I was promised a lot of leads for my business which wasn't true. There was a security breach on my account that was never resolved. The customer support is awful as you'll see in other people's reviews. They will take your money and don't care about your business at all.
Very unprofessional company, they act like fraudsters, trying to impersonate customers for small companies to show how their service is important. Most unprofessional company scam I have ever worked with!
I recently signed up for homestars with high hopes of finding consistent job opportunities for my startup business. Unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfactory. I am disappointed with the expensive monthly rates they charge without delivering on their promises.
During the initial discussions, i was assured that Homestars was a busy platform, offering a steady flow of leads with the potential for five jobs per week. However, in over two months of being a member, i have received a meager five jobs in total. To make matters worse, most of these jobs have been small-scale projects or client planning and researching that hardly justify the high subscription fees i am paying.
The lack of job opportunities has severely impacted my business, causing frustration and financial strain. I expected Homestars to provide a platform where i could connect with potential clients and secure meaningful projects. Regrettably, this has not been the case.
Moreover, the customer support has been unsatisfactory. When i reached out to express my concerns and disappointment. I received vague and unhelpful responses such as "we cannot cancel your contract without paying penalty" "your area was a busy area but now it is going slow" "you need reviews to get jobs", etc. The lack of transparency and effective communication from Homestars has only added to my frustration.
Considering the exorbitant monthly rates and the lack of promised job opportunities, I cannot recommend Homestars as a worthwhile investment for fellow contractors or service providers. The return on investment simply does not justify the cost, and their claims of providing a steady stream of jobs are far from accurate.
Just another pyramid sceam! They want to subscribe for 12 months an ridiculous amount. Friend of mine fell for it and paid 450$ a month. He didn't get any leads and after 3 months the called him and wanted him to subscribe again. My buddy told them he is already and wants leads, the homestar scammer hung up and that was it. They wanted 300$ of me, I said no than they said 200 $ but I have to subscribe now otherwise no discount. And they push so hard to sell there scam it's crazy. 10 email and 3 calls in like 3 hours.
This place sucks, they are scammers and are just looking to make money. Don't believe anything they tell you. DO NOT GET INTO CONTRACT WITH THEM BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY
They're very persistent and nice until they get you to sign a contract and if you have a problem or a question, they're nowhere to be found. If you're gonna work with these people, don't get fooled. One thing these people are amazing at are ignoring your concerns as well as your emails, calls...
Sergey was referred by friends of ours and how he looked after his parents.
Sergey fixed our dishwasher in January and then recently our stove.
On both occasions very professional, knowledgeable and efficient.
He had the parts with him and fixed both appliances.
I found him to be trustworthy, pleasant and certainly an excellent appliance technician.
He was referred to help my son in law's mother and again a great result.
I would refer him without hesitation.
I started with Homestars in 2018, did 3 or 4 years with them, won best of awards. It was ok for my business back then and they use to care about their contractor. I took a break for a year because the leads and service from them became an absolute joke. Then don't ask me why in early Jan 2023 I decided to re-subscribe. I realized almost instantly that HomeStars had become an ever-bigger joke. The guy on the phone when I resubscribe was lying through his teeth to get me on board. Put a 550/month payment on me saying that I would have ONLY quality leads. I have had a bunch of fake leads empty leads and completely ridiculous leads with no budget like 50$ jobs. Absolutely absurd. I have asked since the first month to lower my cost at the minimum and they are playing def, again not answering back. Oh and don't even show up to the meeting that they set up. Wasted my morning waiting on that Apoorva Balantrapu girl (To be polite). Never showed up. Never answer her phone or email. And yeah they want to charge me 1800$ to cancel my subscription, is that even legal? I think I will. These crooks are making my blood boil.
Souless job pimps! They dont care about their customers or their contractors. They are here for one thing only! To scam both sides out of money and run! Max shepherd should be ashamed of him self!
Benjamin and Kyle were great doing the work in the bathroom, Very pleasant and confident at their work. We were very pleased to have them and recommend them strongly. The bathroom looks fantastic.
So, I paid 260$ to advertise for me. After about 5min, I changed my mind. I told them to refund me but they refused until now. They say that I signed a contract. So, 260$ gone with absolutely no service. They did not want to give me half of this at least. My business has never been on their website even. Please people think twice before You hire this company. They are bad and wicked. No human conscience at all.How can you take free money with no service? I hope they pay for all this-one day.
Date of experience: December 08,2022.If you need proof, let me know.
All of my interactions with HomeStars have been negative, starting years ago when I opened my business and was constantly berated with phone calls and emails to sign up for their premium services despite my being adamant and vocal about not being interested. I am so thankful that I never did it as a quick online search will lead you to many business owners who decided to sign up for their paid versions and regret it after being out thousands of dollars and ignored when they request cancellation of the service and removal of their business. I have run into a similar hurdle now as it seems to be 'impossible' to remove your page once it's up. It doesn't seem to matter to them that a business owner is requesting for them to stop advertising their services on the HomeStars website. Spoke with a CSR by the name of Rob who was very ignorant, invasive and told me to hire a lawyer if I wanted my page removed. Will be escalating this matter further.
Before I pay everybody use to call me everyday to fallow up now after i paid and never get a job from them no body answer they are scam
They beg me d sign promise min 8 job a month turn out nothing
They scammer and i ll take them to small court next week
They should b banned
My company signed a one year contract with Homestars (their minimum) and we eventually cancelled it after 7 months, paying out 35% of the remaining contract to do so.
There were leads and we did end up getting one single job from the leads, which didn't cover the cost of the contact. From my experience, the leads are looking for the cheapest contractor they are put in contact with, which isn't us and we weren't going to drop our pricing to get the leads to use our services. If you are a contractor who is cut throat in your pricing, then Homestars is for you!
You have to constantly maintain your page, hassle customers for reviews, etc. If you're busy and don't have time to put into your profile, don't bother!
When we decided to cancel, communication from the Homestars staff was absolutely non-existent, to the point where I had to contact my bank to have a stop payment put on our credit card. The day before our regular billing date, they finally reached out and although they tried to keep us on at a cheaper rate, we wanted nothing more to do with them.
I do not recommend Homestars to any contractors. Find a better place to invest your advertising and promotional dollars.
Great hair and beard cut, took extra care, finally found someone after years of looking who I trust with my hair, thanks Roy!
I retained Baz Aluminum ("Baz") to fix a leaking problem in the eavestrough on the side of my semi-detached rental house. In the winter leaking waster forms ice on the ground and huge icycles from the roof which is a danger to several people using daily this path. The solution for the problem was agreed on. The front didn't require any correction as there were no leaking eavestroughs there. When the work was completed on Oct. 13/22 it became clear the not only the existing problem was not fixed but a new potentially even greater one was created by Baz. They created 2 additional leaking spots on the front with water coming on mine and my next-door neighbors' front stairs. This is a huge liability problem for me. As a result, I withheld payment cheque to Baz subject to their executing the original job as agreed and fixing the problems they themselves created. Baz promised to do it. They showed up once in my absence even though I asked to be informed of their arrival. Not clear what was done but all the problems still persist. Baz became quite aggressive with me and requested payment when I mentioned this. After I sent him proof of continuing leaks, he promised to come in the week Nov. 5-11/22. I reminded him of this on Friday Nov. 11 but didn't get his response. They didn't show until today and stopped responding to my correspondence. My opinion is that this is an unreliable and likely incompetent operator and doesn't deserve even the 1 star I gave him. Don't understand his 99 Homestars rating. What are my options now?
We hired AJ Upgrades to sand and stain a portion of our deck. Anthony only did 1/8 of the job, then for various family reasons (his stories not verified) walked away and took our $1425 deposit. Despite his promises, the balance was not returned to us. Now HomeStars refuses to publish our review, because it was negative. If was as follows below. Therefore, are all of their subscribers reliable. I can only say NO THEY'RE NOT.
My wife and I hired the owner of AJ Upgrades in Courtice and gave him a deposit of $1425 to buy the products to sand and stain the upper half of our deck. Altogether he applied a 1st coat of stripper to 400 sq/ft of 600 sq/ft. Then the excuses came, for over a month. Dog got sick, kids got sick, father got sick, all while promising to finish the job. Then he backs out and promises that he'll return $1200 to us. This now left the job in our hands to finish it before the cold weather. Despite many attempts to contact him, no replies or return of our money. Our advice is to stay away from dealing with AJ Upgrades. Ron Daniels. 8 Brand Court, Ajax
If I could give a business -10 stars I would, HomeStars don't even deserve 1! I am reviewing here HomeStars as business owner who regrettably signed up with them! My worst business investment ever! Scammers all the way! I was with them for 9 months and did not even have one single job! They have send me leads from Ottawa even thought I signed up for Newmarket and area! Stay away! DO NOT SIGN UP or you'll regret tossing $10k down the drain! These people should be in court!
Don't trust them, for contractors they are latterly scamer...
If you are contractor and looking for jobs. Don't make agreement with them. If you broke down. They give you collection for nothing. Be carefull
Answer: I just liked there program after trying the trial and moved up to brand builder. Well worth it.
