I started ordering from Freshly recently. I had one order so far and the meals are high in calories for the most part. I am a diabetic so I don't think it will work for me. I called and spoke to a person named Mel and he tried to tell me how to choose my meals that might work better for me. I have one more order coming then I believe i will have to cancel. They don't cater for special diets!.

“Impossible to cancel - they keep reactivating and charging”

We were given a gift voucher on Freshly, which we used up. Cost is too high to keep going, so we cancelled. When you cancel on their website, they instantly e-mail that your subscription is re-activated. I e-mailed their customer service (Alexander) and asked for a cancellation which he confirmed. But no - it's auto-reactivated and the next customer service rep (Will) can't do a thing about it. This time I blocked them in Paypal. Freshly is a fraud. The chef isn't crying in their apron about the cancellation. They're busy fraudulently reactivating accounts.

The actual service and convenience is amazing. Literally is just comes to the door, heat it to and eat it. Stores well. However, coming from Hello Fresh the quality if food, flavor, spice and quality of meat is sooo disappointing. And there are so options without meat as the main dish. So because the meat sucked, I thought all let me try some veggie options. None. I wouldn't waist my money.

The meals are pretty true to the description. Tried quite a few meals, and none were bad. After the first few weeks, the consistency diminished. Even the favorite meals were only "OK". Also, often you had to plan when to eat the meals because often the "best by" date was only a day or two after delivery. Not sure if I will continue with the service.

I was trying to get some type of promo code or loyalty discount bc I am a college student and have been ordering 12 meals a week at $500 month for the last 3 months. CJ sent me a link to student beans which appeared to show a 15% discount on your "first 4 orders". When I asked CJ if this code would work since I am a current customer and not a new customer, CJ replied "You can try this code I dont know if it will work". Not exactly what I wanted to hear. Somebody in customer service should know if the code would work or not. Also, there should be a better loyalty customer program.

I really like the convenience of Freshly, and the food was pretty good quality. The veggies were fresh, and the chicken was tender. But I just really don't having so many meat-centered meals in my diet! Where are the options with little or no meat in them? I just don't feel like there were options for people like me who prefer seafood (there were only 1 or 2 seafood options, one of which I can't eat because of the chili spice in it) and prefer vegetable-based meals. I'm just not a fan of so much meat, so I can't continue my subscription.

It sounded and looked like a great idea. They even ask your preferences: Do you like beef? Pork? Chicken? Fish? Shellfish? But every week you get to choose between 30 meals - 90% based on a chicken breast with some sauce and mushy rice or veggies that have little taste.
There are NO fish or shellfish meals - so why did they ask?
And I found only one beef meal and two shredded pork meals - the rest were chicken, chicken and more chicken.
The worst part is the meal choices seldom vary. You get the same choices week after week.
This company had a great idea, but they crapped out when it came to providing actual quality and variety. So unless you enjoy the basically same meal repeated night after night - don't waste your money.

The meal preferences is for ingredients you're wanting to avoid in case you have allergies, in that case then there will be a warning icon for any meals that include the ingredient you had selected! Initially I was not going to write a review but after seeing yet another misleading TV commercial featuring portions that look appetizing and nearly twice the size of what is actually delivered I just had to say something. Isn't this actually unethical if not illegal? Someone should look into this -- either the Better Business Bureau or the Dep't. Of Consumer Affairs.
I signed up with Freshly during the height of the COVID crisis here in early spring. To save myself having to go out shopping I thus went for a weekly 12-meal plan -- MISTAKE! I also did not realize that this was a subscription service. Twelve meals per week for a single person is a lot and I am not the type to consider a dinner meal as a lunch meal. It became necessary to start skipping a week or two at a time as there were just too many meals coming in. Refrigerator space became premium. Despite several attempts at ordering fewer than 12 meals I repeatedly received a notice that in order to receive a "savings" I would still need to order the full twelve. There seemed to be no option to opt out of my original delivery plan. Additionally, having tired of the mostly bland meals, I tried to switch to some of the newer suggested options. Guess what? That didn't work either. Somehow the order went through with SIX! Turkey and white bean chili bowls! Seriously?! I didn't like any of the meals well enough to order more than one per order. Speaking of the dishes themselves-- really small, inconsistently-sized portions -- most of them were bland and under-seasoned with salt substituting for any real spices. Who is back in the kitchens anyway--a pinch of this and a pinch of that... I had to add in my own spices and seasonings to make them palatable. Also, too much reliance on rice as a staple. Not good for those who are pre-/diabetic.
As positives-- great seamless delivery system. Boxes were left in my specified location. Only had two deliveries that were delayed by one day with no effect on the ice packs. Received a coupon for the next order. Thoughtful, environmentally-conscious packaging.
Finally, out of sheer frustration I cancelled my subscription.

I am unhappy with the deliveries; the delivery person on the last 2 trips did not ring the doorbell. I need to know when the meals arrive in order to get them into the fridge asap. I am thinking about stopping my subscription due to this problem, among other reasons. The food, however is very good.

Food was good. Don't like the automatic subscription and renew without confirming with me. Reg from customer service was helpful and quickly stopped the order and the subscription. Bottom line don't force your services on me and I'll come back as a customer, force your services on me and you will never see me come back even if the food is good.

Under weight, and low on protein portion. 280g vs 384g on package. At least 20% less food then advertised

Tip for consumers:
I use Sunday delivery so I have post workout meals and lunches for the whole work week. Meals freeze and reheat fine, so no wasted money and you don’t need them all during the week. (Though they clearly state they are best eaten fresh, still delicious.)

Service, but I do have a couple of comments I'd like to make.
1. Variety:
There is SO much chicken on
Your menu! I would love to see
Some fish or vegetarian dishes.
While I do eat beef & pork, (BTW,
Your peppercorn steak is quite
Tasty!) the red meat selection
Seems so small in comparison
With the poultry dishes.

2. Texture:
I find many of the dishes to
Be diced & chopped to the
Point that the dish is more
Like toddler baby food.

Taste:
In general, the seasoning &
Sauces are done quite well.
I did, however, find the Laredo
Chicken not at all Southwestern
As the name would imply.

New to Freshly. I find that Chili is the best. I had turkey with dressing last night. Turkey and veggies was ok, the dressing was NOT good. First all there was no way that dressing ever tasted like that. You need to find some other way to make dressing. But without bread I don't think that you can. Thank you.

Freshly sends an email showing your current selections. They look good so why bother to check. If you do check, you may find that the meals have randomly changed. And customer service replies with pasted, scripted responses the majority of the time, even when you ask them not to. Yes, they rotate meals. But they rotate out meals my Dad is able to eat and that he has selected for many months and that have good ratings. Customer service then says that a meal is still available and if I want to order it I still can. I say yes only to receive a response from another customer dissupport person that the meal is no longer available.

Tip for consumers:
Their website is really bad. You have to check meals every week no matter what the reminder email shows.
Customer service is scripted and have limited ability to do anything. If you can get a supervisor/manager, they have been extremely helpful but 1st line support does not seem to offer that solution path. I guess it is not in their answer scripts.

Products used:
6 meals per week.

3 deliveries, 3 issues. Always a day late, taking one of the days the food is good before it expires. 6 meals (6 days) but food only good for 4 days because 1 day wasted with late delivery. App doesn't get updated. 1 delivery to the wrong floor/apartment. One left in the lobby. Food is good though.

I liked the idea and the convenience right off the bat. Working late doesn't leave a lot of time for preparing a good meal, so I thought Freshly might be a way to make lunches and dinners ore quickly and healthily.

For the first month, I really enjoyed the food. It was novel because I got to eat vegetables and other foods that were prepared differently than I was used to. And then it went "blah."

The recipes don't change frequently enough for variety. Also, they appear to favor the same cuts of meat even if it is a new recipe.

There is a major avoidance of truly ethnic foods, a lot of the "cultural" foods are kept very generic with a light hand towards the spices and flavorings.

Generally, it is a good deal if you don't mind food monotony. It just didn't work for me.

Just subscribed to freshly. Then they raised the shipping fees. I'm on the second meal and they are so far terrible. Needless to say I canceled my subscription. I'm looking for another meal delivery

I used Freshly over a 4 month time period. I loved it at first, portions were just right and taste was good. On July 4th I experienced my first failed weekly delivery. I received an email the night i was supposed to get the delivery and refund with $20 credit. Didnt think much of it due to the holiday. Around this time portions began to get smaller, I received a meal I didnt order, and my box got delivered to my neighbors one time. Luckily I caught it and brought it back. The last straw was 2 more failed deliveries in a row which left me scrambling to meal prep. Here in my denver area they only offer 1 delivery day per week, so not getting these meals as expected was annoying. Not to mention the delivery would show up a day late at which time I was told by the company to dispose of it. Very wasteful. Canceled after this. Customer service was responsive but what good are credits if they never deliver?
