Was looking for a unique and useful gardening tool to purchase for my Mom for Mother's Day and came across Garrett Wade's website.
I ended up buying several products, not just for Mom but for myself as I easily navigated my way to the woodworking tools section.
I'm now a fan of Garrett Wade and can't wait to introduce this website to my friends. Excellent stuff...
Always the highest quality products. Well worth the money! Sometimes shipping can be a little slow, compared to other on-line retailers, but I've always found it worth the wait.
I have been buying from Garrett Wade for many years. The uniqueness and quality AND usefulness of their products is excellent. I recently purchased Thread Snips and Machined Brass Seam Ripper for my wife who has started quilting and she loves them. Good company, good service, good products.
I first ordered from Garrett Wade in 2015- a weeding tool for my father who has back issues. He loved it, so I decided to try some of their gardening tools out for myself. I am glad I did because I've been using the same set of pruners for 5 years now and haven't had to run to Home Depot for a cheap replacement like I used to. I've never had a problem with customer service as some others have, but I know they're a small operation, so it might happen from time to time. If you're looking for high quality tools for gardening or woodworking, I'd highly recommend. Have had nothing but good experiences with them.

I recently wrote a one-star review for "lousy" customer service but am now giving Garrett Wade 5 stars. Right after my review was published, the company's customer service manager contacted me and fixed the problem. They earned me back as a loyal and enthusiastic customer thankfully, because they have great tools.
Nothing is good or correct when you deal with Garrett-Wade company. Avid it in the first place.
First all, the deal they offer me was 2 for the price of 1. I only receive 1 item. Honestly I could catch it, cause the e-mailed receipt show only one item. I assumed falsely they were honest.
Shipping: They charge over $ 12.00 for small, 2 once package. They tax the shipping cost, although they shouldn't? Only companies located in the state of Illinois charges tax on shipping in the USA.
These guys are a rip off from the start to the end. Avoid them.
You purchase an item, get an email with a tracking #. The tracking # is a sham, you get a tracking # but the item has not been given to UPS yet. It can be days before they actually give the item to UPS. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THIS SITE AGAIN. Look somewhere else for same quality products.
We have been long time customers of Garrett Wade, but that is coming to an end. I purchase several items for gifts this holiday. When I ordered, I was offered a free flashlight... no biggie, but seemed like a nice perk. I also ordered two folding shovels. When the order was placed, everything was listed as in stock. The order confirmation showed that 1 of the shovels was back-ordered and would be shipped later. This was Dec 6th. On Dec 24, the shovels were listed as in stock on the web page, but they had never shipped. I contacted customer service and was told that the items would no longer be carried - however, not only were they still listed for sale on the website, they were listed as being in stock and I could add up 6 of them my cart. Not back ordered, not unavailable. I asked about this and the flashlight... and was told that the website and their stock were out of sync... and they had accidentally canceled the flashlight with the shovels and it could not be reinstated. Such a shame- not only their apparently ineptitude, but the complete lack of caring about their customers. We were wondering if they are under new ownership. This is such a difference from the Garrett Wade we have known.
I tried to purchase a product on the Garrett Wade website and I was confirming my order when I was suddenly directed to a new page that states "Error w're currently having technical issues please try again later". I tried to order the product a second time and the same thing happened so I gave up purchasing the product from Garrett Wade. I then received an email saying thank you for visiting the Garrett Wade website we noticed you have items in your cart and we've reserved them. Anyone with common sense would think "ok my order didn't go through". Instead I received 2 emails two days later saying my items have been shipped. I never received a receipt for the purchased that apparently went through during the technical difficulties. I called Garrett Wade and talked to three different people who all said the same thing "ma'am there's nothing we can do". I even spoke with a supervisor who sounded like she was half asleep and could care less about my situation. Absolutely ridiculous customer service and website. To anyone in the future considering ordering anything from Garrett Wade DON'T. I don't care if there are positive reviews posted on this site the amount of stress and frustration is not worth going through trust me.
On 11/22/2019 I bought a stainless precision caliber. Cost $36.92 with shipping. It did not measure, it fell apart and had terrible tool marks and subpar workmanship. I returned it. No refund to date. They claim they had problems processing the refund "on their end". Nothing but excuses, poor communication and inexcusably poor customer service. Never buy their crappy poorly made junk.
I can't speak highly enough of the quality of the leather tool tote! I initially ordered three for the guys on my Christmas list. After seeing an examining the leather and the quality of the craftsmanship- I found myself ordering another one Now that's a lot of money for a tool bag. I think you are selling yourself short by not calling it an all purpose tote. I am a very busy woman -constantly running-And I would absolutely love carrying this bag on a daily basis to and from my car with everything I'll need for the day! It is extremely sturdy since being made specifically for guys and tools! I'm telling you it should be marketed as a steal of a deal for a unisex all leather /handmade square bottom everyday carryall tote - I wish my family would gift me one
I ordered the portable brass candle lantern for a friend. The tool was perfect and of great value. My friend was extremely happy and has had no issues. Great company would recommend.
This now the third time i've ordered from Garrett Wade and in all three cases the item ends up not being in stock and takes 30 - 60 days to get the item. This time they offered a free item with the purchase. I got the free item today and when I called about the rest of the order they said they were expecting it stock in 2 - 3 weeks. What really got me angry about this, is that because they sent me the free promotional item, they charged my credit card for the shipping. I could get nowhere with the customer service dept. as she keep saying that "this is the way we do it here". Charging me the $15 shipping when all they sent was the freebee really is giving them my money to spend for the next 30 - 60 days. When I said I would send back the free item because I didn't want to be charged until I got the item I ordered she said they couldn't take the item back. This is clearly a way for them get money without sending you what you ordered. Be careful with this company. I've now got three experiences where they didn't have what they said they have and now they are in my mind fraudulently taking my money.
I have subsequently been working with Orin Fraser at Garrett Wade and he's admitted to the mistake being made and has made the issue right in my mind. Thanks to Orin for fixing the issue.
I received a gift of things I already had. I tried to exchange them by following the clear exchange directions on the mailing label that came with my order. The company said they don't do exchanges and refused to honor what was clearly laid out in the form. They said the only way is to return the items and credit back to the original form of payment. As this was a gift, the gift recipient (me) loses the gift. The package was also missing items from the original order. NEVER BUY FROM THEM and NEVER DEAL WITH THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I hear that this used to be a good and trustworthy company; WHAT CHANGED?

I ordered from Garrett-Wade in January, 2019, using gift certificates I got for Christmas. To pay the balance of the amount due (what the certificates wouldn't cover), I submitted my credit card.
According to Garrett-Wade's own receipt, my credit card was to be charged $17.60, but when I got my credit card statement, Garrett-Wade had charged $52.70 instead. That's an additional $35.10.
So far, Garrett Wade customer service has not refunded my card, their management team is still 'researching'. I'm not hopeful that they will own up to their mistake so I'll probably have to mess with my credit card company.
Overcharging someone's credit card is the same as theft. I'll never shop at Garrett-Wade again.

Besides high quality specialty tools, they have regular, every day use tools that will last for generations. These are tools that you will hand down to your children, and then to their children... etc.
A pleasure to use, you'll find yourself looking for excuses to use them, you might just finish that 'honeydo' list!
Everything I have ever purchased from Garrett Wade has been a great price for even better value. Always looks better than the pictures. Customers service is amazing and very fast to fix the issue.
I'm in the UK and I don't always get good results when ordering from USA. But I have to say Garrett Wades customer service was excellent. The communications were excellent and they replied very quickly. Product arrived after only 10 days and without any import tax that I often get stung for. Just excellent and the product and free gift are great. Have been and will continue to recommend them to folks here in UK.
