The site offers great products and an ease of use. Where it falters is the unrestricted ability for sellers to add shipping and handling without itemization or dispute. I purchase from here, private sellers, and the huge auction app. The private guy pads it the most and uses mailers designed for the comics I buy. My cost is $10 for a shipment of up to 11. The bay can run from any 5 to 10 for the equivalent with some sellers pushing it to 12. But hibid just had a seller charge $30 for shipping 3 comics with no explanation and no break down in the shipping terms. This is way over market rate. Another auction charged me about 13 for an oversized box, which was market rate. Too much leeway to pad the charges without a buyers right to dispute.

Placed bids in 2 different auctions. Items were not fully described to initiate fair practice (one item looked to be sealed box, but items were missing from content. Blurred pictures and descriptions make it a dangerous choice for bidding

It has come to my attention that proxy bidders are participating in the auction. To promote fair market value, it would be preferable to have only direct bidders involved.

I get a specified email to my email account to bid on someone's auctions they have displayed. I go in and look through the entire inventory and I finally decide I want to bid I get have to wait for auctioneer to approve. If they are going to send out emails that individual should be able to be bid on items. I would also like to know if they get reprimanded or negative action towards these auction houses

The bidding is easy. I see they took my money but I did not get an itemized invoice which I find very troubling. Have no idea what the breakdown was of the items versus commission, tax, etc... I did not see any way to contact HiBid to question.

I spent hours bidding on and WINNING multiple items in an auction from "Hilda's Auction House". (I have screenshots of all items saying I won.) While waiting for my invoice the next day, I received "You have been outbid" emails. I logged in only to see all the items I WON had been re-listed and were accepting new bids. What gives?
***(UPDATE) - I received a call back from "Hilda's Auction House" telling me that despite me WINNING the auction I "didn't win anything", that their unpublished reserve wasn't met, and "to stop wasting their time" before hanging up on me.

Some auction houses work closely with consignors and may need to obtain final approval before completing transactions. In such cases, hidden reserves can be common. I used this site the first time Sunday, budded on several things. I won one item 2.00 something like that. I couldn't make the pickup, 3-7 pm. They sent email (both went to my spam) Sunday night one at 930 and the other 1100ish. Telling me to pick up Monday if not I would be charged extra. I just now found them in my spam folder.
I called them to see if I could get my items but he said no. So I am out 13.00 plus a 1.00 hold that they charged. Never again

Answer: Licensed auctioneer here- auction law is that if you give notice that you need to retract your bid before the hammer falls (or the auction ends online) that the auctioneer is required to retract the bid. Actual law also dictates that bidding must start over at opening bid, not the next highest bid.
Answer: Very easy. If you dont get someone immediately they do call back. But once again if you have a problem with items contact the auction house not hibid. Hibid doesn't auction they only provide the platform
