My site has been down multiple times and receiving 503 errors where it is unavailable to update the site. Also loading the site takes a while and the website does not have any heavy content.

I am going on the 5th call to get my emails. Administrative issues at Hostgator are seriously impacting my livelyhood. Would not recommend at this point. I have been a customer since 2008, but apparently not good enough to get some critical support.

Cheaper and popular at the time. The email options are not good. I cannot searh and clear my cache of unwanted spammers.
Price and ease of management were the main initial factors but the customer service via phone has been outstanding as well.

Simple and effective hosting service which offers a lot of options for your website.
Good experience on Hostgater. Just wish that the login was faster. Used to be able to click straight to cPanel - now got to go through other screens first. Also, it's a cumbersome task in phpAdmin to "Show All" in my lists - have to first go to settings and allow and only then can I choose "Show All". Also, it keeps resetting which is a bit aggravating - going through the same process every day...

Answer: If you go straight to smartchat, it is very easy - you only need to find the smartchat button. I have worked with the Internet since web browsers were invented, so I know most of the answers already. That means that when I have a problem that I can't solve, it is going to be a real stinker for HostGator support to solve - I only bring them the difficult ones. Recently, I had an ISP who gave me terrible service, and the internet kept dropping out every few minutes. The Hostgator smartchat expert kept contact with me on and of for about an hour and three quarters until he had worked out the answer for me. That is what I call RELIABLE service.
