First off, CrunchyRoll has SO MANY anime options, ranging from super popular to hardly known. With the hundreds maybe even thousands of anime options, you will never get bored of it. Secondly, people always complain about the plethora of Ads, but that is only in the free version. CrunchyRoll has lots of good premium options with the lowest, and still best being only $7.99 a month! Plus every option has a free 2 week trial to see if you will like it. Additionaly, the quality is quite amazing, and is prioritized. But most of all, the site has over 12 different dubbed languages for some shows, and also hidden, new episodes or season that you wouldn't find on other streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, ect. To top it all off, new episodes on shows are uploaded only 1 hour from the release date in Japan. In conclusion if you are looking for a cheap, fun way to watch all your favorite anime's, CruchyRoll is a great option.
I have been trying to return two products I purchased from them for almost 2 months now, I ordered them as a gift, and they were late, but more importantly the recipient wanted something else so I initiated a return in December. I have tried contacting support multiple times by email and have received no response. I reached out via chat and was told it must be escalated and can only be done through email.

I love the range crunchy roll has, however I've never had a harder time using an application in my entire life. I have to try and play a video, go back and play it a minimum of 3 times to play ANYTHING. Not to mention sometimes it thinks I'm watching things on more than one device… when I try and play something on the SAME DEVICE. Again I love the variety and dubbed content on Crunchyroll, but the struggle just to watch anything on the platform is a constant frustration of mine. How can you charge so much for a membership I struggle to use?
DO NOT ALLOW YOUR CHILD/TEEN TO SUBSCRIBE! Son (15 at time) got a year subscription, it was supposed to finish beginning 2023. Just found out they have been taking out $139.99 (MORE THAN HIS INITIAL PAYMENT) for the last 2 years from my son's bank account. When I saw the latest withdrawal I tried to get a refund and cancel it... NO ONE GETS BACK TO YOU BECAUSE OF COURSE IT ALL ONLINE THEY JUST IGNORE! THEY SEND ALL THIS JUNK MAIL TO MY SON BUT OF COURSE THEY AREN'T GOING TO LET HIM KNOW THEY ARE STILL TAKING MONEY OUT OF HIS ACCOUNT! If I could I wouldn't give ANY stars!
- No profiles
- No subtitles for dubbed version (rarely even CC subtitles)
- Videos will not even play first try. You need to go back and try to play it again
- Technical issues with at least Android TV app
I pre-ordered two figures in 2022. One was shipped but for the second, they claimed COVID and a lack of staff delayed the shipment 4-5 times. When I finally asked for a reimbursement, at first someone responded, but then they started ignoring me. I never received a refund. Due to their numerous postponements, they forced me out of the Paypal protection period and my credit card had even less coverage.

No matter the issue you might have with the service, their technical support automatically assume the consumer is at fault somehow.
Getting them to understand your situation is a lot harder than it should be.
I had to make a new account, and when I was filling the address information, my country is now FULLY UNAVAILABLE. I can't purchase anymore. RightStuf sent to my country without any problem.
You can't even cancel a subscription and get the month for you pay left. Basically when you cancel you lose your premium as soon as you cancel and it doesn't wait until your month is done
I moved in January of 2022 and requested an address change at that time. I got confirmation from Crunchyroll's customer service team that the address had been updated and I left it that.
On October 25th, 2023 (AGES later btw), I finally got shipping confirmation for my item. Except they were sending to my old address, where I haven't lived in so long that my mail forwarding is expired.
So I message the support chat, asking if they can redirect, and they say they'll escalate it and to keep an eye out for communication from their store team. I never received it. I reached out again a few days later, then again a few days later. And all I got was "we'll escalate it".
I checked tracking today, and the package is out for delivery to my old address. No help or support or contact in 9 days trying to get this corrected (after I ALREADY had it corrected almost 2 years ago!)
Their support team is so handicapped they can't do anything but pass the buck. It's inefficient, stressful, and absolutely not worth it.
I would not recommend this company to anyone the app and the website in my opinion is garbage. The things you have to go through just to watch one show is ridiculous autoplay is a joke. There's no easy way to shut it off. My roku's absolutely hate Crunchyroll. It's the only app of having problems with. I don't recommend paying for this abuse. This is my opinion and only my opinion
This is a overall good site it has some good animes for free it also gets animes earlier than most anime streaming website. But the downside is that Alot of the good animes and dubs (Chainsaw Man) are premiumed. But other than that its pretty good.
Tip for consumers:
save up for premium

It appears the whole thing is run by a person named cristian that still lives in mothers basement. I do not recommend handing over your credit card details and paying for a premium subscription.
While I see a lot of bad reviews just straight-up blasting Crunchyroll, I want to shed a little light on the positives first. It's free to start, but premium is even better, relatively cheap and the wealth of shows is definitely a bright light in the dark when it comes to anime streaming. That said, let's get into the cons. The app on any console is trash. It's rarely updated, crashes constantly and when new episodes release on sundays it's typically down or buffers to infinity. I dig the platform, but if you really want to make your meal ticket(s) happy, fix the $#*!ing app. It's not much to ask.
Terrible catalog management. Good luck navigating any show that has both multiple seasons and multiple languages. Absolutely nightmare of a user interface. Also, unlike Funimation, has no "simuldub" filter to see updates to dubs only. Best bet is to use "Newly Added" and hope that top of the list isn't littered with catalog backlog additions or new episodes for a language you don't want.

Any of the apps outside the web version crash constantly and can barely load. The site doesn't have a working release calendar or release times which is insane because the free pirated sites all have that feature. You cannot select quality on phones or ps5 or xbox so if the app for some reason decides ur internet is slow (when it isnt) it will only play at 240p. Overall it doesn't even beat out the free pirated sites and I am paying for it so.
Company takes your order and gets their money, then they forget about you. Multiple attempts to make contact with no avail. Do not order merchandise from this website.
Tip for consumers:
Don't buy merchandise from Crunchyroll. It will never get delivered.

I purchased from a different website.
I'm not going to repeat what everyone else is saying, but all the complaints are accurate! The worst streaming app ever! Not worth the $7.99/mo
The app never works properly and you can tell it's cheaply maintained and never updated! These people have no idea how to develop a streaming app!
Tip for consumers:
Don’t use it unless it’s free, you can find most of the good animes on Hulu or other places

Someone hacked into my profile despite my complex pw. Thankfully, they were just a nerd wanting free anime as my card and other logins were unaffected. I was with Crunchyroll for only 1 month and have NEVER had this happen with any of my other streaming accounts or other online logins. Terrible security and an even worse anime line-up. I only subscribed for Overlord S4. Anything else can easily be streamed with Funimation, Hulu, and Netflix. Going elsewhere now and forever! Screenshots included for prrof, including the nerd's online handle. (See you soon, comrade: P)
I use Crunchyroll mainly on my macbook Pro, Safari, but sometimes also on Nintendo Switch. Both suck but for different reasons.
Switch has more basic problems like ignoring my language and subtitle settings, and randomly skipping episodes. Like the website, it's not very intuitive.
On Safari, the problems are many. Most of them are little inconvenient stuff but when they add up every little problem becomes more annoying.
If I want to see which shows I have on hold, I have no way of checking it unless I've realized to manually add the show to my watchlist. Why isn't this automated? The 'Continue Watching' list is useless, since it shows EVERY show I've ever watched and I can't erase shows from it?!
If I leave for a moment from my computer and leave the player on pause, and after a moment try to resume watching, it crashes.
It keeps logging me out.
I can't search shows by their japanese names?! The search engine doesn't recognize japanese names of the shows.
Some of the shows it tries to push are way off. If you look e.g. MyAnimeList, a lot of the popular shows seem to stay more hidden unless they're simulcasting or something.
It. Does. Not. Know. What. Shows. To recommend. 'Top Picks for you' is not working at all. And it never changes no matter what I watch and how long I've been watching certain types of shows. There's no option to delete shows from the 'top picks' section. There are always the same shows, nothing new.
It is not intuitive. Even when I manage to find different features and functions, it's after a long search. And it is not customizable like most streaming services are. The front page is full of useless information I don't need. Why do I need to know when the latest Hindi Dub has dropped?
How is it possible illegal sites are better than Crunchyroll? Too bad I want support the industry but I'm not too sure is the money even going their way. I'm already paying and the quality I get is this low, why would anyone upgrade their subscription? The whole deal seems 'easy money, low effort' on their part. Like every american business.
The customer service is of no help.
I dont use their site to watch anime due to how much they change and censor it but buying figures and other merchandise has been pretty nice. They have the best prices out of any of the other American stores and their customers service is quick to help with any issues. They are also really friendly and professional.
This store is a useless piece of garbage! You can't log in, you can't create an account, because if you create an account it doesnt exist. Processing takes "3 to 5 days". I have been waiting 16 days for something that was in stock! All they could say is black friday, black friday excuse after excuse. I would not, and never will order anything from this scam of a site. If it was a possibility i would have given a 1/16 of a star!
Tip for consumers:
Don't buy from this store!

I had bought multiple figures from this site, and it worked out alright, though there was a small break with one that had a small, flimsy piece. It glued back just fine. Imagine, then, when I get a figure where nothing fits in its correct slot for assembly, my surprise as the head breaks immediately, right with the peg stuck inside so the break was uneven. The hair also broke as I tried to repair the head and put it back on. It's current a mess of pieces. Customer service did nothing but tell me to use glue and waste my time.
So I had some vintage Anime goods I got from Japan in the late 90s and early 2000s and decided to sell online and on Etsy. This company is going around reporting my listings for copyright infringement. Yeah, I know they license to stream certain Anime online and sell some goods but what gives them the right to banned others from reselling some things they own? They do not make the Anime, create them, made the merchandises or even close to that but they are going around doing this. Really? What a horrible company!
So get this. They have a massive catalogue of shows right. Cool... yet almost none of them are dubbed... even the ones you would expect (my hero academia, Boston, even god damn one piece.) Got this so me and my partner could binge watch a few shows but this site is garbage. Don't waste your money here. Like seriously it really is disappointing.
Tip for consumers:
That there catalogue of dubbed animes is literally bloody trash.
