I would suggest you to have a 24/7 support on call facility, to enhance service quality and faster troubleshooting.
I had to submit documentation a total of three times. No where in the instructions did it say an electronic signature was not permitted, and I was told to blur out my debit card information on the actual card but had to provide the number on paper? That doesn't make any sense.
It took less than 24 hours from placing the order to getting the email that the server was ready to go. However, login credentials were provided in an email instead of adding the info to my account with them. This is a minor issue since the account they provided has been disabled already but it is not a good model.
My experience with Hostwinds is almost half year for now, but I am already sure that I'll stay with them for long term. That is because they have shown me their high skills in server administration and I see they can handle any issue quickly. My websites with them are up, loading quickly and software is always updated and properly adjusted for working like a clock. Their techies are skilled enough and available almost always.
I use Hostwinds shared hosting services and I have to say that I'm almost satisfied: no uptime, fast servers, good price. Support appeared a bit slow in solving issues. But I think that is okay for that type of services I'm getting.
I picked this service because I am inexperienced and they advertised site building software, Webby, I think. There are absolutely no instructions on how and where to start. You would think that they would at least refer to some place that would help. I paid a year in advance and unless I find something I missed before, I will be attempting to get my $ back.
Great products, service and quick responses. I'm very happy with the experience so far. The only negative aspect was that the pricing for the service listed both included and optional features, and I did not catch the difference in the language used (features included vs features offered). Besides that, the list of options available allowed me to tailor what I wanted and select my favorite OS.

Your renewal message is too vague. If you have it set up to be automatically renewed, the heads up message should read "your renewal will happen automatically," NOT "it's going to expire, renew today."

Uptime. I track my websites stability all the time and can share my statistics it is 99.99% and 100% for last month. There also were no network outages or packet loss monitored.
Support. I am skilled enough to manage my website, but I submitted 10 tickets connected with questions regarding their services, like database limits, mail servers and so on. I have received clear detailed reply approximately in 5-10 minutes.

I used to be with another web host and they charged about 3 times more and had less than 20% of the features these guys currently have. Hostwinds have been a generally excellent host. Their prices on dedicated servers are unbeatable, and their recovery tool is not only useful as such, but enables you to self-install any version of linux onto the server. All of that being said, my website has never gone down and the speeds from Hostwinds servers are very good. You get plenty of space and bandwidth and I had no problem installing various scripts to my site. There was one slight problem a year or so ago where a few of my files magically disappeared.
I had some issues with redirecting my domain while maintaining my email and hosting services with Hostwinds. All of their support personnel are amazing. They are knowledgeable, kind and helpful. No matter what my concerns have been throughout my three months with them, I have always received the best customer support ever. My thanks to all that are there to provide excellent service.
I decided to switch over to what I thought was a better hosting company. WRONG! I went to migrate over some websites and they switched up the migration with one domain information being put in another domain and then losing information.
It took 4 days to fix it. I had a plan with 2 TB of bandwidth which is plenty for me. WRONG AGAIN!
Day 8 I was at 3.84 TB of data, Day 9 5.36
It was a server attack that I am now being billed for.
