The car they rented me was impounded for being a stolen vehicle. The police pulled it over and said it was reported stolen and get around refused to give me a refund. Bizarre experience.

HORRIBLE
THEY OVERCHARGED MY ACCOUNT
I was supposed to get a refund due to the fact that the care I rented had a flat tire
I was told it would take 10 business days... 10 business days went by I didnt hear anything from them.
I reached out to them multiple times regarding this situation and NOTHING
Like most mobile app companies there is no way to get in contact with them via phone so email is all you can do. After countless emails to the company regarding the reimbursement nothing. NOTHING.
At this point, it's like I'm emailing my self. I checked my account to see if they refunded me the money and they didn't, they actually overcharged me. On the app it shows I was charged 176 on my bank account it says 200. Not to mention GETAROUND doesn't contact you when the car you've rented isn't available... TURO is a bit more expensive but that app runs alot more smoothly than GetAround! Get around is should get shut down! F**K GET AROUND

This company are run by a series of crooks. Using good people cars to rent! The inevitable of car incidents are high with the Mexican clueless road defense drivers, alcoholics and then some. Will snag you to pay at some point, stealing your money and under as Americans noses regardless. They cannot get punched out because they operate directly from the Philipines! They play INNOCENT AND hold their breaths long enough to forget while they rob you! And pretend to be supportive depending on their hidden GAME PLAN OF THE DAY, OF THE WEEK OF THE Month! Inevitable car accidents and incidents! They will set up" our Insurance companies or our out of pocket bank accounts - Under "DAMAGE FEE!" and gas light you as to ALSO! Pay any DAMAGESTO THE VEHICLE. EVEN THOUGH THE RESPONSIBLE Party (Damager) PROVIDES THEIR insurance COVERAGE! THIS MIDDLE MAN WANTS ACUT!

This company is full of it...! I spent over 4,000 with them and when i stop renting a car they slapped me with a bill of 600 dollars remind you EVERYTHING is prepaid... they stated i owed a ticket i am willing to pay it but they want me to pay for extension that i did not ask for. I am currently on a call as I am typing this review with Carl and which hos supervisor name is Peter and he is refusing I have been sitting here asking Carl to transfer me he REFUSED so we are sitting here goin on 30 minutes odf "dead air" and he is getting paid to refuse my wishes and transfer me. I wish I had a job that paid me to be rude to customers and ait and get paid to do nothing! I will NEVER RENT from these ppl again. They know like I know this is bs.

Happy until today

I have been using Getaround very often since years. So long that but time they were still called Drivy.

Never a single problem and always paid everything, cared of the cars, good communication and 5-star rating of owners (they diserved), brought back the full tank, etc...

Until today. Basically I took the maxium package size of km for a day (800 km) but I did 1011 km.

These 200 km I wanted to talk to the owner of the care to reduce maximum to 20 €...

1) she ignored me and clicked do through GetAround which is expensive as hell.
2) Instead of more or less logic 20 € it became 70 €!
3) I informed both the owner of the car and Geraround.
4) Both answer the same "We cannot do anything, that's life, go on with it."

With this treatment to a client who has been using this service since years without any issue (not even one)... sorry but good bye and never again.

I needed a nice, cheerful, empathic answer and at least with some middle-solution (like a €20 compensation, for example).

Good bye Getaround, good luck but I won't recommend you anymore. In any case, it got more and more expensive practically the same price as an offical car-renting business.

Stop wasting your time complaining on review sites (tho reviews do help others avoid the fraudsters at Getaround). Go to https://www.bbb.org/file-a-complaint/1116-******* and file your complaint for whatever money taking, account screwing, genuinely illegal activity Getaround staff has done.
For my part, literally every other rental, I have to keep an eye on my inbox for an email stating Getaround has taken more money from my account for something obviously false and easily disproven. I have wasted hours EACH TIME hunting down photos that are already documented in the app and resending them to whichever incompetent, condescending, miserable employee has notified me they took more money from me. They have full, unmitigated access to your funds and can charge, without any notice or prior inquiry, literally as much money as they see fit for anything from a "faulty" fuel readout to an owner trying to pass off a ticket they received prior to me renting the car as being my fault. That latter thing happened despite full documentation on the rental check-in that the ticket was on the car prior to me renting it.
Getaround has to be begged or cajoled into refunding your money and sometimes does not remit the full amount (fraud). Never once have I received any kind of credit to my account or even an assurance they will be more diligent in the future. When using Getaround, be prepared to put in a lot of extra work and documentation + be sure your payment method has at least 2x your total trip rental available so they don't overdraft your account with the extra charges.

NOT PAID ON SMOKE/ODOR/STENCH/TRASHED CARS/BODY DAMAGE CLAIMS ETC.!

GETAROUND IS
FAST/QUICK TO APPROVE & BRING ABUSIVE RENTERS TO US, CAR OWNERS, ON BOARD THE PLATFORM;

BUT EXTREMELY SLOW TO PROCESS AND PAY FOR DAMAGES CAUSED BY THEM, IF PAID AT ALL...!

It's Covid 19 the law states that the car is supposed to be clean and sanitize the car was dirty smelling and had weed and ashes all over I sent pictures of the nasty car y'all charge $100 fine if someone leave the car dirty and $300 fine if it's smoking in the car so why am I not being compensated for picking up the car in these nasty conditions and the do not look like the pictures y'all advertise it's scratches and dents and dirt all over the car I'm calling my bank and disputed these charges it's Covid 19 the law states the car supposed to be Clean sanitized and in safe conditions that is the law I'm being charged all these charges but not compensated for being subjected to a dirty beat up car I'm calling my bank to dispute the charges and 311 to report y'all not following the Covid 19 guidelines

The short version: Awful experience. Got a car that wouldn't start, incompetent and inconsiderate customer service that took an HOUR to get me a new car and didn't seem to think this was an issue worth a refund. Infuriating. Will NOT use again.

I rented a car for this morning only to discover that when I got there, the battery was completely dead and the car wouldn't start. I was relying on that car and I was in a hurry. I tried getting a hold of customer service and it took more than 20 minutes just to get through. When I finally reached someone it took 30 minutes to book a new car down the street. I had to ask them to refund me for the dead car, and they did not offer to do so for the new car, even though now the new car reservation time was an HOUR after my original reservation time. When I asked that they comp the new reservation for such an awful experience, I was told the manager would have to approve but that the he did not have time to talk to me. That was completely outrageous! The manager didn't take responsibility and it was so bureaucratic that the customer service person had to wait for permission from the manager to just get me a new car, let alone a refund. They seem to think that it's not their fault when their experience is crappy. Now I'm waiting for them to get back to me to discuss the possibility of a refund. Ridiculous. Save yourself an ordeal and use a different service.

Getaround claimed after a trip that I caused damage to the car. I am 100% certain I caused no damage whatsoever. They disregarded my analysis as to why it couldn't have been me that caused the "damage" they claim happened. Additionally, they claimed the amount of damage was $27.00 (how is it even possible to cause $27 of damage? Wouldn't that be like a bird turd on the windshield or something?) - which I would have paid just to get them off my back, but they then changed $200 for not reporting the damage! I didn't report it because there was no damage! Even in the event I had caused the $27 in damage, to charge a fee that is 7.5 times as much as the purported damage is insane, and just shows this is a money-making opportunity for them.

Aside from this instance which was the last straw, on 2 separate occasions my ride was cancelled just as I was going to pick up the car, with Getaround claiming the car was stolen! Really? I don't live in a bad area, so that is quite the coincidence. I'm guessing the car owner needed to actually use the car and would get charged a fee for cancelling but not if the car was stolen. One of those times I was on the way to a specialist doctor that I had waited months for to get the appointment. Of course I missed the appointment because I had no car. They don't do anything to try to make the situation right. Horrible horrible company.

If you have a problem there is no customer service. Someone will respond to an e-mail in 72 hours. That's not much good is it.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY EVER. I could give this company zero stars, I would. This whole company has been one MASSIVE inconvenience and I have LOST MONEY while working with them due to their incredibly horrible policies. The first ride I had returned without the gas filled back up and with a broken windshield which I was initially not too concerned with because I knew they would fix it. Wow. That mess turned into months of them assisting me during which I was unable to drive my car and dealing with their horrible customer service is something I would not wish on my worst enemy. Trying to just get their piece of junk equipment out of my car so I can finally stop working with them was a huge, expensive hassle. Their maximum reimbursement amounts do not cover the expenses I had to endure and I did not receive the compensation that was promised to me for the inconveniences due to the broken windshield. I have never been so upset for so many reasons with one company. The only nice person I encountered was a sales rep named, Edgar. I sincerely regret not checking these reviews before I decided to list my car with them. They are a liability and they are untrustworthy.

I rented a Kia from Getaround today. The owner texted me the address of where to pick up the car. He told me to drop it off at the same location. I go to the address, get the car, everything seems fine. When I go to drop it off at the time I was supposed to, the Getaround app won't let me close out the reservation as the car is too far away from its home address. It turns out the "home address" was in some random spot 30 minutes away from where I picked the car up at. The only option the app gave me was to call customer support. I explain the situation, and the guy just decides to charge me for an extra hour without even asking me first or hearing me out, and tells me to drive it to the car's registered home location. I explained that I was AT the location the owner requested me to drop it off at. I had my personal vehicle at this location, and if I drove 30 minutes away to where the car was registered at, I wouldn't have a ride home. It was like talking to a brick wall. His only response was "I charged you for another hour. Drop it off at the other location". I couldn't believe they would just blatantly charge me when I was asking for assistance. I texted the owner and told him what was going on, and he quickly changed the car's home location and I was able to return the car. I will never use Getaround again.

I bought a hotel room this with this website and they been nothing but the biggest piece of nothing they took my money I didn't stay in this hotel and I still have my money I said yes and he wanted to see says to not book anything with this cricket company nothing but thieves just like the hotel stay away from this websiteyeah I have a numbers and I have not called us back with nothing I just want to keep our money and we didn't stay in this hotel so with that being said I don't know how is that even possible that you guys can just steal somebody's money when we can stay there but I'm going to find out and I'm not going to stop in sorry about the spelling but all I'm trying to get it I thought you guys got my money it's been a week now I didn't stay in this hotel one night not at all and you guys got my money still so and you guys have my number and my fiancé's number and you guys have not called back so from what I see is you guys a bunch of thieves

Getaround's business model is to take a percentage of your rental fees, and then stick you with all of the business expenses including repairs and parking tickets that were incurred during a rental. They'll act like your partner until something has to be paid for, and it definitely won't be them.

I put my car for loan on Getaround's platform for about a year from 2019 to 2020. During that time I incurred expenses that Getaround agrees to reimburse in their terms of service, but in the end they refused and I ended up losing a lot of money.

Collision: In early 2020 my vehicle was involved in a collision while it was being rented. Repairs ended up costing me $536. Getaround used their own estimate to determine the cost of repairs and paid me only $416. So I had to pay over $100 for that.

Parking Tickets: In 2020 I discovered my vehicle had $481 in parking tickets and late fees that were incurred while being rented. Getaround paid only $125 and refused to pay the remaining $356 that is owed. So I had to pay over $350 for that.

Control Device: When I wanted to take my vehicle off the Getaround platform, Getaround was unable to send someone to remove their control device from the vehicle because of the pandemic. I had it removed at my dealer at a cost of $61. I understand about the pandemic but this is still Getaround's responsibility. They threatened a large fine if I didn't return the device. So I had to pay over $60 for that.

In the end these expenses that Getaround refused to reimburse were too high and I was losing money month to month. Working with Getaround was not worth the time, money, or frustration.

Can I have a Zero Star?

I am just so upset with the Getaround customer service and care. PLEASE, IF YOU TRYING TO RENT YOUR CAR THROUGH GETAROUND, DO NOT DO IT.

I rent cars for while, but I always use TURO, that the best solution ever, Getaround just make me lose a ton of money. They locked my car through their GPS Device and NEVE LET ME KNEW ABOUT THAT. I had to cancel one month of reservation from Turo, spent a lot with tows and replacing a lot of electrical things, spending about $1,400.00 on labor and materials trying to figure out whats going on with my car, because everything was working, but the car was not been able to turn in giving a signal of (key not detected) I had a locksmith coming, replacing key battery and nothing works, after a lot of pain and money wasted we could figure out that was Getaround device that block my car and I NEVER GET A CALL OR EMAIL from them to let me know about it.

When I talked to them they just say I should call them when I faced the problem, but, HOW I WOULD KNEW WAS THEIR DEVICE? There no way that I could connected thing. How get around can block my property without let me know?
