I choose hostgator over a decade ago because of the easy use and navigation of the control panel and competitive pricing. However I find the change in hostgators dashboard much harder to navigate and find necessary items. Years ago, I would have given hostgator five stars.

I've had this hosting service for months, and every time I come to do something I hit a brick wall. This time it is setting up an Outlook mailbox. I have copied and pasted everything from the instructions I was provided, but I keep getting a server error--both on the Outlook app and in my Cpanel. I've never had so much trouble setting up a website and accompanying emails as I have with HostGator.
Time for support. The average support call based on the 7 calls that I have completed is 37 mins. Way to long. Most of the techs cannot resolve the call on their own and have to reach out to other groups to resolve the issue.
My domain was deactivated because I didn't verify my email. I really thought my email was already verified since all my billing info an other notifications were going to my inbox. There should be an initial verification process to avoid this kind of misunderstanding. Other than that this service is great so far. I wish I didn't have to wait up to 48 hours for my domain to re-register, this is the worse possible time to be down due to being the last working week before the holiday this month.

Fraudulent company. They will not listen to you but will be quick to listen if you want to pay them to sabotage your competitor. If you have a website please DON'T host here. They will be ready to take money from your competitors and ask them to pay. When you come asking why your website was suspended they will close the chats and not even pick your calls.
They suspended my website and asked me to pay $5000 if i wanted if to be activated. Fortunately, I had a backup. It if didn't have i was almost paying.
I have attempted to resolve several issues with my account and my websites. You will see several call logs and chats. I'm reaching a point that I'm thinking of pulling everything off HostGate altogether and tell my friends/business associates to avoid your service altogether.
Hostgator was great when I started however many years ago, but the price almost doubled and it's not worth it anymore, I didn't notice a notification on the price increase, but it doesn't matter - I'm gone.
HostGator is like some; others - using cPanel. This is I feel is the best way to fully utilize the functionality and completeness of an install and full on support. Which brings me to support! Bar none; HostGator truely extends the use of the help desk functions and the individuals who are by the way quite knowledgeable. If you are using the chat function to resolve, add, move files what ever that may be fine. If it may be in the rehlm of other tech help in which your current help desk is unable to comply?; you are forwarded to that certain help desk person and - YES 99% of the time - you end up with issue / problem solved. HEY! Not everything ever goes right. As long as you can accept that - then, by all means; you will have landed the help you were looking for. With that said - HostGator is extremely reliable and certainly fully supportive of their customers. Enjoy your site choice and relax. They got you.

Everything you need to have your own web site, I think. If you understand web pages and domains then Hostgator is for you. If you're new to web pages and domains, maybe a class or two before looking for a host would be very wise as the Hostgator web site is very confusing.

Early I left an online review that was not positive for another online rep and it was perhaps too hasty. That rep offered me the CodeGuard which is what I needed (and later purchased with Cris's help), but I did not understand what the product was and grew impatient. Easy to set up and find tips to keep the site running. The only issue I had was with sitelock which is a 3rd part service that no one seems to be able to find a way around it but no problem with HostGator at any point and prices are very good too.
I was told last week that my DMARC record would be updated. I gave the gentleman the record, but didn't know how to input it. Anyway, I just checked and it's not been done. Going to attempt to do it now.
I raised a complaint through chat with customer service representative for the Domain decisionsupport.ae this is add missing features to my subscription package ( IP and SEO)

Misleading information on their website. I transferred my domain name to hostgator based on the i formation on their website offering email forwarding with domain purchase. I am been told that I must purchase a certain type of hosting to be able to use email forwarding with my domain. Twice I opened a ticket and was told that they fixed it. And at the end they told me to buy a hosting plan.
I have malware issues for over 2 week and have no control on the dashboards of my websites. I ordered a restore, and never got any answers to my emails. Furthermore, i connect the help team and was promised time after time that the restore is on the way, but no promise was kept.
New dashboard have many issues, even on payment time deducted payment many time. Because on payment click your page is not moving to next step and client feel this is not going to next if you click next time you can see 2 invoices on same time.
I face issue 2 time and one time after click I checked my invoice so there have one invoice but on dashboard its not going to next step.
Also your hostgator dashboard for all hosting we can't find with name of main domain name.

Answer: If you go straight to smartchat, it is very easy - you only need to find the smartchat button. I have worked with the Internet since web browsers were invented, so I know most of the answers already. That means that when I have a problem that I can't solve, it is going to be a real stinker for HostGator support to solve - I only bring them the difficult ones. Recently, I had an ISP who gave me terrible service, and the internet kept dropping out every few minutes. The Hostgator smartchat expert kept contact with me on and of for about an hour and three quarters until he had worked out the answer for me. That is what I call RELIABLE service.
