My experience has been very good up until I renewed my hosting. Instead of the time being added to my current account, a new one was created. I've called numerous times and no one was able to figure out what happened or resolve the issue. So I paid or a three year hosting account for nothing.
The Dashboard of my WP website kept saying that PHP number must be above 7.3. After three or four calls to HostGator, each time a tech crew making changes to the PHP number, WP still showed the same warning. Finally, I tried myself to change the number by following the instructions on Cpanel. However, the choice didn't include the number 7.4 which I needed. So, I chose 8.1, the smallest in the list. That ended up messing up my site, and I panicked. WP support told me I needed contact Hostgator.
So, I did. Someone on the tec crew worked on the problem, and a few minutes later, my website came alive again! Thank you so much.
The PHP need to be updated for my site. I called the help desk and they updated everything. They were very curious and helpful.
Reliable hosting, but it can be a bit confusing. All in all good service as any questions I come up with are answered promptly.

The price is great. A substantial saving from my previous host. There was a problem with how they communicated the use of a form though. They repeatedly sent me a form related to site migration and I repeatedly filled it out. However, there was no send button or link. I ultimately contact service and found out they wanted the desired information sent to them via email reply. This begs the question, why send a form with spaces for answers when the form can't be submitted? This was unclear and bothersome.
Not entirely happy as I was sent emails that I had 45 days after domain and service expiration to renew and lose content, only to find out that everything was lost anyway. The communication was absolutely incorrect as I had lost all of my website content and all of my emails associated with the account. However, the customer service was at least knowledgeable in getting me back online at the least, but I still had to start from scratch.
Other than that, it is a bit cumbersome to use. Too many places to log into, too many log in credentials to keep track of and having to reset your password too often.
I'm staying with Host Gator anyway because the functionality is good overall and I'm already used to it.
Got my WordPress site set up quickly and even had a login issue but was Able to get in from your control panel

Most of our customers enjoy our website. The only issue we have is when it comes to submitting an application. Sometimes there is a glitch and it will not submit and people have to try several times. Other than that. I think the customer service works great and the website is always easy to find.
Had an issue with pics not loading for mobile sites but was quickly resolved by support staff. Very pleased with the service
The individual I spoke with was very helpful and professional. I was questioning charges on our account that did not relate to us. She easily assisted me by answering all my questions and deleting the charges.
Since they have upgraded servers my email forwards do not work and no one has ever been able to repair them due to change in software to a lesser mail app. I have been with Hostgator for over 30 years and always they have handled such things and made sure they got fixed. I have had to scramble to fix and patch and piece together ways for my clients to continue to receive their forwarded alias emails. All that and my rates have continued to go up almost every year lately. Yes disappointed.
For several years, HostGator provided me with an excellent service to host my domain and everything that came with it. At some point last year, I began to be charged double the monthly subscription fee without warning. Moreover, this fee had increased by 10$. I never received a refund or any legitimate reasoning or apology for why this occurred. After seven years, I've chosen to leave and take my business elsewhere.

Answer: If you go straight to smartchat, it is very easy - you only need to find the smartchat button. I have worked with the Internet since web browsers were invented, so I know most of the answers already. That means that when I have a problem that I can't solve, it is going to be a real stinker for HostGator support to solve - I only bring them the difficult ones. Recently, I had an ISP who gave me terrible service, and the internet kept dropping out every few minutes. The Hostgator smartchat expert kept contact with me on and of for about an hour and three quarters until he had worked out the answer for me. That is what I call RELIABLE service.
