I ordered a set off 3 mixed reblooming drawf breaded iris. What I got was not an iris. I emailed them and sent pictures of what they sent me. They replied about a week or so later. They say they was sorry for taking so long and that I was right, what they had sent me was the wrong plants. They said they where investigating it and would be contacting the grow. Still haven't heard back from them. So I called yesterday and asked what was the hold up for an answer. They told me that they couldn't do anything unless I sent them back the shipping label that was on the bag that the plants came in. I was floored. How can you say to me that you know you sent me the wrong item but will not fix it till I send you the shipping label. So I will never order anything else from them. Can't understand why you would run a company like a scam. Anyone can see from the pictures I have attached that they're not breaded iris.
My 11 year old son took his saved money and decided he wanted a few trees from this catalog at Direct Gardening. Of course they paint a beautiful picture of their trees so it didn't occur to me to check out reviews (my fault there I know). So we ordered my son the trees he picked out and waited.
After calling 2 times and waited over a month and a half, we finally received them... in a green garbage bag with zero protection. The Weeping Cherry was broken, the only leaves it had were broken in two pieces. The Scarlet Maples and Weeping Willows were brown sticks with roots, I have zero faith this will come bk but we'll see.
What irritates me the most is the way it was shipped. We paid $9.99 for shipping which was plenty enough for some bubble wrap or something! Maybe a box? Did they really think a live Weeping Cherry and a Pink Dogwood in a pot, would make the trip without getting broken? In the mail, not even UPS or FedEx like I thought it surly would have been delivered by. This place is a joke and I have learned my lesson, next time I'll go to a nursery.
So my son's first experience with buying live plants were shot and even though I know things can happen, sending them unprotected in the mail in a bag, any company should have known better than that. Do they care about return customers, obviously not. Save yourselves some money and time, this place sucks. Now we'll wait to see if the dead twigs with roots come to life because the Weeping Cherry is already dead. Shame on them!
WORST COMPANY EVER. NO STARS - SCAMMERS DON'T GET STARS.
Filing a lawsuit now. This is an TERRIBLE scam. Contact Attorney General of Illinois. This can't be allowed to happen to good honest people by scammers. Do not buy anything from these scammers. Enjoy your lawsuit Direct Gardening - would have been easier to give me my money back - but now I want you to spend thousands to represent yourselves in court.
We not get Half of our order customer service was terrible could not reach a real person out of the items that did arrive most were dead
Beware shop somewhere else
I ordered plants three months ago and all I've gotten is auto-generated responses and no plants. Spring planting time has passed. Save your money. Do not but from Direct Gardening.
After waiting nearly 2 months for delivery all plants ordered arrived dried out and dead. Impossible to get in contact with them, no answers or returned calls EVER. Only contact they made was with my credit card company when I disputed charges. Credit card opted to pay them so they came out way ahead I guess. DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS SCAM OPERATION!
I ordered from them and I am STILL waiting to receive anything. Stupid stupid stupid me-I should have checked into them first. NEVER order from these idiots. Huge rip off. I am going to see if I can file a BBB complaint against them.
I ordered flowers and they arrived quite quickly and they were still smelling fresh 3 days later. Only blot on the copy book was a lack of plant food.
Placed an order over 4 weeks ago and absolutely no information.
Only got busy signal when tried calling. Never got an answer.
Tired of waiting. Want to plant my order not wait all summer.
Dealing with Direct Gardening has been a horrible experience. On April 21st 2020 I placed an order for 5 different items. After 2 1/2 months of back and forth emails, wondering if I've been scammed and filing disputes with my bank for the charges, I finally received 3 out of 5 items I had ordered. To make things even worse when I opened the package there were flies and worms in the onion sets and I had to thro them away. After the terrible experience of trying to get my ordered delivered I figured it was not worth even bothering to return them. I continued to wait for the other two items which are seed potatoes and was told by customer service that they were shipped with the package I already received. After some more back and forth emails and wasting my time I am chalking it up as a $44 loss Save yourself the time, money and aggravation of doing business with Direct gardening. There is some other information circulating the web that they do business under other names so be careful and do your research of you you're doing business with.
Like many before me I ordered from Direct Gardening before reading all the negative reviews. Processing and shipping is SUPER slow and it took about 6 weeks from the date of the order to receive my sticks. I sent a couple of emails during this time and to my surprise they actually did respond within a day or two. You have to be real careful managing your own expectations, if they advertise a 3' plant, don't think of it as a 3' plant you would get at a nursery or any big box store. My items arrived in a bag with no dirt and just some sort of moistening material around the roots. I received 3' sticks about 1/4 inch round and they seemed to be alive. After getting past the laughter of the rest of my family and posing for some pictures with my prized sticks I promptly put them in the ground. It's been about 4 weeks since planting and they are doing well. The free flowers are also doing well. All in all did they send me what they said they would? Technically the answer is yes, but had I seen a picture of the sticks ahead of time I would not have purchased them.
Great for buying dead plants That can't be replaced or refunded. After buying hundreds of dollars in just dry twigs over a year later still unable to get a replacement or will refund.
Stay away from this company, they are sham company, they send dry wood as plant and charge me! I always assume that gardners are descent people but direct gardening. It is a shame!
Beware DIRECT GARDENING mail order! Lousy turn around, NO customer service that can DO anything! Took my money last month and I still haven't received my order. Sent several emails to cancel order and get my money back. NOTHING. LOUSY COMPANY! My new hobby is telling everyone about the very frustrating experience I've had with
DIRECT GARDENING! THEY SUCK!
They are all the same company ripping people off under these three names. After receiving dead twigs, rotted mushy bulbs, and other worthless crap from Burgess Plant and Seeds, I discovered that I had an order with a company that had the same address as Burgess. I have called and sent several e-mails to have my ordered cancelled. The customer service is horrible.

We placed an order on May 3 for $71.00 worth of flowers. Being high-risk during this pandemic, we thought it was wise to do this way. HA! Today is June 27 and we STILL do not have our flowers. Of course, they charged our credit card on June 7! I have emailed them for a refund TWICE and they refuse, telling me the order is in shipping and they can't refund now. Well, that last email was June 10 and STILL NO FLOWERS. Of course, their customer service number is out of order. On 6/26 we received a FedEx tracking number-delivery on 6/30. OF COURSE, DEAD FLOWER RETURNS WILL COST US SHIPPING TO GET A REFUND. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM! EVER! THIS "BUSINESS" NEEDS TO SHUT DOWN.
I buy a lot of plants online and saw this company an ordered few plants. Never have I dealt with a worse company. I placed an order on April 10th and the company immediately charged my credit card (that is actually illegal, since they should not charge the credit card until the order is actually shipped. It is now May 24th and I am still waiting for my order. I emailed for the status of my order on May 14th and they said the order was in shipping. I'm still waiting for my order. Never worked with a worse company.
DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE CRIMINALS... Over one month and only 2 small plants arrived 1/2 dead. Called to cancel and got no answer... emailed to cancel and got a lame response that they are checking shipping. Do Not waste your money.
Never received my Blue Moon rose Bush cannot reach anyone be the phone thank God I only spent $25 not the 150 I wanted to spend this rose was for memorial garden for my mother who passed away last September
Placed an order for a few grape plants, rhubarb, pineberries and it took nearly six weeks to arrive. I found a PLASTIC bag stuffed in my mailbox. No stickers saying "fragile" or "do not bend" all the grapes and several of the rhubarb were broken. The pineberries looked and smelled moldy. Wrote them an email telling them what happened and a week later they have yet to respond. KEEP LOOKING! YOU WERE WARNED!
Answer: Yes it Is absolutely real. They are thieves. I just called my credit card company to do the dispute becoz they are not responsible for the dead plants they sent to me with all the charges including the shipping fee. This company has to be shut down for their dishonest business. I will fight for it and no more people will be mistreated and cheated.
