Although my intentions were for a small business... because I listed my phone number with HostGator... I've been attack with spam callers regarding my domain. I never had this issue with GoDaddy and will be returning to them from now on.
Great experience every time that I have contacted HostGator for support. This is a clear advantage over another hosting company I have used, where wait times are supposedly 60 minutes or more, and the callback option didn't work for me, anyway.

I have never experienced such as frail security setup as the servers at HostGator do, and it is leading me to believe that they're relationship with SiteLock is the reason why.
For over a decade I have used Hostgator, in some form or fashion, and still have a couple of low-maintenance sites on their plans. However, there are consistent Malware "issues", and during these "issues" I have been aggressively pushed to buy SiteLock, who uses scare tactics and misinformation to bilk customers who are panicked
I would guess that, given HostGator's partnership with Sitelock, that Hosgator earns revenue for each referral to SiteLock
I have NEVER had any of these kind of issues on other hosts, such as HostDime, BlueHost, AWS, Cloudways, Kinsta, WPEngine - but HostGator "security" seems fishy
I have filed a complaint with the FTC and hopefully they can explore deeper, but I am starting to think that something "off" is going on in regards to HostGator's server security, which is either flush with vulnerabilities, putting tons of customer websites in jeopardy OR is purposely setup for SiteLock opportunities to funnel in

Extremely problematic to refund payment on CC, 4 days after signing up without any prior explanation or warning - only to find out that the service was canceled. No notice on the email, I had to enter the support chat to get any information.

We have the Business Plan and the problems started immediately after activating our account. First there was problem with their SSL and then cdn. The built in CDN wasn't working and they were informed so many times about that. Site was constantly going down even on few hundred traffic. We suffered greatly from slow loading pages. Everytime their useless support reverted back to us their response was robotic. That it is new feature and they are slowly rolling that out to other business plans. Why would you offer that in your terms? We lost a great deal of marketing budget bcs of lack of performance of our website caused by hostgator. When I asked for the refund since they were unable to produce a solution they refused!
This is their level of service for a premium plan just imagine what they would be doing with small customers who are buying cheaper plans!

Sites were not receiving the SSL certs upon creation. The newest add account to my reseller account couldn't be accessed properly due to no cert. Tech Support Rep. Was respectful, helpful, and quick in resolving the issue. Have always had good experiences with Host Gator customer service and tech support.
I dialed tech support the other day. Anjali was my assistant. I had an issue with my SSL. Anjali was swift to assist and sort out my issue in no time. They went further and offered me invaluable advice on what I could do to permanently sort the issue and were more than helpful to offer workable options to my SSL problems. I was more than happy to have dealt with Anjali at Tech Support.
