I just watched an hour's worth of boring. A woman renovated a lake house, doubling its size (I think), and making it "passive". Too much talk about the sister whose house it is, and too much lamenting about whether the sister and brother-in-law "will like it". Just as I got (finally) to the big reveal, the show was cut off so that a recycled "Home Town" could play. Don't know if this is HGTV or ATT/Direct TV, but I do know that there have been some shows so boring that I stopped watching, including the twins in WA whose diction is so perfect that it is irritating to listen to. HGTV needs to up its game and find some people with personality!
These third-rate fixer upper shows are starting to all look alike. Three hanging lights over the kitchen island, the dimwitted husband-host knocks out a wall with a sledgehammer, the smarter perky wife-host saves the day with the same-o design solutions. The clueless young owner's say "amazing! Awesome! Absolutely!"... where's Bob Vila and Norm? Geez!,,,,
I really wanted to like this show but could barely make it through the 1st episode. The couple is unappealing and her artwork and vision for the house is child like. Have to change channel when this comes on.
Please stop showing that Fixer Upper show all weekend long! Enough is enough! That couple is too handy for public TV, sick of seeing them groping each other all the time! Worst show and you show rerun after rerun.
Why is HGTV going against the very premise it was built - home and family with the show Christina on the coast? She is a very poor designer with lack of creative ideas. She has no personality, but my main complaint is that she is shown preparing for a trip with her beau, not husband. I thought HGTV liked to promote family values?
If you goal is good design- she has none. If your goal is family values- you are not promoting them. What is your goal in keeping Christina on the Coast on your network?
Just watched the new episodes of Flip or Flop and I see they still do boring gray and white designs. I'd much rather watch Desert Flippers, Flip or Flop Vegas and of course Fixer Upper. The others may do some crazy designs but at least they make it interesting to watch. I'm more interested in the people actually doing the work. I mean, anyone could do what they do. How do they have a show just hiring a contractor and laborers and shopping for tile? I watched Christina's show and it looks as though she literally does nothing but go to the tilie store and pick out cute tile. I could do that! Bottom line is both shows are boring and I think their day in the spotlight has come to an end.
House Hunters and House Hunters International script the shows with couples that don't agree on anything. Apparently, they think conflict creates interest. Bickering couples turn me off and I change the channel. I love seeing the houses, but real couples usually agree on generalities. The scripting makes the show look even more fake than it really is.
The scripts are written by people who are in the real estate industry, and the vocabulary used is "realtorese", not the way the general public speaks. And many of the house seekers are stereotypes, looking for stereotypical features. That also adds to the fakeness. They need new writers.
Erin drove me nuts and he emblazoned his plaques on things he made. As the customer I wouldn't want that. Erin is not Joanna. They also are too affectionate to the point of staged. Her drawings are awful and her decorating skill is nil
This show been such a wonderful refreshing change. In a world turned upside dow, Ben and Erin are a ray of sunshine. It's not about $ of a home or repairs. It's inspires the possibilities and unity of a great team to bringing life to a town. One house at a time. Great Job Ben & Erin. Look forward to visiting your town.
I am so very tired of property brothers! They have become very annoying characters. I used to watch a lot but stopped a couple of years ago. Can't stand even stopping momentarily on the station. I almost scream and go to another channel. :).
I also think Christina is a very bad personality for TV. She is just not likeable.
Lastly (promise:-) The program I love is House Hunters International -- except when for the homosexual couples. No, I'm not homophobic; I just don't want to watch same-sex shows. I record all the HHI but lately there have been so many homosexual couples, I just killed the series. (and the new ones? Throuple, or something like that. Uh, I think not.)
HGTV used to be a nice, normal, family value station. No more. I find myself watching it less and less.
Sorry for the kind of rant, but, hey, it's my first post!
Home Town is just a mess. It's a cheap take off of Fixer Upper and it fails terribly. Joanna and Chips Fixer Upper is more than just a fix it show. It shows a family with strong values; which is hard to find these days. Home Town has two people that are fakes, and it's boring as watching a rock. Take it off.
How dare this fraud be allowed to be advertised. This is not Vancouver and should not be allowed to mislead viewers. The host of the series failed as a designer in Vancouver and now misleads viewers that they can purchase large sized homes for values that are fraudulent or at minimum misleading. How does HGTV allow a lie to be displayed. As a person from Vancouver I'm offended by this misleading show
Property Brothers and Fixer Upper are shown for HOURS. These people tear apart perfectly fine houses, swinging sledge hammers and destroying cabinetry that could be salvaged. Often the results are not an improvement at all.
I enjoy the house search programs, and the tiny house shows are fun to watch also. But seeing the 'guts' of a house exposed, yikes, an ugly mess I want no part of.
Always loved this show until this episode. When they chopped the length of the front porch to save a few bucks then made 74k over their projected 100k profit... That is just greedy. What a huge disappointment, no longer a fan. They need to do the right thing and go back build the porch as originally designed. Shame on Ken and Anita.
We love... LOVE the Napiers! They are just our speed and take a realistic approach to their remodels. Erin isn't afraid to use some color on the walls either. Please bring them back. No comparison to Fixer Upper! I love them both but Home Town is my fav!
I'm ok with odd social situations. That's their business but when you throw them at me as HG programming it's either subject myself to their oddities or change the channel. A little oddness is expected as the world is a little odd but a steady stream of it is choking me. I change the channel. Too bad. I love HG TV.
Just trying to look at a photograph is impossible. You not only have to look at 5 ads first but then you have to scroll through photos to find the one you had clicked on. Why would I ever come back to any of you sites.
I love watching HGTV! I don't like all the repeats. Ya'll need new episodes. I love watching Good Bones as I like everyone on there. Mina and Tad are my favorite! I also like Good Bones. The Lottery Dream House is great except to many repeats again. Fixer to Fabulous is my other one I love! So keep it up but get new shows please.
HGTV review
HGTV is and has been one of my favorite channels. During this pandemic, I take a break from watching movies and I am back to watching HGTV. It is shocking to see that it still does not uphold safety of menial laborers. Construction workers cut or drill stone, or cut or sand or varnish wood and particles are flying all over and the workers do not wear mouth, nose, and eye protection! Those people are being exposed to carcinogens and it won't be a surprise that they're minimum wage earners and don't have health insurance! HGTV being a show that features professional home designers, contractors and even architects should do better than that!
I leave my TV on HGTV all day, but no more! Every commercial literally the entire day plays the Home Town ad over and over. It is sickening and listening to Erin tell viewers To "Get up and do it"? Makes my stomach turnover. The show is horrible and Erin doesn't have the decorating style for TV at all. Please get rid of this show and the terrible and overplayed commercial! HGTV are you TRYING to loose your viewers? Because it sure looks like it!
Answer: There are SO many commercials for Hometown ( more than 6 per hour), I won't be watching it because I am sick of the couple posing and posing. So many commercials mean something is wrong with the show. HELP PLEASE!
Answer: I agree! Landscapes, gardening... something that blends in vegetation to give a nice break from home remodels.
