again.
I rented a room in Athens for my daughter starting in March. On the website description, it is written that the apartment is located "in the heart of a vibrant neighborhood,". It was totally misleading. We arrived in Athens and went to see the neighborhood of the apartment: Junkies, prostitutes, homeless everywhere and strange men wandering the streets. The neighborhood is totally unsafe for a young girl alone and this feeling has been confirmed by all the locals we met. I asked mid-February to cancel the booking for security reason (first rent has not yet being paid to the landlord), it has been refused: safety of young girl is not a valid reason as per the Terms & Conditions. I never received the contract from the landlord to whom I had precised in my first contact that I was looking for a safe neighborhood. I do not recommend this website: you pay one month, the website fee and no guaranty!
This was my worst experiment about renting a room. I had to pay way too much for the cleaning services and compared to the money nothing actually happened. My room and even the shared areas were disgusting and everytime I wanted a personal appointment to talk about something which I am bothered I always got refused. I do not feel like I got some kind of help in anything and they were a 100% unpersonal because they did not show me the house and they did not apear in my departure as well. Only 1 time I saw somebody when I collected my keys...
I do not recommend to anyone!
Oh, and I almost forget to mention that I asked a lot of time to extend my staying and in the end they said they did not get anything from their platform and I had to leave my room in the middle of the month and go to a hostel while I was paying for the whole month!
When we got there it didn't take long to see that the building wasn't in a good condition (there was a lot of rubbish inside big plastic bags next to the front door). When we stepped into the apartment, the floor was so dirty it was sticky (not only in the common areas, but also in the room that was supposed to be mine and theoretically had been cleaned that same afternoon). The room wasn't as the pictures showed, there wasn't even the desk that the pictures showed, and not only was the floor dirty, but also the walls and the door. The bathroom had mold on different surfaces and there's poor water pressure. The kitchen was disgusting, it was messy, and so dirty that there were flies and other insects all over the room.
The man that I was in touch with from the company blocked me, and didn't take responsibility of the situation.
So far so good. Found my flat using this platforms. The 48 hrs guarantee period is higher than what other websites offer.
PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM!
Recently, I booked an apartment in Berlin from another scam company called "Under Ground" through the HousingAnywhere platform. The move-in day came, and I did not get the key from the landlord (Urban Ground). They ghosted me, and stopped responding my emails.
I then contacted HousingAnywhere for a refund and they ignored. I told them the landlord literally did not give me the keys and didnt allow me to enter the apartment. He also wasn't responding my emails.
HousingAnywhere did then what it has always done. They ignored me and they now also don't answer me :D

Answer: Not safe. From their Terms and Conditions: Each user must independently verify the identity of his/her respective contract partner (the tenant in case of the provider or the provider in case of the tenant). HousingAnywhere.com accepts no liability for the accuracy of the user contact information entered on the platform. Also, they say they give money back within 48 hour, but it's not so simple and quick!
Answer: It is a scam. The landlords are unscrupulous. You will never get a refund or your deposit back.
