I ordered a GOJI Berry plant and they delivered as dead completely.
1. They are not ready to give a replacement.
2. They given a replacement certificate which I have to pay shipping $6 again.
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE,
Don't go with this..
Gurney's owners are thieves! I bought plants end of March. No shipments for weeks. Customer service awful. Plants arrived as near-dead sticks and seedling wrapped in newspaper. Pathetic. Paid postage to return them for a FULL REFUND. I get an email that they will NOT REFUND MY MONEY but instead give me a lame CERTIFICATE so I can buy more near dead sticks and seedlings. My refund should be $133.92. Their CERTIFICATE is only for $105.43. REALLY? Why aren't these owners in jail? I've filed a complaint with the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU and am leaving reviews everywhere I can think of. SHUT THIS COMPANY DOWN!
Ordered seeds that were in stock. Paid bill, notified 2 products backordered. Shipping 1 month out. Won't be able to use the seeds till next year Stay away bad place.
I called them 2 weeks after my order, requesting delivery, got Indian woman who said essentially nothing. Six weeks after ordering, sent them a nasty e-mail alleging fraud. The next week I received 2 different postcards that everything I ordered wouldn't be available to ship for another month. DO NOT EVER ORDER ONE SEED FROM THIS COMPANY!
We ordered seeds and plants, which were to arrive the end of March. Middle of April and still nothing. So much for their guarantee. Will never order again from gurneys.
I ordered an assortment of seeds, trees, and pepper plants in December. Most were set to be shipped by early spring. The seeds were alright. The pepper plants arrived in mid may (after being back ordered for over a month) in plastic wrapped boxes and were brown, dry, and said plant immediately. I did- planted, watered and they have yet to come back to life. Then the trees were back ordered multiple times. It is the first week of June and they've just arrived as 8 sticks (a mix of 3 tree varieties) which are all plastic wrapped together with no labels or leaves. Literally they tied the 8 sticks together, no dirt or anything and stuck a plastic bag over them. They just look like 3-4 ft long sticks with almost no roots. There were no instructions for planting in the box, but instead an email saying we've created an online video series for your convenience. Absolutely inconvenient. I will never purchase from Gurneys again. We have ordered and planted over 30 trees and 100 shrubs from other companies over the past 2 years and the quality, speed, and general aliveness of those plants is immeasurable when compared to the horrible experience with gurneys
I ordered some vegetable plants in January. My credit card was charged supposedly so they could hold my order. Now it's April and I find out that some of the things I ordered are out of stock and won't be in until after my planting times. Now I have to scurry around to local nurseries to try and find what I need. This happened last year as well but I thought it was because of the pandemic so that is why I ordered so early this year.
I WILL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN.
Ordered in Feb for 2 different packs of seeds. I got one pack but as now 0n 19th april spring still waiting for the other said was back ordered don't think I will get.
I ordered several raspberry and strawberry bushes from this company. I didn't receive one of the Anne raspberry bushes I paid for and wrote to customer service immediately asking for a refund. After 2 weeks they Informed me I will get a CREDIT not a REFUND. I will loose $9.99, the cost of the MISSING item, as I will never order from them again!
Ordered seeds early Feb to get started indoors, it is now APRIL and still no seeds. Called and they say they will ship next week.
Lost weeks of growing time, will not use Gurney's again
I had bought from Gurney's previously and was happy with the product quality. I did not know about their customer service as I had no need to contact them. This time around, though, I placed an order in late March and was charged for it two days later. The promised ship date range was March 30 to April 13, come and gone now without a shipment. The only way to contact them is (1) by phone, on your dime as they don't have an 800 number or (2) by sending them an e-mail. (The chat line on their website does not work). Because I got two conflicting e-mails from them following my order placement, one confirming the order and a second saying I had left the item in my shopping cart, I tried both methods. My e-mail resulted in an eventual response, OVER A WEEK LATER. While waiting for a response I tried the phone. My call got me to an individual whom I could barely hear despite my repeated requests for him to speak louder, whose English was difficult to understand at best when I could hear him and who was unable to answer my question.
So, be smarter than I was and stay away from Gurney's.
It was a warm and sunny day in early spring when I decided to place an order for some seeds and plants from this company. I was excited to start my garden and their website had a great selection of products. I spent a good amount of time browsing and carefully selecting around 23 items, spending a total of $136.
At first, everything seemed to be going smoothly. I received an email confirmation of my order and was given an estimated delivery date. However, as the days turned into weeks, I started to become concerned. Only a few items had been shipped, and when I checked the status of the rest, they were still listed as "in stock and ready to ship."
I contacted the company several times, but each time I was given the same generic response that my order would be shipped soon. But it never was. Finally, I had enough and decided to cancel my order. It was the first week of May and I couldn't wait any longer.
When I asked for a refund, they only refunded me $75, even though I had paid $136 for the order. I felt cheated and scammed by this company. It was a disappointing experience, to say the least. I would not recommend them to anyone and advise others to avoid them at all costs.
This is one of the worst companies that I have ever dealt with. By the time you get your order, the season is over. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I have had several orders and they are all months late, and they have never shipped when they say they will.
I orderd 3 packs of defiant tomato seeds for almost 8 bucks each and it took 3 weeks to get them when i did get them and i was ready to pot them i found 4 seeds in one pack 9 seeds in another pack and 11 seeds in another pack. Now for 24 dollars for the order is not good.Icall them and the one i spoke to said there was nothing she could do. In short i got ripped off and they stuck it to me i don't recammend this company. Things are tuff for everyone but to take advantage of us. VERY DISAPOINTED
Ordered tomato plants big mistake plants were very small, wilted and brown packed in sleeves that were difficult to open plants were only good for tossing in trash dumpster BIG BIG waste of money. Most awful plants I have seen. Contacted Gurneys customer service by phone and they seemed very uninterested and was no way helpful. Only offered a credit on future orders which I will lose as I will never order from gurneys again. Plants looked as if they were from discards of other companies If I could rate plants and customer service below 0 I would gurneys is a rip off company not caring about products or service SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY BY AVOIDING ORDERING FROM GURNEYS
I paid $140 for one live tree and three dead ones. Gurney's ignored my emails and I had to report their charge to my Credit Union as a fraudulent charge. Total ripoff. Do not buy from this company.
Save yourself the headache and disappointment and AVOID this company. There are plenty of hardworking, reliable and honest seed and nursery companies in America, which grow and ship from America.
CHECK THE BBB (better business bureau) for the complaints and issues going back years.
If you decide to purchase from this company, you will be angry and disappointed. When you try and contact customer service, you will sit on hold, get hung up on and worst of if you are lucky enough to get through, you will be speaking to INDIA!
Save your money. BUY AMERICAN!
Shipment eas made late only after I called customer service. The plants were either dead or not viable.
I had ordered a large packet of the ruby red carrots to fulfill a fall order to two large restaurants, who had previously purchased products our small business made. I planted enough seed on a rainy day, and followed through with regular watering. Because this was a late summer planting with expected picking after early frost (October) which increases the sugar content, I made sure that even if there was only a 50% germination rate, it would give me enough product to make the sales. After a few weeks, less than 1% germinated! I scrabbled to find similar seed from other companies but to no avail. I communicated the problem with customer service and all they offered was credit for future purchases, yeah right! I had to contact the restaurants and they were not happy. With everything going on since Covid-19, they decided not to do any future business with my company. For a small business, the loss of an average $1,500 purchases each was a blow to me. They are well -established and were going to spread my good reputation for my 6 year old business. I'm really screwed because of the failings of this company. I even shared with customer service, the impact of these bad seeds but nothing but sorry and is there anything I needed to buy! I suggested a larger type of refund, which went nowhere. You couldn't pay me enough to ever do business with Gurney's again! Any catalog sent will be used for firewood kindling. Good riddance!
I ordered two jujube trees from Gurney's on 11/14/20 and none of them are growing leaves until today, I have contacted the company two time via E-mail and never got a reply.
Answer: It use to be a good company, now it seems like they don't care about quality.
Answer: Phone call the wait is moderate. However they just read from a script so are not helpful. I requested to speak to a manager. One wasnt available so the rep said one would call me by end oaf day. Of course I never got a call back from a manager.
Answer: Johnny's Selected Seeds is great for seeds. They are always tested for viability and the company is employee-owned. https://www.johnnyseeds.com/
