I booked a car rental for a month long business trip. Email came through. Then a Second email requesting my passport or drivers lisc and the credit card be scanned to them. Went to bed, flew out in early am and arrived finding no reservation. After 30 min of searching the counter person found my reservation canceled. There was a follow up 3rd email asking if I would have the cc with me at the car rental. Because I did not answer the 3rd email they canceled my reservation leaving me to book directly with the rental agency costing me and my company a lot more money.
Completely unacceptable and this booking company is no longer to be used by my employer.
Use a different booking company.
Rented a car through hotwire, pickup off offsit today at FLL. I used my own insurance, they charged 3 dollars per day extra for the "privelege" of doing so. No choice, other than paying over 200 dollars for one week of liability insurance (without collision, that my credit card would have covered. Nowhere was that disclosed. I will dispute with my credit card company.
This company should be called Economy Lowrentacar.
I book through internet and py my carrental, later they again at the airport charged me for carrental I discover that after a few days. Also they charged too much fuel. Went to the office of Enterprise: "sorry, you shouldn't have paid through the internet, that's a different comany they only do reservation?! You have to contact them yourself to get your money back. Oh sorry yeah we did charge too much fuel, no you don't get refund, but next time we will give you 10% discount" There will be no next time, this one day of car rental cost me about €120! Only driving from Keflavik to Reykjavik. Never again I will rent a car with you!
We had an accident in our trip and the company was very kind and helpfull with us. They refunded all our cost and gave us full suport. Im very happy and pleased with the company. For now on i will just rent a car with economycarrentals!
I was foulish to rent from this company without searching for reviews. I got to the airport in Bucharest, a guy was waiting for me and told me he has to drive me to the rental place, outside of the airport. We got to this hole in the wall where he told me that he will have to block $5000 on my credit card in case of damage. Also he told me that the $5000 will be held 30 days after I return the car. Additionally he tried to sell me extra insurance liability coverage, although I already paid for a full coverage through Orbitz. When I started to get agitated about it, he told me to wait outside as he has another costumer. I guess he was afraid I would scare someone else away. I decided to just leave, return to the airport and get a legit car rental company. I strongly suggest everyone stays away from economy car rental!
This experience was the worst. There was an infestation of baby spiders all over outside and inside the car. We had to jumpstart the car to get it to work. We also didn't even get the car that we originally wanted and it wasn't anything close or comparable either. We tried to get a new car but they said they do not have a manager or boss of the company also the person that we spoke to was extremely rude to us and couldn't even give us any help at all.

Economycarrentals is a disaster. They falsely advertise "no credit card fee". NOT TRUE! For me it was $126. Can. Right off my booking ON LINE through them (four months before departure) for a Madrid rental with RecordGo, an upstart Spanish car rental company. Moreover, the clerk of RecordGo refused to honor my booking on absurd documentary reasons. We then went over to a competitor at the airport who rented me a vehicle with same documents, without any question, but at a much higher price. Eventhough I could have asked compensation for the different price, I only wrote for the refund of the initial booking fee collected by Economycarrentals... WITHOUT ANY RESPONSE. So Economycarrentals and RecordGo make a fine team of crooks and liars that deserve all the bad publicity they can get.
When booked a fare was shown, which differt VERY MUCH from the one we had to pay as we picked up the car at the airport.
After contacting the customer Service, we did not receive any Response from their side.
I will never use the Service again

Booked a vehicle for pickup in Greymouth, New Zealand after completing the Tranz Alpine train journey. Received a booking confirmation an E-Voucher from Economy Car Rentals (ECR) to present to their local supplier Europcar in Greymouth. At this time $120.19 was charged against our Visa card as a deposit by ECR. Presented the E-Voucher to Europcar counter to be told there was no vehicle as the one allocated had been returned damaged. Had to hire a rental from another company which was considerably more expensive. Have endeavored to get a refund of our deposit for the vehicle not provided by sending various emails but too date this has been unsuccessful. Europcar tells ECR that we declined the vehicle which is totally untrue as we weren't even offered a vehicle as a replacement. Steer clear of both Economy Car Rentals and Europcar, they cannot be trusted.
EconomyCarRentals is another business name for the CROOKS, Carflexi.com. I booked an Alamo car through Carflexi and brought all the documents they required, as well as additional documents (council tax bill and bank statement, 3 forms of photo ID) and gave 3 personal references. Alamo STILL refused to rent to me because their third-party app did not pass me based on my name and address (where I've lived for 6 years).
Now Carflexi REFUSES to refund me the £35 booking fee, claiming it was because I DIDN'T bring adequate documentation! FRAUDSTERS!
Paid $125 online. For four days of rent. Used my own insurance. Was pretty happy about the services BUT On the day of return received a message that I had two options to return the car: drop it off at the same place and do whatever I want in the middle of nowhere or go to another office Aladdin and be charged additional fees for shuttle services. The agreement didn't contain such terms and conditions, nor did the rep had warned me about these terms. If I knew, I wouldn't even rent from them, I would rather pay extra $ and rent a car directly from the airport next time.
They are now stating I had to read their website, thus, the agreement and contract, based on their statement, is not a doc to rely on (contradicts any legal standards). They have charged me $157 instead without my authorization, I authorized the payment of $125 only. Very unpleasant situation. Wouldn't deal with them again. This happened in San Diego, CA. Called them about 5 times and emailed back and forth with local manager Fernando. Zero result. Lack of customer services.
On a separate note, they have sent me a list of images of the car I didn't even rent. The car I rented was white and not grey and was returned in perfect conditions.

I reserved and prepaid for a rental car with Economy Rent A Car a month in advance to guarantee my rate. This was a NO CANCELLATION contract. My flight was cancelled and I was unable to pick up my car until the next day. I called Economy to notify them that I would pick up the car the next day. Upon arriving I was charged an additional $170 because Economy cancelled my contract and was now charging me at a higher rate. If I am unable to cancel the contract, why can they? I was not looking to be refunded for the day I missed and I was certainly not expecting to pay an extra $170. The customer service and corporate office was extremely unprofessional when handeling this dispute. I would NEVER recommend using this rental car company. Shame on them!
March 28,2017 I have posted the review about my experience with very rude representative when I called economycarrentals.com. Next day the customer service manager contacted us. She was very pleasant and professional. She even called me (Canada). So, we decided to give them one more chance.
Here is the update: We are back from our trip to Hungary and I can say that our experience this time was GREAT!
No hassle to book. Furthermore, our flight with KLM was delayed 6 hours, so we had to fly one day later to get our connection in Amsterdam. I could cancel the reservation last minute and make a new one, so we did not pay for the extra day.
The whole rental process with Budget (BUD) was very good and friendly, both pick-up and drop off. The car was better then we expected! Almost new, diesel. The representative inspected the car at the end and signed on the invoice - no new marks. Charge on visa was exactly as stated during pick-up ("no surprises" yet).
We are going back to Budapest in 2 month for the wedding and we are planning to use economycarrentals.com again.
Please be aware of this company.
I decided to cancel my booking due to reviewing the fine print on my voucher; I sent emails that confirmed my worries and read reviews. I now wish I had read reviews before I booked with this company.
I got a generic email saying my refund was processed on 24 February 23. I called the bank, as Economy Car Rentals said an international refund could take up to 30 days. That is not the case; the bank clarified today that it will always be notified that a refund has been raised. Regardless of what country, international transfers would take seven working days to clear into an account.
I have asked in numerous emails to get proof of a processed refund (EFT remittance), not a generic email. And my emails have been ignored.
The terms stated on the website are free cancellation if done before 48 hours. This was done four months before my holiday— terms to do state that I must wait 30 days for my refund.
This has caused me enormous stress as I am being ignored and worried I will not get my money back.
Please do not book with this company.

Normally I have had great success with EconomyCarRentals, but my first bad experience shows that they do not resolve problems well. I had reserved a car in Jerusalem City Center for 4 days. I paid Economy their deposit and they provided me their voucher. Problem is that the Budget rental car company in Jerusalem would not honor it since they said I was a "no-show." I was there exactly to the minute of the agreement. I found out that Economy had made a computer error booking my reservation a month earlier than the contracted time and making it for 33 days. I then had to take same day rate for the only car left there or anywhere and have to pay half again more than the voucher. Economy had no phone they answer. I informed them by email within a week including all of the paperwork showing them their error. I requested the difference between the voucher and what I paid. They said to give them a few weeks, which I did. It has now been six months with emails every month. They don't deny the problem, but they pass the buck to the Budget or act like they don't understand how such a thing could happen. Either way I made a contract with them and their voucher was worthless because of their input error. Still no resolution. I think the keep putting their head in a hole hoping it will go away or I will die waiting. A mark of a good company is how they handle problems. This is a black and white very objective problem. I am surprised especially since I am (or should I say was) a big fan of theirs.
Have been a client of this company for a few years. Last time I booked with them Sixt refused to give me the car in Brussels airport saying my driving license was not valid because it was not in the format required by their documentation terminal (which is not my fault). Went right next to Avis and they promptly gave me a car.
Contacted economycar rentals, they took a month to check my inquiry and in the end said Sixt told them my documentation was not vaild, which is not true. They even did not bother to check a copy of my licence but just took Sixt's side and said there is nothing they can do and will not refund my depost.
Would never go with this company again as they clearly take the side of rental firms and not their cusotmer should an issue arrise.
