I found the whole experience from booking the car, picking it up and leaving it back to be hassle-free. A big plus for me was the agent who gave us the car didn't try to push the extra insurance, which I always find annoying, although he did of course outline the risks etc. Leaving the car back was a breeze with a different agent making no fuss about anything and being generally friendly and pleasant to deal with. I would definitely hire with them again.

The whole experience of dealing with the staff both in the centre and on the phone was relaxed and friendly. I found both agents who dealt with the rental going out and returning were helpful, polite and friendly. Also, the agent who handed over the car did not pressurise us to take out the extra insurance though he did explain the risks etc. (I already had excess insurance). All-in-all it was a very positive experience and I wouldn't hesitate to rent a car from Green Motion again or to recommend them to others.
We were greeted with a smile and sent off with a smile. Every detail was sent by e-mail when the vehicle was received and returned, and the deposit received was returned as soon as possible.

Phoned the Green Notion desk, phone answered almost straight away. Was directed to meet point for shuttle driver who arrived just as we did. Very pleasant man. Taken to office about 10 mins away, excellent service at the office, shown car, checked all round, signed for it and off we went. About 1/2 hour from phone call to driving away. Similarly good on returning the car.

Whilst I understand and signed the Green Motion contract T&C's, I would like to provide feedback on your charging policy. A charge of £68 for administrative costs associated with a parking fee doesn't reflect the actual time involved in searching your database and sending out a standard email response. Even if it took one of your staff members an hour to do this, given the average hourly rate in the UK is approx £20/hour there's a massive discrepancy with your charge and reality (i.e. Equivalent to >3hrs of work). I write this response not expecting any refund but to highlight your business policy has lost a client who had a very good experience prior to this charge to now having a poor experience particularly given the parking fee was withdrawn. This is a shame as I was planning to use Green Motion next year to hire a car but given the high cost of administrative fees I've now decided to use another company.
I hope you take the opportunity to revisit this policy and charge an administrative fee that better reflects the reality of time involved.

They then charge Green Motion handling and 'Transfer of Liability' fees, which is why we must charge an admin fee in such circumstances. To clarify, this charge is not to provide you with a notification of the fine, as it is the responsibility of the issuing authority to do this. Answer: I have used them many times, always cheapest, always very new cars, always charming and helpful staff ( Stansted Airport). Every firm will try to get you to upgrade. Buy a 3rd party policy, and just say you have your own cover. Up to now I have never been scammed. I ALWAYS inspect the vehicle before. I drive off. I take photos and make sure I get it inspected and signed off by staff when I take it back.
Answer: Speeding/parking tickets and police action are slow. They keep the deposit until they are sure there will be no problems with any of those costs. (and yeah, would be speeding fine + massive green motion fee).

I can confirm that security deposits are automatically released by Green Motion on the last day of your rental after it has been established that the rental vehicle has been returned in the same condition as it was provided, and there are no further outstanding charges. Whilst in most cases this is available again within 10 working days, unfortunately, this can take up to 30 days depending on the bank that you use. We suggest that you contact your bank as they may be able to speed this process up for you. Green Motion's policy is to use pre-authorised transactions for our security deposits, which ring-fence the amount within your account, not charge it. This pre-authorised transaction will allow us to make charges if necessary at the end of the rental, but unless this occurs no money will leave your account. Due to the nature of this transaction, the release of these funds may not show on your bank statement as a separate transaction. If you believe that you have been charged your security deposit, please contact your bank and ask them to provide proof of the transaction as a charge on the first day of your rental so that we can look further into this for you. If this amount is still not available in your account after 30 days from the last day of your rental, please contact us at escalation@cs.greenmotion.com. Answer: I believe Green Motion are a perfectly fair and respectful company. I suspect you didn't read their Ts&Cs properly. The two customers being served while I was collecting my car had also not read/understood the conditions and were caught by surprise. The representative dealt with them firmly but fairly.
