Simple, helpful service...years ago. Terribly lacking in service, utility performance, and user experience in recent years though. Testing of releases must not be controlled, or the team does not use its own product and fails to see the flaws that cause so much frustration. I've taken the time to write reviews, I've reported user experience issues, and I've spoken to reps on the phone over the years. Never has a flaw or deficiency or other issue that I've reported been corrected.
Host Gator has the worst service and support possible! Their hosting is extremely slow, while their support is unprofessional! My websites are running very slow and whenever I call a support I get a random guy who doesn't have an idea what to do to solve the problem. If you email or try to talk to a senior position, you get promises that your website will run smoothly in a couple of hours, but at the end you only get empty promises. The slow hosting continues and you lose visitors/customers. Avoid them at all costs!
Before HostGator I paid exorbitant prices for hosting and bandwidth. After I got burned with my previous host I signed up with HostGator and have been very pleased for several years now. Customer service is excellent with real people available 24/7 either by phone or via IM chat. I have the business plan and am very satisfied with the services. Great Uptime and good speed. Reasonable pricing. Highly Recommend.
Service is good... Chat support is a bit uncomfortable, support is requested asking about the price of an SSL certificate and they ask me to identify myself, when I am already logged in and only need the price of the certificate, and on other occasions simple things that do not request changing passwords, modifications to accounts, just simple yes or no questions.
Setting up our domain email has been a nightmare. DND refuses to populate on 5/6 of US servers. We contacted help several times and weeks into our Business subscription we still are not receiving emails from clients.
At the time of signing up, I wanted to support a local Texas company and the cost of web hosting provided was affordable for me. Through all these years, I've have always been happy with HostGator service.
Hostgator service is great. The bad experience is every month when i come to pay and so many upsells show up hiding the 'no thanks' tiny link somewhere in the bottom, slowing the process of check out.
Your customer service (via live chat) have been wonderful and helped with everything I need in a timely manner. It feels like I have their undivided attention. They also do not make me feel like I am stupid or have done something stupid. VERY important
Originally it was because you all offered great features as well as great 24/7 support, but in the one month I've been here, everything has had problems getting working and the support has not been very helpful overall. I still have features I need help with and the last person I talked to told me they didn't know and to just wait for an email. The email never came. Not happy about being in a 3-year contract with HostGator because I don't look forward to dealing with all these stresses in that time. I was really looking forward to getting a hosting package with you guys too, because years ago when I first signed up with you guys before changing projects, you guys were awesome. Not sure what the heck changed but it's so much worse now.
Your new site sucks. Login doesn't work, doesn't recognize working 2 factor codes on safari. Site navigation organization sucks, not intuitive, if you hired a firm to design this new integration, fire them and start over.
I have been with HostGator a very long time, like 15 years. I also use SiteGround, but HG is less expensive. I like it in every way but speed. It seems to be slow. I know one of the issues is a video on my home page, but if the service were faster, that wouldn't matter, eh? It's just a snippet.
Impossible to get a straight answer out of Hostgator, they are not user-friendly and horrible to try to get anything accomplished with. Once you transfer your domain there is no going back for 60 days, so they have you over a barrel. I can't wait to go elsewhere. If there was a minus rating I would give it.

Your ENTIRE organization is the worst I've ever seen and I have taken hundreds of my sites, agencies I personally know as an influencer and everyone in between away from your horrible company. I would like nothing more than to see everyone wake up to how much of a joke you are. The happiest day for me is tomorrow Feb 23,2024 when my last domain with you expires and I am free to never have to call your incompetent company ever again to put out a fire that you yourselves have sparked. Literally tell everyone to run away! I've taken so much business away from you it's not even funny and I'll continue to do this till you go out of business.
The service is poor. First they motivate to get unlimited hosting and take lot of money. Later on when we park simple blogs, they put down the hosting. I subscribed for three years but hardly i used it for 6 months.
Did not liked new portal. I cant make manual payment. Restricted with automatic payment. Loosing money via PayPal due to auto payment.
Lost previous order history.
Chat support is $#*! too slow. Waste of lot of time.
Biggest unhappiness is not having new reseller plan. Too much Price hike for existing reseller plan
Although my intentions were for a small business... because I listed my phone number with HostGator... I've been attack with spam callers regarding my domain. I never had this issue with GoDaddy and will be returning to them from now on.
Price, features.
First call was wonderful and full of good info. Spoke with a young man obviously from US. Clear reception, no background chatter from other personnel.
Second call was awful. Poor reception, noisy staff in background, difficult to understand accent.

Since the beginning of December 2023, we have been systematically experiencing errors with the site; your team cannot or does not want to fix this problem. Soon we will be forced to abandon your hosting altogether
I am appalled at the lack of customer service from a reputable company like Hostgator. The absence of communication and the continued disruption to my services are inexcusable. I have diligently followed up on my case, only to be met with empty promises and no concrete resolution.

Answer: If you go straight to smartchat, it is very easy - you only need to find the smartchat button. I have worked with the Internet since web browsers were invented, so I know most of the answers already. That means that when I have a problem that I can't solve, it is going to be a real stinker for HostGator support to solve - I only bring them the difficult ones. Recently, I had an ISP who gave me terrible service, and the internet kept dropping out every few minutes. The Hostgator smartchat expert kept contact with me on and of for about an hour and three quarters until he had worked out the answer for me. That is what I call RELIABLE service.
