We purchased the Fanshield protection, and the day before the event we were diagnosed with COVID-19. I submitted a claim only to be told that COVID-19 is a pandemic and pandemics and epidemics are exclusions in their policy and that we would "not" be reimbursed the $714 in tickets. Fan shield is a scam and the customer service is incredibly rude. Do not buy this protection as it will do nothing in the event you need to file a claim. Research there 1star ratings and reviews online and you will see what a shame full scam Fanshield and Markel Insurance Company is! You should be embarrassed by your online presence Markel and Fanshield!
FanShield would not reimburse me for tickets for my aunt's funeral due to her passing away more than 30 days (35 to be exact) prior to the tickets. Her funeral was scheduled on the date of the event.
This company shouldn't be in business! The're rats in stilling people's money. I say that because I paid 30$ protection weather and a 10$ insurance fee in case I couldn't attend the event I was going to. I never got my refund. They make it so complicated and almost impossible to get your refund for the event you can attend. Unless you're dieing in hospital, or your loved ones, or unless you have ton of paper work proves why you can't go to the event. I lost 256$! Because my car won't start. I missed my flight. And they asking me for proves of mechanical repair, parts I bought, towing my car bills etc. It is a SCAM COMPANY! I actually can't call them a company either! Thwy don't stand behind customers satisfaction and protection! Rats! I hope this rat office will be closed soon! I came to write a review, and only than I saw, that it has such a bad and low rating. And I am not the only one very disappointed and dissatisfied with their service. Please don't buy anything through them! You will regret!
Denied coverage due to the wife getting covid. Of course they don't tell you it's not covered when they sell it to you but only when you try and use what you pay for
I requested a refund to be issued due to me getting sick and being positive for COVID-19. I provided a doctor's note stating that I was out sick for 5 days and not able to attend the event due to be very sick. This company is a joke. My request was denined due to the company not covering a pandemic. THIS IS NOT A PANDEMIC, I WAS SICK FOR DAYS. This company is okay with their customers going to events ill and exposing others to possibly become ill themselves. I did everything I was suppose to do with providing supporting documents with my doctor's visit and still this company failed me. I go to concerts and other events very regularly and NEVER needed to utilize my insurance plan until now. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE AN INSURANCE PLAN FROM THEM EVER AGAIN. I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS COMPANY AS THEY WILL KEEP YOUR MONEY EVEN IN AN ACT OF AN ILLNESS OR EMERGENCY.
I got this "stupid" (waste of money) insurance because I was concerned that one of the 10 people in my party was going to get COVID, and guess what? It was ME! So when I cancelled Gaylord of the Rockies ice skating tickets that I paid $227 for, I thought, "thank GOD" I got the insurance! But when I filed the claim I was told COVID related illness was NOT COVERED! You are kidding me right?
I attempted to get a refund a week in advance of a concert due to a medical issue that arose. Without boring you with the details, they asked why I bought the tickets AFTER having a medical procedure (cataract surgery), which resulted in complications that prevented me from attending the event. I provided documentation from a doctor. After a few back and forths they seemed to be resigned to the fact that they would be giving me a refund. Then they asked about my "relation" to the second ticketholder. I said girlfriend and said that she wouldn't be going to the concert herself. THEN they actually asked "Are you domestic partners?" WTF does THAT have to do with anything. I got frustrated and said if it is too complicated to understand why she isn't going that they can just give me a refund for one ticket. After all this craziness they wound up giving me a full refund. But this was after a few times sending me an email saying my request was denied. Only because I kept on getting them documents did I wind up getting it and I was surprised it even happened.
So do yourself a favor and do NOT deal with this scam-worthy company unless you're prepared to pretend you're a lawyer providing "evidence" for your request.
Purchased tickets to 3 events for myself, my husband and our 21 year old daughter. We were going to stay at the Gaylord Texan but my daughter couldn't get off work and my husband works 6 hours away during the week and curls find a replacement in time. After trying to work around everyone's schedules, I had no choice but to cancel. When I started my refund "work related conflict" was an option. Fanshield asked for a receipt, gave it to them. Then they wanted a work note from my husband and daughter. OMG! How does a 50 year old man that works on transmissions for a large power company ask for a note. Same for my daughter. REGRETTABLY when we had to cancel to Gaylord Texan, they gave me no trouble at all. Wow.

We are sorry you are unable to attend the Event.
Due to the requirements of the Protection Coverage, the policy states certain information be supplied for us to process a claim for reimbursement. A 'Work Travel' peril would be covered under the following:
"You are required to travel for work-related purposes, which would not allow you to attend the event. To receive benefits, you must provide proof of the conflict that occurred after the Effective Date, in the form of a receipt for travel booked after the Effective Date. Self-employed workers, interns, volunteer workers, or any other unpaid workers do not qualify for coverage under this peril."
For this peril, supporting documentation would include travel documentation such as a flight itinerary, hotel receipt, or rental car receipt indicating the departure and return dates, along with a signed and dated note from the Ticketholder's supervisor on company letterhead indicating the Ticketholder is required to travel for work-related purposes during the date(s) of the Event.
I purchased tickets on the first day when Eric Clapton tickets went on sale for the Frank Erwin Center for September 15,2021. When I purchased them, I was hoping that my daughter and I would be able to go and the COVID numbers wouldnt increase. My daughter is high risk because she has Chronic Lung Disease and asthma because of prematurity. I purchased the ins for the tickets just in case. These LIARS failed to tell me that they would NOT reimburse me my money because of COVID. NOW I'm out of right at $200.00.
PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE SCAMMERS. THEY ARE MAJOR RIPOFFS.
Don't care about covid I guess they want us to go being infected spread this $#*! lol what a damm ripe off stay away next stop bbb sad as excuse for co
Company claims you will get a refund in certain circumstances. Bout tickets to a show and my son ended up in the hospital. No refund, no response.
They would not cover our claim even due to a miscarriage. What a pathetic company. Total scam and not worth the money.
Don't trust fan shield. You're better off not getting insurance at all. You won't get your money back either way
I was told I would get a refund by customer service. I didn't. Now I am told I had been lied to and will not get a refund.
