My overall experience has been quite good apart from post rental. I returned the car in the same condition as received and was told by the collecting agent all was fine with the car. Over 3 weeks later I'm still waiting for my insurance refund £381. Any other car rental firm I've used return the deposit within 2 weeks.
A really friendly and helpful team in Stansted. Easy and fast processing, no waiting time, easy return with a smile.

The Green Motion is scam company do not rent from them you will spoil your holiday, check reviews do not make the same mistake as i did.
Their cars are full of scratches. Of course i took pictures of all the scratches and marked them ine the contract.
But there are hidden places which is impossible to notice in trunk motor apartment under the car ect...
Or simply they will send you damage photos from another vehicule most of them are the same colors and models. They know that is impossible for you to go back and check it.
It is franchise company, you have to fight on both sides with the local company and headquarters

My flight was delayed and then diverted due to adverse weather conditions and I had to get a taxi across London to pick up my car. Upon arrival I was told that my car had been given away and I was charged for an upgrade despite the fact that they had been kept appraised of my delay throughout the afternoon. I contested the upgrade fee but was told that I was not eligible for a refund. Very disappointing overall.
My flight was delayed then reservation was cancelled by green motion, because they leave at 7pm. It was very inconvenient as I was waiting for the shuttle bus that never came. Then I lost my $21 deposit, they would not give it back to me. Terrible experience.
From start to finish, from booking and finalising payment. Was hassle free, stress free and helpful, polite and all done with a cheery personality. Thank you so much for making my wee sad trip into a happy one.

Sent an email telling me that I have not paid a Dartford crossing charge, which I accepted was my fault. Replied to email and still have had No reply!
It was my second time i rent a van with GreenMotion in Lapland.
Everything was perfect and the car i rent was equal to what i asked.

We hired two vehicles for 10 days. Staff greeted us and were very pleasant but proceeded to hard upsell us on higher cost vehicles and would not accept our credit card insurance. The result was the rental cost twice as much as expected and the deposit hold £1,600(!) was not released for over a month, although Green Motion claim that was the credit card providers fault not theirs. Won't use them again - stick with major brands. They are expensive but at least straightforwards.
Answer: I have used them many times, always cheapest, always very new cars, always charming and helpful staff ( Stansted Airport). Every firm will try to get you to upgrade. Buy a 3rd party policy, and just say you have your own cover. Up to now I have never been scammed. I ALWAYS inspect the vehicle before. I drive off. I take photos and make sure I get it inspected and signed off by staff when I take it back.
Answer: Speeding/parking tickets and police action are slow. They keep the deposit until they are sure there will be no problems with any of those costs. (and yeah, would be speeding fine + massive green motion fee).

I can confirm that security deposits are automatically released by Green Motion on the last day of your rental after it has been established that the rental vehicle has been returned in the same condition as it was provided, and there are no further outstanding charges. Whilst in most cases this is available again within 10 working days, unfortunately, this can take up to 30 days depending on the bank that you use. We suggest that you contact your bank as they may be able to speed this process up for you. Green Motion's policy is to use pre-authorised transactions for our security deposits, which ring-fence the amount within your account, not charge it. This pre-authorised transaction will allow us to make charges if necessary at the end of the rental, but unless this occurs no money will leave your account. Due to the nature of this transaction, the release of these funds may not show on your bank statement as a separate transaction. If you believe that you have been charged your security deposit, please contact your bank and ask them to provide proof of the transaction as a charge on the first day of your rental so that we can look further into this for you. If this amount is still not available in your account after 30 days from the last day of your rental, please contact us at escalation@cs.greenmotion.com. Answer: I believe Green Motion are a perfectly fair and respectful company. I suspect you didn't read their Ts&Cs properly. The two customers being served while I was collecting my car had also not read/understood the conditions and were caught by surprise. The representative dealt with them firmly but fairly.
