Worst $#*!ing rental. Fast to take money slow when need to return. Took me more than 600€of $#*!ing deposit and every time they say same $#*!ing $#*! it will be relised today you will get it tommorow. First and last time using that rental app. Not worht one $#*!ing peny
The reason I booked with Getaround was that there was a car available less than a 1 mile from my house. First problem was finding the car in order to start the trip. I wasted over 15 minutes with customer service just to get the exact address where the car was parked. Car had excessive smoke odor. After so many requests, I still haven't been offered a credit for this inconvenience. They charge a 2.50 fee for every toll. Why? Being in NY, there is always traffic. I was charged a late fee for 30 minutes. Major robbery! Never again.
I tried to complain about a driver that was driving someone else vehicle doing illegal turn and putting other driver at risk. They called me and I never in my life was called stupid, woman can drive, woman cannot give directions, and insulted like that before. I have more than 35+ plus year of driving experience and someone to say thing like that is insulting to me and other women drivers. They where unprofessional and didn't take the complain seriously about the drivers. I really don't understand how they are in business.
I first used them a few years ago and they were ok, but now every car you try to book in Philadelphia has an exorbitant security deposit that will not be refunded to you for over a week! If you make money as an Uber driver, that isn't going to work. Also, they no longer offer telephone support. The app wouldn't let me close a trip and I got charged $50 because I couldn't reach anyone on the phone. Eventually my money was returned a few days later, but I shouldn't have had to go thru that. Not a good option anymore for Uber drivers!
I thought everything was good (not great but decent) until two weeks later they used my bank details to take £100 above the agreed payment. Now I can't get anyone to talk to me about the matter or to reimburse me.

AS AN Experienced HOST... I would stay FAR FAR away from this platform. I almost lost my job because a GETAROUND made a mistake and either forgot or made an error with a ride cancellation I requested (you have to call to cancel- ridiculous). The driver came and found my car at my workplace and caused havoc when they found out the car was not available. Way too much liability -- someone can find and pick up your car within 15 minutes of booking, any time of day of night? What happens if it gets damaged with no photo evidence prior to the trip? GOOD LUCK
Can I do ZERO stars? Get Around allowed me to rent a car that was unsafe in several ways. I was using them in an emergency and had no time to pivot. I honestly don't consider myself a tough customer. The car was filthy and even had dried vomit in the passenger side window crease and residue on the door. The low tire alert was on, the key fob didn't work, so I couldn't lock the doors myself. The turn signals blinked inside the car, but once I checked the car's menu, the turn signals and park lights were all out. Not only was it unsafe, but in Chicago, very much prone to tickets and police encounters.
I sent photos and videos to the owner, who never responded to me at all. Not once. I reached out to Getaround, whose rep was nice, and he offered to reimburse a car wash, but hand car washes with attendants are not easy to find in Chicago, so I cleaned it myself so that I could manage my affairs. I have had no follow-up in the last several days. Their cars are priced very high and the level of care for the price is the worst value in the business.
The ease of access to a vehicle was good to have, but not with dried vomit and filth at an enormous price. There's more to it and there are pics and videos. The company needs to raise its standards or get out of the business. Before someone gets hurt. The pics below are just a few.
I don't know whether it was the owner of the car or Getaround itself, but we parked in a safe area with free parking and absolutely no signage stating that parking the next day would be illegal on that street due to street cleaning or other example.
You would think maybe we just didn't notice, however we received 3 traffic violations for parking illegally. After the first ticket we were sure was fake, we paid extra attention, yet still got 2 more tickets.
The last ticket, the third $60 parking ticket, we didn't realize was on the account and that we had to pay it. Since we did not use the app for 2 months we did not realize there was a pending ticket charge. All of a sudden we get an email saying the ticket was void. WTF? That is some bs.
I've been trying for months to book with Getaround. I finally after three weeks got someone on the phone who was absolutely no help. He kept saying wow I don't know what's wrong or why I can't get this rental but here's 20 dollars off your next rental. Well he never could get me a car so that discount never works. I tried again months later and got to the payment page then that discount code said it was invalid so no discount. I tried again and it said my payment declined... I checked my account and I had over 20 times the amount in my account. So I tried my credit card and same thing. I reached back out a week ago and still no one tried to get in touch. Tried again today and no luck. I even tried Instagram and messaging them there. Still nothing. Safe to say they are not worth your time and should be out of business. They are literally the worst company in America
Getaround by far, is one of the worst car sharing apps ever invented. They do not reimburse you for washing dirty vehicles. Most of the vehicles either have the key missing or there are children's toys in the backseat. I tried to get reimbursed for several car issues, including a car wash and was told since the next person who rented after me noticed a dirty back seat then i was not going to be reimbursed.
The only time you get to speak to a customer service representative over the phone is when you are actually renting a vehicle and not anytime after. They do not have a direct customer service number and several agents will be on ticket to address it however they ask you to repeat the same issue all over again instead of checking their system to see if a ticket was already implemented.
I strongly advise using other car sharing apps or an uber. This company needs to be dissolved and dissapear forever... SERVICE SUCKS>.
I'm in Honolulu during peak season, between Christmas and New Year's. The host cancels ONE HOUR before I go to get the car, and customer service calls us to inform of this news. There is not one single other Getaround car available for the times we need it on the entire island of Oahu. They say the best they can do is a refund. I'm stuck without a car and have all these plans booked around the island. This is a horrible company, and my 3rd horrible experience with them. AVOID AT ALL COSTS TO AVOID SPOILING YOUR VACATION.
I rented a car with Getaround for ONE DAY, a 12 hour rental. I originally booked it for 11 hours, but there was so much traffic on the way back that I had to extend it (which cost $27 for an hour). The original 11 hour booking was $140, plus $27 for the 1 hr extension, PLUS $38 for tolls (they charge $2.50 for each toll incurred, even if the toll is just 50 cents). So a 12 hour rental was $205, not including gas that I had to pay. The deposit was $4000 which hasn't come back on my credit card, even though it's been 7 days. They claim it comes back in 7-10 business days– I honestly don't see how this is financially feasible for most people, especially since the deposit comes back soooo slowly.
The crappy car I rented also had the side view mirror completely knocked off when I arrived to get it. The car smelled inside. My other friend who rented a Getaround, her car's trunk didn't even lock properly so she wasted an hour trying to tie it down with string. The quality of cars isn't monitered so you end up paying diamonds for a lemon.
You will not make money. In fact you will lose it. Find another alternative- they charge you for any and everything. Financially not worth. I lost money instead of making money with Uber. Their customer service is a joke and don't care. Toll charges are horrendous. You'll be making them money and you will make nothing! Not to mention they know have access to your bank account. Don't do it! Look at all the reviews - how much more evidence you need. The last car I rented was old and loud and they still charge a heafty amount.

SCAM! BEWARE! " they will empty your account as soon as they get your bank card details! I rented a car through this service everything seemed fine, i even had to bring it back earlier and check out earlier than expected. They refunded me for the hour difference. Brought the car back spotless as expected. Then my deposit money of 400 was still not refunded to my account. It said i had to wait for up to 5 working days which i did. When i reopened the app i realised that they had kept all my deposit money along with extra random costs, i was puzzled i went on my online bank i use for car rentals and realised all my money was gone to their system and in addition they were still trying to take some money from my account, as there were no more than 700 on the account the withdrawal requests were declined since they had already taken everything. I tried to get in contact with them impossibility to get a hold on anyone. BEWARE! THIEVES
Getaround is hands down one of the worst car rental services I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. From start to finish, my experience with Getaround was an absolute nightmare.
Once I finally managed to book a car, I thought the worst was behind me, but I was sorely mistaken. The condition of the vehicle I rented was abysmal. It was dirty, smelled like a wet dog, and had stains on the seats that looked like they had been there for years. I had to spend valuable time cleaning the car myself just to make it somewhat tolerable.
During my rental, I had to deal with a host of mechanical issues. The car was a total lemon, and I feared it might break down at any moment. It's clear that they do not properly maintain their fleet.
To top it off, they claimed 1100 EUR of damage that we did not cause, our lawyer contacted them to dispute this claim and they never replied to his email. We are now pushing forward with our legal action.
In summary, Getaround is a complete disaster. The website is a mess, their customer service is non-existent, the cars are in terrible condition, and their app is an absolute nightmare to deal with. If you value your time, money, and sanity, stay far, far away from Getaround. There are far better car rental options out there.

I was rear ended by someone driving a Getaround car. The insurance they provide has no phone number, no contact info.
You have to call getakound direct and they will not put you in touch with the insurance carrier or the person in charge of the claim.
This should be illegal.

DO NOT RENT ANY CAR FROM Getaround. I was just in a car accident when the police informed me that the car was not registered and or insured! I'm suing the entire company! That's extremely illegal & my life was at risk! They charge for everything and anything but don't even make sure the cars are legally able to be driven or comply with the state law.

The charge way more than the rental price illegally even days after the end of the rental. The checkout agreement was signed a bit late because the owner was not reachable when i wanted to hand him the car. Even though the checkout went perfectly with him and the rental closed, I received an email few days after asking me to pay an extra charge for late return with a crazy amount... Please avoid this service and go for classic rental because this company lacks transparency towards its clients...
Answer: It's a scam, they are super quick to let you join, but once you're in you will be penalized for things you didn't do. They take as much money as they can, then they don't even reply anymore.
