They shipped me two rose bushes with rose rosettes disease and refused to honor the warranty in a reply from the company on April 5,2025 after I contacted them on April 4,2025. Update 4/9/25 = The company rep has since become combative - insisting that I did not give them time to reply even though my reviews were posted on April 5,2025 after their first reply on April 5,2025. They stated before honoring the warranty, they want me to remove this review from trustpilot. I told them no and that I would not update any review until they honored their warranty on their end. I have never had a company make such a demand before. I will be on edge for the next 9 months watching to see if my other 12 rose bushes were contaminated from the diseased bushes sent from Heirloom Roses. So far, there are no signs on my existing bushes but the incubation period is long. 2 rose bushes from COSTCO have been planted to replace the heirloom diseased bushes. The Costco ones look great so far. You can see from their reply to this post how they do business with consumers. I hope my review is helpful to others looking to make a purchase with the company. I would be hesitant to accept any replacement from this company due to the risk they have brought to my yard. My whole rose garden might be wiped out because of their negligence.
Bought two roses (first time)- both were ridiculously small for the price. One did ok- the other never grew more than 12 inches tall and was so sickly I removed it. I have a strict routine of watering, pest control and fertilization- which Heirloom roses claims is too much watering and fertilization. I wonder why my other 13 co-located rose bushes- some of which I purchased from Walmart for $13- have grown 4-5 ft in the same time period. Seriously- this is a joke. I have years of experience successfully growing roses. Only buy from them if you have no other option
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your rose didn’t meet your expectations.
It’s important to note that own-root and grafted roses do grow differently in their first year. Grafted roses often appear larger as they establish on their rootstock, while own-root roses focus on developing a strong root system. In the first year, own-root roses tend to produce slimmer canes, but after their first pruning, their growth becomes more robust, often surpassing grafted roses in overall longevity and health.
Regarding your warranty request, we regret that we could not approve it due to the presence of rose rosette disease, which is spread by mites and unfortunately not covered under our warranty. While this disease isn’t a reflection of your care, we did also advise that weekly fertilizing and daily watering may not be the best approach for young own-root roses, as they require more balanced care during their establishment phase.
We completely understand how disappointing it is to lose a rose, especially to something as unpredictable as rose rosette disease. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or need assistance.
I purchased a few different bare root roses a few weeks ago. One was per my mother's request, a "Don Juan" red climber. It arrived as what I considered a "twig" lol. I am super new to roses & quite nervous. Anyway, I followed the planting instructions precisely. It's only been 2 weeks & it has quadrupled size already! I'm totally astounded!
I recently looked back in my emails and saw that I have been ordering roses from Heirloom since 2015! Although the ownership has changes, they continue to be a vendor that I trust and enjoy doing business with. I recommend them wholeheartedly!
I will definitely be using again they came so beautifully packaged. The plant was healthy and even had buds already on it. Can't wait to see if we will have some beautiful roses this coming spring/summer
I ordered Mr Lincoln for the son of a lady who has recently died. Mr Lincoln was one of her favorite roses (mine too, the fragrance is divine) and so I thought this would be a living memory to her rather than cut flowers which fade and die soon. The order arrived on time, intact, with clear instructions for planting.
I love ordering roses from Heirloom. Their roses arrive healthy and vibrant. If ever I have any issues, I just have to reach out and someone from their staff will make it right. It's important to buy from family owned companies and I feel good about that.
I ordered hot cocoa and Zepherine Drouhin. They were well packed for the trip. I planted them both the next day and so far they are doing great! New little healthy leaves are already emerging after 4 days! I know they are off to a great start, I anticipate gorgeous blooms coming seasons!
I purchased the Poet's Wife as I was looking for a sharp yellow rose. It is the most prolific of the three roses I purchased having about 7 blooms in the first year! However, it is not a sharp yellow, but a soft yellow. Regardless, it is beautiful and fragrant.
I've ordered from Heirloom Roses for my own garden and as gifts. The antique roses are lush and have a wonderful scent. Customer service was excellent when an issue arose. Recommend this company highly!
Martha, thank you so much! I am so pleased to hear you have had a great experience with our roses AND our Customer Care team. Thank you!
As a trusting/loyal customer, I spent $1200+ purchased over 30+ rose in two months at heirloom roses.
Among all these roses, I identified one plant has not been healthy/performing well (two out of its three branches were dying upon arrival and didn't make it back)
I emailed photos showing the died branches of this unhealthy plant, and asked for exchange - very reasonable request I assume - however, got denied immediately. Because my plant has not "totally died yet" - what kind of quality assurance is that?
Not sure I will recommend this biz to anyone, nor myself will support this biz anymore.
Hello Julia. I'm sorry to hear that you are unhappy with your rose. It looks like our Customer Care Representative, Brittany, has already arranged for you to be shipped a replacement Lady of Shallot. I'm glad to see that we were able to resolve your warranty claim. I'm not sure what else further we can do here, but please feel free to reach out if you need more assistance. Thank you!
I purchased my mother a gift certificate for Christmas a few years ago from Heirloom Roses. The rose bush arrived at my house perfectly packaged. They definitely take care to ensure that products arrive safely with no damage. This isn't very common with living items. The rose bush was so beautiful, also very healthy. The next several orders were the same. I have never had mail order living plants with such great quality. They also guarantee the roses for an entire year! Top quality items, weekly sales and discounts, and excellent customer service and support! Heirloom Roses has FREE shipping on every single order over $50
I filed two replacement requests with Heirloom and then realized there was a very lengthy form to complete outlining how I killed the plants. I liked Heirlooms site, helpful videos and planting guidance. I really dislike their support and very poor attitude when plants die.
I following all instructions in the box, and on the site and even requested zonal info when purchasing being in a colder State. No refund, no response, incredibly poor service.
Since purchasing this order I've had 298 marketing emails from this company, so not only are they horrible at support they also spam you with email.
We’re sorry to hear of your less-than-satisfactory experience with Heirloom Roses! We would be happy to review your Warranty request with you. Please call us at (503) 538-1576 or send us a email at info@heirloomroses.com at your earliest convenience and we would be happy to assist you!
Bought a rose, took awhile to ship but they gave me the shipping window up front when I ordered. Once it shipped it arrived in 4 days even with Memorial Day. I planted the rose on Tuesday and it is doing great. I followed the YouTube video and so far so good. Will buy again from them if I can find space in my garden.
Thank you for your review. I'm so glad the rose is flourishing in your garden. We appreciate your support of our family nursery. - Robin
It's not everyday that you can access the plethora of options and beautiful roses from a company and still get great customer service. During the busy spring season, it's normal to have an influx of calls and concerns from customers. I as a customer, like so many of us, understand the high volume while attempting to maintain brand loyalty. Even when one of my roses didn't make it through winter successfully, this company made the warranty process easier than I thought. The customer service is great.
Timothy, thanks for your kind review and excellent tips. Picking for the right hardiness zone is crucial!
After having ordered several rose bushes over the past year from Heirloom Roses I would like to thank Ben and his team for growing and sending the loveliest varieties. Their site is filled with flower profiles and growing and inspirational information as well. Thank you for generously sharing your knowledge, kindness and professionalism.
Pamela, awww! Thank you! We are so glad you have a lovely, thriving garden AND experienced a pleasant experience with our team. Happy Growing!
My Plum Perfect own root rose arrived on time, which was remarkably quick, and in great health. I have purchased other roses from Heirloom and will definitely be back. I highly recommend this breeder.
I have always used Heirloom for my Rose gardens. Their selection and accuracy are everything.I am starting over in my new home; looking forward to the blooms and of course; fragrance.
Wonderful selection of roses and great customer service! But the important thing is the Type of plant. These have grown wonderfully since a planted them then left the country for 10 weeks, with housesitter car, but not my knowledgeable touch. I can't wait to watch them grow and hopefully won't have the problem some of my grafted roses have presented. One lavender rose had a red spot last year, and after the winter and pruning, the entire bush is coming back red. My deep yellows rose next to a white rose that has gone very pink, has lost it's vibrancy. I do have something going on in this garden, but I can tell these roses which have already bloomed in brilliant colors will stay that way. Hooray
Everything from ordering, customer service, shipment, arrival was perfection. This is a company that does things right and truly cares about their product and their customers. If you have been on the fence about trying one of their roses...just do it. You won't find better out there.
Answer: I bought from Heirloom Roses because of the amazingly beautiful selection of roses they offer plus their customer service is beyond excellent.
Answer: I live in 8b and prune in November. Watch the weather as they should tell you when six weeks before the first frost happens. I prune again in April after the last frost and before the buds turn red and swell.

We take reports of Rose Rosette Disease (RRD) seriously. It’s a viral issue spread by windborne mites and can be introduced into any landscape by insects, tools, or even clothing. Thanks to our strict health protocols—including viral indexing, pest management, and regular inspections by the Oregon Department of Agriculture—we do not have RRD in our fields, and all roses are shipped disease-free. If we had any reason to believe the issue originated from our nursery, we would have gladly brought the roses back for testing.
We understand the disappointment of losing a rose. In good faith, we offered a courtesy replacement outside of our warranty guidelines to assist in establishing your garden this growing season.
To be clear, you submitted a survey reply during off hours and we replied the first business day we were in the office.
As previously communicated, our roses are shipped disease-free, and we follow strict health and safety protocols to ensure their quality. We remain committed to resolving issues fairly and reasonably.
At this point, we consider this matter resolved. Thank you for your understanding.
