Customer service from this company is exemplary. They are ready at all times to troubleshoot, give advice, and generally make sure you have an enjoyable exterior with their roses!
I have been shopping for roses at Heirloom Roses for 2 years now. I am a relatively new rosarian BUT I research everything I buy or use painstakingly. The reasons I absolutely love Heirloom are:
Own root roses: yes, they take a bit longer to grow to their full potential BUT they are easy to grow - no parent graft messing up - sending shoots etc.; you don't have to worry about pruning them too much; relatively disease free
Quality of roses: I have crossed the 25 different roses mark from HR. All roses have arrived EXACTLY as expected. As mentioned above, they take a bit longer to grow but once established they are SOLID. And the blooms are GORGEOUS!
The fertilizers etc.: The fish emulsion is solid gold. The roses go crazy after application. Tons of buds within a few days. The bone meal is also of an obviously higher quality than the 'premium ' brand from the gardening centers.
Customer Service: I have never had an issue with customer service AND the folks who pick up the phone KNOW ABOUT ROSES! As I was going through my rosarian initiation, I had many questions. And the answers were always available.
YouTube Channel: I LOVE HR YouTube channel. Simple, drama free solid advice
Small Business: While I do not disavow large business by any means, I support small business as much as I can and it is important to me.
EDITED: I was gifted a rose and it died. I had a couple of struggles with Heirloom Roses. First of all, they would not talk to me even though I had the order number and original packaging. So, I had to bug the gifter to try and contact them, which required multiple communication attempts. Thankfully this was a family member and I was able to reach them, but I would not recommend gifting from this company as it is not an easy process if the receiver has issues.
I planted the rose on March 15th after carefully monitoring the temperature. Since then, it did not freeze as proven by weather records. Initially, Heirloom Rose refused to replace or refund the dead plant because according to them, it "could" have frozen in my area until April 11th. As I and the gifter continued to reach out, we eventually found out that purchasing from a 3rd party vendor (Amazon) voids the companies 1 year warranty. Heirloom did eventually make this right, which I very much appreciate. However, I would still suggest caution when purchasing, especially if it is through a 3rd party site.
I have grown roses for 20+ years, and have a garden of 300+ roses. I live in Charlotte, NC, on the cusp of zones 7-8. Over those years, I've learned:
• Bare root roses ordered in the fall and planted in Feb/Mar get strong and thrive.
• Container roses planted after Memorial Day soon struggle and whither. Don't bother!
Then I came across Heirloom early this summer. A few roses were on sale, they offered free shipping with just a few roses and -- most of all, they offered a year-long guarantee. I watched the videos and was shocked by the way they strip the leaves off plants and promise they'll grow. I didn't believe it... but thought I had nothing to lose given their guarantee.
So I tried five roses -- in mid-summer!
They are not only living and growing, they are FLOURISHING! I purchased in June, received in mid-July, and planted after they'd begin to sprout in late July. (I actually waited to plant them because I was certain I'd be sending them back, dead).
Today I ordered two more roses, which I will plant for a dear couple, in memory of the child and grandchild they lost earlier in 2023. A few months ago I NEVER would have risked planting two roses this time of year -- what if they die for these wonderful people? But I am now willing to take the chance by purchasing roses from Heirloom. (Of course they still may die, but I now believe Heirloom gives me the best chance of success!)
What Heirloom does is clearly a labor of love. I love growing roses, but have felt over the years that most growers have abandoned their product in order to sell a plant that soon dies. I know David Austin doesn't do that (but they sell out of everything by Memorial Day); now I have a supplier who is different from whom I can buy all year!
Thank you, Heirloom!
My 3 from you in my basement last December with grow light didn't make it - better luck this time. Need a Mr Lincoln too but not available.

Answer: I bought from Heirloom Roses because of the amazingly beautiful selection of roses they offer plus their customer service is beyond excellent.
Answer: I live in 8b and prune in November. Watch the weather as they should tell you when six weeks before the first frost happens. I prune again in April after the last frost and before the buds turn red and swell.
