The customer service at getaround is appalling. We are trying to get in contact with a member of staff as our rental is tomorrow and getaround have blocked our account for no reason and kept our payment for our rental. Prices for substitute rentals are now double the price. Getaround uses AI and automated responses instead of humans, we have wasted hours of our holiday trying to get through to getaround. Very disappointed. We will not be using getaround again.
Getaround is an absolutely horrible company. If you care about your car, do not use this "service." The people who run the company are thugs and goons. If you lend your car out through this service, don't be surprised if you end up with nothing. Utterly despicable company.
Getaround is the MOST TERRIBLE car as a service company I have ever heard of. Avoid this service at all costs. They'll take money from you bank without your agreement. Your data and card details are unsafe.
I was hoping to use GetAround for errands in the city. The first rental was okay; the owner was late both in dropping off and picking up, but the rental process was smooth. The second rental involved their useless app, which didn't let me open the car. I phoned the owner of the car, and apparently there is nothing he can do, from his end. He said he would cancel the reservation, but didn't do this, so I was charged for the rental. I complained to GetAround, and they did not do anything (they hung up on me when I phoned and didn't reply to emails,) except to say that I would be charged for the rental. Wont use them again.
I was charged 4 times the agreed price with no serious reasons and nobody to handle
The disputed claim. I am going to report the scam to the police and initiate legal action to get this business closed in France.
I love the car sharing idea and through platform created by Get around, but the App is always delayed, slow, messed up (which is the only way you can book, open a car door or frankly, do anything). Customer Service is NON-EXISTENT! You can only can help during an active reservation, that's if you get the app to work to make a reservation. Sadly, Getaround has wasted a lot of my time! I'm going back to Zipcar until they work out the kinks.
Tried to use this service on two separate occasions and both started and ended in disaster. The cars were a mess, the dash was lit up like a Christmas tree, and both cars absolutely reeked of weed despite being nonsmoking vehicles. No maintenance is ever done on these cars and the owners just let them be run to the ground. The last car that I had rented had a screw in the tire that I had to pay to get replaced because I "didn't document it thoroughly enough during the initial inspection." The only reason that we didn't notice when we took off was that every single tire had low tire pressure and there were a dozen other issues shown on the dash. Not to mention, this wasn't even the car we rented. I was called less than an hour before the rental and informed that the original car isn't available anymore. Literally in the airport about to leave to pick up the car. The customer support was awful, unhelpful, and straight up rude through the whole process. Instead of giving an upgrade or some compensation, I ended up with a worse car and having to pay $200 for a new tire. Same goes for when I tried to pick up and drop off the car. After finding out the neighborhood needed a gate code, I tried to reach out to the owner with no luck so I called their support who basically just called me a liar and said no code was needed while I sat in front of the gate in my Uber. Worst company I have EVER had the displeasure of dealing with. They should be shut down.
Do not use or rent your car on getaround. They do not care about you or your car, I have been renting my car out for about two years on the platform and everything was going fine until someone got into an accident. They have had my car for over a month and do not inform me on what is going on. They moved my car with out me knowing and they have been nothing but disrespectful. The claims team is a joke and not helpful at all
Horrible company. Don't waste your time and money with this company they are so unprofessional and rude and don't help you with any problems. They don't have answers to anything. It's a scam of a business. Plus they don't refund you the security deposit.
I rented my car out already several times with Gettaround. But during the latest rental the renters hid some damage to the door, a piece is lose, and they tried to click it back in. But it loosens very easy?
Obviously i did not notice this while receiving the car, and Gettaround is saying now that they can't do anything about it.
However i feel left in the cold by the platform, because they are not responding to any of my questions.
Does anyone, renters or anyone else have experience with this? How can i activate Gettaround to do something?
Obviously i lost my trust in Gettaround, because if any renters try to hide their damage they will very easely get away with it! Gettaround will not do anything to protect their owners. So i'm not renting my car out anymore.
Overcharged and fined for none of my mistakes. Favors Renter over Rentee, small errand n grocery shopping become nightmare. For $43 original rental got charged with $437 + $200+ $43 where none of my mistake follow all there rules.
Getaround is, in fact, a scam. I received an alert from Apple Pay, saying that someone has accessed my account. Then I receive an alert that my bank account has been drained. This is not the first time they have charged my account with out authorization. In the past it was $50 here and there. They did refund those and apologize for the error. This makes number four and has completely drained my bank account. My partner is a server who recently lost her job due to Covid. So finances are already tight. The exact same day my partner lost her job Getaround drains my account. They are a scam. They will steal your money. They will hack your account information. You will be in the same boat as me. This I can promise.
This app is a terrible app. The customer service is poor. I requested to speak to a supervisor and for my account to be deactivated as this is the second time I have been charged inaccurately for faulty charges without the opportunity to dispute. Very disgusted. Use turo or Zipcar! This app sucks! They're full of $#*!. I've hired a lawyer now out of my pocket to handle this matter. I will be reporting this fraudulent company.

I was a loyal customer for 7+ years leasing the cars and then decided to rent out my own car. One of their "mechanics" BRoke my car! Now my whole system is locked and no one knows what to do to fix my car!
The company is doing everything to avoid the responsibility.
What a sleazy business. RUN! Don't trust them with your car or they will break it and won't pay to fix it. Insurance won't cover the damages too because it happened under the watch of 3rd party! This is the most horrible company ever!

What. A. Nightmare. This is the third time we've been locked out of our car due to their "automatic rental". Two renters have canceled. We've called four times, not including the times we called while trying to help the renters get in the car. The first call, I spent 45 minutes of my work day repeating the same conversation to customer service. She assured me there would be a technician sent then hung up without any other info. I called the next day. Same thing. I called again. This time I was to wait for a colleague to call me back. Today I called again. This time I was given a number to call to set up my own appt with the technician. I call. The office isn't open on the weekends. We're still without a family car for a week so far. And this is the third time. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT RENT YOUR CAR OUT ON THIS SITE.
I've been renting my car out on getaround since December and while I've made some decent money on it, the service is just soo poorly designed and whenever they $#*! up, customer service doesn't seem to care one bit. I had some $#*! smoke cigarettes in my car, and Getaround did nothing. I ended up having to detail it myself. Also had some $#*! put 2000 miles on my car in a weekend, and If I hadn't noticed the huge jump in mileage, they wouldn't have charged him for the extra miles. I've got a laundry list of issues but I don't have time to list them.
It's honestly just been a total headache and hardly worth the money. $#*! getaround.
Worst experience ever. Owner fabricated a charge and there was nothing I could do about it because everything is virtual. They're simply not set up to run tightly. Took $100 clean out my account with no real merit
I rented acar in France, the car was dirty, old, dangerous. The owner lied and I was charged more than 100€. I tried to contact the customer service and not only they never answered but the cancelled my reviews!

Rented car for a week plus $250 deposit which never got back.I had couple dollars left used my $40 voucher plus $20 to get to rental for the host never to respond after 4 hrs get around never responded for me to get to car and it would not connect and unlock I called Uber they said to contact the othe me company. I had no money to get back home. Now I got there late because I didn't know I had rental for 6 hrs earlier no notification or anything. When first renting my card wouldn't go through so I left it alone for me to find out that it ended up charging me and I found out because I looked at my statement. A month and still no refund on 600 some dollars. I called my credit card and they have been trying to get in touch and yet nothing

Times and I'm never using the service again. They come up with any reason to fine you for insane things that aren't legitimate. Stay away. I'm shocked that they have scammed me so much considering I was a good customer

Answer: It's a scam, they are super quick to let you join, but once you're in you will be penalized for things you didn't do. They take as much money as they can, then they don't even reply anymore.
