DiscountBookSale and BestBargainBooks are one in the same. This organization automatically enrolls ou in a as a member and charges an upfront membership fee along with recurring charges. This is imbedded in the order an not part of your total. Very easy to overlook. The receipt they send is only for the order. They must send a long second email about membership. They will only credit two months worth of charges. I expect a full refund for any charges in excess of the orginal purcharse. I have also contacted my credit card company.
This is fraud and a complete scam. Stay away from this vendor. I will also contact BBB and below this is grounds for a class action lawsuit.
I bought a book there and was signed up for some $9.95/month membership with out my permission. I did not agree to this fee and the confirmation email comes from an unrelated address so you don't see it (*******@bestbrandsvalue.com). They are purposly signing customers up for this membership without permission and When I called about the 4 months of charges they would only refund 2 months.
Do not make purchases from this company.and if you already did & got charged call to get the charges removed *******858 then make a complaint:

This website is a scam! Be careful what you click, you think you're getting a good deal until you look at your credit card and see many charges, even from rebategiant.com. BEWARE!
I bought a book in Nov. 09 and have been charged $9.95 each month since. I called and demanded the charges be removed and he told me he couldn't do that and i said i was going to call the Atty. General and report them. He took off 2 months of $9.95 and cancelled my supposed membership. I told him i didn't sign up for a memmbership and he said when i clicked to buy the book, it signed me up and i had 3 days to cancel. What a scam.
Same as everyone else!. I had no idea about a $9.95 a month membership fee untill I saw the charges on my credit card! I called their number and got a girl who could barely speak English, I couldn't understand half of what she said so hung up and called my credit card company and had them change my card number. I'm out $31.00 dollars for a $10.00 book and I'm a senoir living on social security!
Same deal as everyone else that has posted. Wish I started here before I ordered. I too did not notice those "monthly membership" charges until March. I called Capital One to dispute the charges. One of the customer service reps called the company and allowed me to speak with "Hero," one of the service reps at Discount Books to dispute these charges. He kept telling me how I had agreed to join the club by clicking to check out and entering my Mastercard info. I told him absolutely not. I never agreed to those charges. He said as a "courtesy," he could credit the $9.95 charge for March and "cancel my membership." I told him that I wanted all of those monthly charges credited because I did not join this book club. He said he was unable to do that. Then my customer service rep from Capital One jumped in and asked to speak to a supervisor. He first said the supervisor was "doing his job" and tied up in a conference call. Then in the same breath said the supervisors are available Monday through Friday from
9 AM-5 PM (guess he got off his script). Long story short... my card company is crediting 2 out of the 3 monthly charges from this "business." We shall see if BBV actually refunds my March charge. Make sure all of you report this company to the Attorney General of Florida. This is fraud and we need this "business" shut down.
The $9.95 charges to my account come under the name of BBV Discount Books. Their phone number is *******858... according to my banks records.
Better read the small print if there is any. I bought a book from them which cost $7.84 plus $9.95 (what for?). Since then each month on my credit card I have been charged $9.95 a total of three times. I called them and they gave me a credit for one of the $9.95's. Supposedly have cancelled by account and should get no further charges of $9.95. Will be able to tell next month when statement comes in the mail. I don't know where this $9.95 came from. This company is a rip off!
I wish I read the reviews first, I to was played the fool. You get no help on the phone and they don't answer the tickets(which is a type of e-mail). I will never order from another company again without checking the reviews.Live, Learn and lose money.
Same thing here... I ordered a book for $7.00 back in Jan 2010 and since then 2 separate charges of $9.95 each have occurred. I will never buy from them again!
I AM SO IRRITATED! THEY NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT A MONTHLY FEE! AND NOT ONLY DID THEY CHARGE ME 9.95, BUT THEIR "SISTER SITE" CHARGED ME 12.49! WTF A 75c BOOK TURNED INTO A 22 DOLLAR BOOK. DON'T EVERRRRRRRRRRRR USE THEM!
THEY GOT ME! I CANCELLED TODAY I WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS. DIDNT MAKE CLEAR I WAS JOINING A MEMBERSHIP FOR 9.95. I JUST WANTED ONE BOOK NOW I HAVE PAID AN ARM AND LEG FOR ONE BOOK! TRYING TO CATCH A DEAL. DONT FALL FOR IT!
They were NOT clear in tellling me that when I purchased the book from them, it was signing me up for a $9.95/mo. Membership fee...
I had the same experience as everyone else. I bought a book in October and then lo and behold a $9.95 charge began to appear monthly. With all my Christmas shopping, I didn't really pick up on it til I received my February credit card bill and wondered what it was. I can't believe they can get away with this. When I called to get the to stop they said that when I made my original purchase I clicked to become some kind of member that I don't remember. Sounded like their customer service line was in India too. Avoid!
I purchased a book from them through their listing at Amazon.com. A year later, I noticed that there was an unrecognied charge of $19.95 from Discountbooksale. I called their number and they said that I agreed to become a member when I purchased the book from them which was a lie because I purchased from Amazon web site and I never dealt with them directly. They might have already charged me $19.95 last year which I did not catch them. They said that they will cancel my membership and refund $19.95 but will take one or two billing cycle. Now I have to remember to check my credit card in the next few months.
They have been sending me a credit charge of $19.95 and $12 every month since I bought 1 book from them! They are robbing the public!
I thought I was on Amazon.com when I ordered this book Life recovery Bible and then two days later I'm charged $9.95 without an email notice for a membership fee I didn't join, WHERE IS THE DISCOUNT to someone who is charged a hidden fee. Chase Bank has been alerted, so please alert your bank and post what they are doing. Its wrong... got to be stopped.
Watch out for them! I bought one book and got billed another $19,95 the next months. "Sonny", who answered my call said when I checked out, I also agreed to join their membership so I had been billed. This is a real sneaky scam. Does being online mean they get away with this? No discount store could charge you like that when you check out at the cash register. Why can an online store do this?
SCAM THEY KEEP CHARGING MY CREDIT CARD EVERY MONTH $9.95 FOR WHAT I DON'T KNOW. ORDERED A BOOK AT XMAS AND THEN THIS CHARGE STARTED SHOWING UP EVERY MONTH. BEWARE SCAMERS
Answer: I don't understand what the deal is. It states on the site about the membership, if some people would take the time to read what they are getting themselves into. Is this the only real concern or did I miss something.?
