I purchased a domain name, and later scheduled a cancellation for the end of the billing period (1 year total) through their website. The service was instead cancelled immediately. When contacting customer service, the response i got was a passive-aggressive "Did you pay for the services you cancelled?", referring to their registration discounts. And this
"you cancelled a FREE service, so there is no "billing period"
You will need to order a new package "
This is a rip off company for sure. I bought a domain name for a year at a reasonable price, not realising that when that year was up I was then going to be charged $650 for two years worth of services I don't even want nor have requested. Can't ring them directly to complain.
$#*! company do not use
The most dishonest and doggy business I have ever met. Firstly, they charged some items in my cart without my permission as they had my card details from previous transaction. No refund. The worst customer support, they don't understand IT at all. Finally, they openly refused to provide already paid services. They don't even reply to Fair Trading. Negligent business lucking integrity. Please avoid.
Domain Names is a terrible company. They are a complete money rip off. The company terms and conditions for renewals is complex, confusing and intentionally so. When trying to contact them they just fob you off, keep sending emails saying wont deal with you or any complaint- by either email, letter or phone! You have to logon to your account, and then they just keep sending you emails linking you to their terms and conditions page. And, that page is totally unhelpful. To actually get to speak to a representative took days. Then they informed me 'took too long to complain, wont refund you now'. Be warned, don't deal with this company.
Domain was inactive and clearly not in use. Got an email asking to click on a link to renew as domain was due to expire. Auto renew was never set and they can not provide evidence it was.
They charged my debit card anyway as had on their records for previous transactions.
When questioned sent a proforma response advising me to log onto my account which I had previously explained I had no access to.
Domainnames.com.au are total crooks.
This company is the absolute pits to deal with. They don't answer your questions with anything but sarcasm and arrogant rudeness. I canceled my website then they proceeded to send me 3 invoices after it was canceled and they no longer hosted our domain name, saying I needed to update and renew my hosting subscription that they no longer hosted. Beware... SCAMMERS
Bought a reasonably priced domain from them, with out any extras services. A year later, come renewal they sent an unrelated unvoice for 398 dollars,
Sent emails requesting call back to an automated system that requests you send an email to their customer support.
Let that speak for it self.
Worst customer service I have ever seen! Do not, I repeat, Do not use this company. Nothing is their problem, it's always something or someone else. Never again will I use this company, I have transferred away and what do you know, all the issues we were having are now fixed!
Had auto renewal OFF rang me after the date to talk me into renewing, i was told i had until midnight, all i said was send an invoice so i could think if i really wanted it, immediately they rushed payment through without my authorization, upon finding this out asked for it to reversed because i had not agreed to pay, then pointed out they had actually fraudulently debited my card as auto renew was off, Then the idiot made a huge mistake, he switched it back on then emailed me that auto renew was turned on, what the this lying piece of $#*! forgot was, if it was on it would have renewed automatically. This was the dumbest thing he could have emailed me so now its in the hands of banks as its fraud and the Ombudsman. These are criminals and need to be treated and highlighted in public for what they are... Mark Hills
$29 for a domain last year, this year it's $280 for web hosting which didn't ask for and $398 for an additional two years of a domain name which I didn't authorize. Credit card canceled taking legal action, professional scammers posing as a domain provider
After very carefully choosing (and securing my domain name through another group) I get an email from this company saying: You deserve a better name than www.[mydomainname]. com.au. How rude can you get? My carefully researched and selected domain name suits my actual business perfectly and also aligns with my overall market presence, trademarked logos, registered business names and social media accounts. Where does this company get off suggesting (without even know me or my business) that "I deserve a better name" just because they have a generic one to sell (www.EventPhotographer.com.au). If they knew ANYTHING, they would know I am a TRAVEL photographer, NOT and EVENT photographer!
Literally just stole my money, paid $1,300 for a domain name. Told me there were extra charges which I refused. There are no refunds, the payments are apparently "non-refundable". There is no cancellation policy. Have to go through courts because these guys wont even provide an invoice. I didnt even get an invoice for my $1,300 let alone get what I paid for. Don't pay them anything, there is no refund policy. Wouldn't touch them. Watch for * / the salesperson.

I had a domain with DomainNames for ten years. They provided no support, the were uncontactable by phone and lured you into spending extra money to retreive a password. I cant tell you how awful an experience it was. The wouldn't even release my domain name and gave it to someone else.
Here is what their last comment was.
Don't worry about it. We gave the domain name to someone else
Regards,
DomainNames.com.au
Wish I could give 0 stars. Received an email from their 'support' team advising my opinion was just an opinion and they weren't going to help me. They didn't answer my question, didn't provide support/ direction or respond to any of my concerns. They also refused to give me a refund when I hadn't used their service. Shouldn't be in business if they don't care what their customers think.
Email due for renewal, had a phone call regarding it.
I explained to him I was going to shop around as I've lost alot of business during the current Covid-19 dramas and am looking at cost cutting where I can.
Once he realized he wasn't able to resign me there and then his tone soon quickly changed.
Would of resigned for convenience but now there's no way I will be renewing, happy to pay more elsewhere and not support a company like this and after reading everyone else's reviews I see I'm not the only one.
Phone call was on the 10/06/2020@ 3.30pm aest.
Update - after posting original review had phone call from him immediately asking me to edit and remove his name which I have done.
Disabled my site because I wrote a bad review. Cancelled my emails although I have paid for the service. Sad little company to be avoided at all costs
Domainnames.com.au will rip you off. They will also show complete disregard for professionalism, insult you, your mother and sister, and take your money for services they have no intention of supplying.
Pay a competitive rate for domain and website hosting services with a website builder to assist you in creating your own site, neither of which actually happen.
The website builder (which is hosted by someone else - themselves) doesn't work (goodbye $79) and they advise, when asking for help with this, that you should "find someone that actually knows how to use a computer to do it for you".
They're also very helpful (not) when asking for assistance on a Saturday night by asking "isn't there anything else you could be doing on a Saturday night?".
The complaints department is better handled by a 2 year old as the lady that manages this is just as rude and abusive as the sales staff - obviously from the high amount of complains they receive.
All i can say in summary is STAY CLEAR!
Unbelievably rude
Product was useless
Pressured to sign up for multiple years then product was unusable as the data allowance was so low, it couldn't even handle a few emails
They then wanted to charge me heaps more for more data which still wouldn't meet my needs, so at present I have paid over $1000 for something I can't use
Their prices are significantly inflated compared to other providers
And the customer service is just so rude and in the tone of bullying and disrespect
Stay away from then
I wish I had read the reviews before signing up
They refuse to refund despite the fact that the product is unusable.
Rude, no customer service, sarcastic responses if you CAN GET ONE
I wrote a much longer review what is happening to me, but it pretty much rings true with all the other reviews I am reading, and shaking my head. I just want my money back and have checked I am within all guidlines of their T&Cs and of course instead of reimbursing i get ignored - there is literally no way I can get it back if they just dont respond, what can I do? :( :(
I got a website designer to update our website, he uses crazy domains so he transferred us to Crazy Domains, well as soon as we transfer from DOMAIN NAMES my emails stop working - effecting our business. I got in touch with Domain Names and it was like they loved it. They wanted me to pay $199 per hour for them to look into it - they told me i was no longer a client so they wouldnt do anything - EVEN THOUGH I AM A CLIENT untill october 2018, they also said i should have stayed with them and it would have been cheaper, every email i sent i got a patronising email back. They didn't care at all. ARghhhh how do i get my emails back? The worst company i have ever dealt with i am so upset and would strongly advise against DOMAIN NAMES.COM.AU
