I am unable to download the images I paid for. Two support requests have gone unanswered. When you try to download an image it takes you to a payment page despite the account page showing my credits. Very poor website also.
I used Dreamstime for images and paid as I went. Discovered later they had signed me on as a subscriber and billed me for a year of charges. My husband does the credit card charges so I didn't catch it. Went I called to cancel -they were rude from "hello". I asked them if this every happened to anyone else and they said "no". After reading these reviews I realize this is common practice with them. Stay away!
They use a credit system to pull the wool over your eyes. It get's confusing. Just read the other reviews about how sometimes you add things to cart and it auto-adds it to extra large and consumes extra credits. I now use adobe stock as everything has a clear price, what I would call honest.
I came to realized that dreamtime (all lower case) has been taking money out of my account for the last 18 months. Yes 18 months... Why I only realized it now. I buy loads and loads of online items and have never bothered to go thru my entire money bank statements. I bought images from them in August 2015 for a website that I was building. Well I have contacted dreamstime and after lot of arguing they offered me 3 months back. Telling me they are not allowed to pay back anymore than that. Also you loose your downloads after 30 days if you don't use them. TOTAL SCAM
I checked if they had about 20 images I needed for a project. I checked the sizes I needed and the price (in credits, I was going to buy a credit package) and made a list. I had all the images in the lightbox and signed up and bought a credit package. Then I had to take care of my kid so I didn't get back to it until the next morning. By that time, all the credit prices for the pictures I had selected had doubled and a few had even tripled. It went from 43 (I bought the 60 credit package) to 97 credits.
I am now in the process of canceling the order and getting my money back, but they are very difficult to contact. Stay away from this service! There are more reputable ones out there.
If you ever decide to leave the service:
1. They make it REALLY hard.
2. If you manage to do it, they won't payout anything under $100. There is no provision for ending your account. They basically steal what piddly royalties they pay you anyway.
3. I would never recommend buying from them or using them to host your images.
Absolutely terrible service.
ALERT CONCERNING FIVE CENT DEAL:
THEY WILL BILL A WHOLE MONTH'S PAYMENTS WHILE YOU THINK THE SUBSCRIPTION LASTS ONLY A WEEK!
I downloaded photo which was advertised as free. The catch was to enter your credit card info for a 30 trial for 5 cents. I thought what the heck that's worth it for 30 days. One week later my card was charged $15.00! I tried to log into the website but said my email was not in the database! What the hell! My credit card info was certainly in the database!
I finally found a contact number and called only to get a recording then it disconnects without the option of holding for customer service operator or leaving a message. So I just kept calling and calling at least 30 times. One after the other and finally I got a real person. She listened to my complaint about the charge and told me that she refunded the charge. I asked her why they charged me 15.00 only 7 days into my 30 day, 5 cent trial? She didn't respond, she just reiterated that she gave me a refund.
I signed up for the 7 days free trial (that wasn't so free because I paid. 05 cents) on September 6th. On September 11th I get a charge in my Paypal account from Dreamtime. Explain to me how am I being charged for a subscription 2 days prior to the end of a free trial? What kind of false advertisement are they going on with here? They know if they tell people free 7 day trial then they would expect to be able to cancel on the 7th day, but the gotcha is we snatch your money 2 days prior. Well, I went on over to Paypal and told them what happened. I emailed Stealtime and told them refund my money or I am writing the Better Business Bureau. I got my money back in 20 minutes. Fastest investigation ever! Then I googled to see if anyone else has this issue and here I am. Unbelievable. I got my money back but I'm still writing a review because it annoys me to no end when companies try deceptive ways to get your money. Dreamtime, Where do I cancel? Why do I have auto renewal? Why are you trying to stick me for my paper? If your selection was good and your terms were clear then I might have stayed but your stocks are limited and your business practices are shady, so no. I am sure they make their bread and butter on subscriptions
If you have any account history whatsoever the most you an do is cancel the automatic renewal and "delete" your card. They will not let you delete your account in full. This makes me highly uncomfortable and though customer service has assured me I won't be charged again, I'm wary.
For perspective I only needed this account for a short time while an issue was worked out with another stock service I use. I unfortunately forgot to cancel my subscription earlier and of course like many other sites they have automatic renewal turned as the default preset.
While the site itself may be useful to some (though I found it rather unimpressive and the selection lacking in comparison to other similar sites) I am exceedingly uncomfortable with the fact that I can't delete my account in its entirety.
Bought 11 credits to buy a photo for 6. After choosing several times the medium size which costs exactly 6 credits, I find out my radiobutton skipped to their Extralarge (again) and used up all my 11 credits. F you, dreamstime, I will shop on other websited instead.
While I can appreciate that they are a business, and that free options would be limited, their search function is either broken, or a lie. Searching with only "free images" selected leads you to a selection of images which are actually a mix of free and paid; if you attempt to download them, will bring up a prompt for your subscription information.
If you're putting together a website for commercial purposes or something, maybe they are worth it, but if you're just looking for materials for a lesson handout, etc. don't bother looking here.
They said first month is free and then they auto renewed my card and charged me 30 something and when I tried to search how to cancel the plan they didn't have any information regarding this. Please don't use dreamstime. I am trapped.
Dreamstime are advertising subscriptions for cents per month, and apparently hidden somewhere in there is a clause saying you will be billed after a week for $39 a month (but 48 hrs in advance!). I have just put my claim thru Paypal. I suggest you'd have more luck with Paypal than DT. Never using this $#*! again
Dreamstime tells you that your first subscription is free, then it lets you enter your card number or paypal credentials, after that you download "free images" and stay peaceful. After one month they peacefully cut next installation of next month saying that your option of automatic renewal was on. And most of people are told about this option after one month, like this only, because in their process of payment, at some step they show it in very small letters as if this is very useless information.
If you see a great special offer from Dreamstime, make sure you do a screen shot. Because odds are, they won't honor it without the screen shot. They will say you mis-read the offer.
I tried a few downloads which were for trial at 0,05 euro. After no notification suddenly they started deducting monthly payments from my account.
Customer service doesnt care and only say I have bad luck!
Watch out, dreamstime is a bunch of scammers!
While you as buyers pay $7-20 per download, I the photographer get paid only $0.42 and I work with dreamstime exclusively. It's been months that I get only paid 0.42 "by subscription"... I feel like they're scamming us the photographers. Dreamstime is a greedy company making millions and paying us some cents! I'm going to move my photos to another stock company.
I have paid for months on the subscription service but have not used as many images as are offered. Months later I have 77 downloads waiting to be used and they keep piling on more every month. I can't cancel because I will LOSE the credits I already PAID for so they just keep coming. I've gotten to the point that I just download random images to eat up the credits. So disappointed.
