I called them for an animal in my raftors in a 6- story building that I manage. They immediately sent me a docu-sign for $999 to set up traps. I signed it thinking they would trap the animal and remove it. They set up traps days later for a couple of days- never checked them by the way until I called them back out. They took the traps and said the Racoon must have gotten out. The resident called us screaming and demanding a concession, called the city and caused a big stink. We called them back out and insisted that they open the ceiling to see what was there. It was a Racoon and 2 babies. They then said they wanted $1295 more. They never did anything for the original $995. I can't believe this terrible customer service. We asked them to leave and we called a different company that charged us less than half of that cost and removed 3 racoons in 1 day. We dealt with Critter Control back and forth for a month. Stay clear they are all in it for the money and nothing else.

Sad
December 2, 2022

Please do yourself a huge favor and never contact this company Critter Control Justin Holden The District Manager is worthless. I found out they have been operating without the proper licenses. Their Techs had no licenses to apply chemicals but they still did. Can not understand why the Pest Board still allows this company to still operate aside from that they trap raccoons and let them go away after they capture them again can't understand why Fish and Game does not step in. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY ANYWHERE IN THE STATE CALIFORNIA

Former Manager
May 30, 2022

Do not use this company. As you can already see by the complaints there is a pattern with price gauging and lack of service. I worked for this company and they Train the reps to charge ridiculous prices and provide little service. The Techs that come out to perform the work are poorly trained and not even close to being qualified to do any kind of Carpentry work. They will get on your roof to check plumbing stacks and T-Vents and break tiles, but will not fix or replace them. Also the continuously violate OSHA safety by having people performing work on your roof without being tied off with a harness. If they fall off your roof you can be held liable. They train their reps to sell by fear to get you to sign the contract, but wont guarantee their work unless you sign up on their recurring monthly program which can be from 89.00 - 129.00. Signing up for a recurring program allows them to set up bait stations on your property and come back monthly to check them and treat your property for rodents or pests they continuously lure to your property by setting up their bait stations. They are not controlling the pests. The are bringing them to your property... Hello. As a former manager there i can tell your they are scumbags looking to rape you.

DON'T DO IT!
April 9, 2022

Initially, Critter Control (aka TruTech) had come out to my house after I called them with a desperate plea to remove a skunk from under my house. They inspected, took pictures, went over all that they're removal service covers, and then dropped the outrageous price of $3000. Well standing in my house wreaking of skunk spray, I took their bait! Service was done promptly. However their technician Erik set up one trap on the opposite side of the house from where I was hearing and smelling the skunk! Oddly tho I saw Erik holding 2 traps AND the contract says TWO traps will be used. A week later, I'm still smelling a skunk! So I spoke to the first guy (Niko) who came to my house and took my money and he said that he will talk to his manager. The next day, worker Frank came out and removed the trap. I mentioned the skunk smell to Frank so he sprayed more deodorizer, but there was no skunk removed which is why I hired them in the first place! Now I'm hearing AND smelling that same skunk and all of my calls, emails and text messages to Critter Control/TruTech are being ignored! Just wish I would've read ALL the bad reviews before hiring these people!

Rip off
January 7, 2022

My mother called Critter Control (Boulder) for service. She is 86 years old and confined to a walker. She has been hallucinating and sees "critters" in her bedroom. It is obvious to anyone with half a brain that there is nothing there. The critter she described to Critter Control was a rodent with blue eyes... (based on a google search, NO rodents have blue eyes). There are no droppings and no evidence of any rodents in the house, specifically in the bedroom where my mother "sees" them. I put sticky traps out myself and even left a slice of bread under her dresser for weeks without it being touched. Critter control (Spencer Gildersleeve and Dana Carwin) still found it acceptable to do an initial service for $329 and two follow up visits for $95 each ($519 total). I am appalled that Critter Control would take advantage of an old woman by taking her hard-earned money. None of their indoor traps have caught a single thing and no evidence of any "critter" has been found. I've spoken with 3 people at Critter control including Dana Carwin who arranged the contract with my mother. Dana said a manager would call with possible restitution, but I have not received any further communication. Critter Control did respond to my review on Yelp with "Will look into it" (9 months ago)... So either Critter Control technicians are clueless or they are willing to rip people off, either way I would never use their service...

I signed a contract with Critter Control to address a skunk problem under my house. They definitely took advantage of my urgent need, quoting exorbitant pricing for poorly put up fencing which when installed cracked the siding of my house, and said that some of the access points I showed them weren't when later found out that they were and skunks continued to get under my house. They also charged huge fees for "deoderizing" under house, which they did not do, or inspect the crawlspace as listed as part of the service but instead closed the account. I emailed them repeatedly and they would not respond to each issue, only selectively responding and instead said my service was complete. Finally, I demanded a refund and they then came out to perform final services that were paid for. This is a company that takes advantage of people, charges ridiculous prices, and does not fulfill their commitment. They put the bills in small print on IPADs and ask you to sign. Despite declining numerous services they pushed on me the bill was ridiculous and clearly they took advantage. Strongly recommend you look elsewhere for service.

Critter Control review
I have used them for years to keep mammals out of the attic. They come by for 7 minutes and bill hundreds. Maybe a brain surgeon or engineer? 2658/HOUR. I noticed some adult roaches --three--over three weeks. And after cleaning the pantry floor saw markings of roaches a week later. So since I am among the most prolific physicians in the state with international practice, I thought I had all the top organic options, but how often do I study this? So I had their nagging bill, which was ALREADY FULLY paid, and thought, the devil you know... I left a detailed message with the answering service that assured me the message would be shared. I called in the morning before lunch. Maybe they did not get it. Oh no. THEY GOT IT. They were both critter control and trutech. So the lady sent a proposal to the manager at about noon. As I waited for the call, I handled emergencies in the Carolinas. Wrote the beginning of two severe medical papers. And helped a patient in California with a highly stressful legal presentation while having infections near her nerves. SO GET TO THE POINT! THE NAPLES CRITTER CONTROL IN FLORIDA TOTALLY BLEW ME OFF. DEATH IN THE FAMILY? NOPE. SEVERELY ILL CHILD? NOT THAT. I ASKED WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE STAFF. LONG, LONG SILENCE. I SAID THE MANAGER IS NOT HUNGRY. THEY THINK THEY HAVE TOO MANY CUSTOMERS, IT SEEMS. WOW! NO CORRECTION WAS OFFERED. Some companies want your business. These people? RUN AS IF YOUR LIFE WAS IN THE BALANCE!

Scam company
September 6, 2022

After being charged 750. Plus dollars for the initial consultation and visit I was to be charged $80 per month for each visit afterwards however I never saw anyone after that I begin getting billed the $80 per month with a service date of work performed I work from home and no one had ever been to my home to service the second visit that I was being charged for people in my neighborhood have door cams that show anyone who approaches my home on video as I work from home where my desk sits I can see anyone that pulls up my driveway in the door you enter to my home is right next to my desk no the tech never came to my door nor up my driveway I spoke with manager Scott on two different occasions both times he assured me he would get back with me the next day never did when I got the reminder of the bill I had not paid I called and spoke with the sales rep who had come to my home his name is Michael he assured me he would have Scott call me back at that point after being told two times but someone who is a manager and should be responsible but having not ever heard back from him I told Michael that was okay I wanted the contract canceled. It's one thing when an employee lies to you and tells you that he went to someone's home and he didn't but it's another thing for his manager to lie to me twice by telling me he's going to get back with me and never does what's the old saying the Apple doesn't fall far from the tree very true in this case stay away from this company.

Saw a rat in my yard. A week later, heard noises in the walls. Called my normal pest control company. Said it was a squirrel, recommended Critter Control. I called, they came out and gave me a ridiculously confusing proposal that was around $3K for inspecting my single-story house, doing repairs to seal where the rat(s) may have entered, setting traps, and fumigating the attic. Stupid me, I signed up thinking they would be doing the right thing. They came out and did absolutely minor repairs that I thought looked horrible. They added a screen to one side of an attic vent and used silicone to close up a couple gaps around the eaves. Then they said they were done. OK, but now the house looks like $#*!. I made them put up screens around the other half of the attic vent and then on the two attic vents on the opposite end of the house. That visit cost me $1689. They never looked for the rat in the yard but I discovered where it had been staying and called for them to come out and deal with it. They did not show up for 3 days. I showed them the location and they put up a trap. Nothing else. I have to clean up the mess, no fumigation, nothing. They put 3 other plastic traps in the yard, fumigated the attic and then charged me $1277 for that visit which lasted less than 20 minutes. They still haven't found the rat. I asked about the one we heard in the wall, what if it dies there? They said I probably wouldn't notice it. Wow, thanks. I'll be careful not to punch any holes, I might come across a mummified rat. I feel 100% raped by this company. What the hell did I get for $3K other than some silicone sealant, a few metal screens unceremoniously screwed into the outside of my house for everyone to see, and 3 plastic rat traps? They removed the two wooden rat traps from the garage and told me to buy something from Home Depot to seal up the garage door myself. Again, what did I get for $3K? Please kill me now. I live in Phoenix Arizona and their last visit was today 03/03/21.

I hired Critter Control in July 2019 to trap squirrels in my attic, spray a disinfectant on their droppings, trap skunks in the crawlspace and install new vapor barrier to replace the old one which had animal droppings on it. They gladly took my $500,1/3 down payment, and didn't show up. I called several times to be told they would come 'in a few days'. After one month a guy came and put one trap on my roof. They came once a week to check the trap but after 2 months no squirrels, or any other animal, was trapped. Critter Control never attempted any of the other work I contracted them to do. I called the office several times to try to discover their plan to complete the work and got no answer.

BTW, if you read the fine print in their contract, which is never discussed or even mentioned, you will discover that they charge you $89/month, in perpetuity, to place rodent traps around your house. I don't have rodents and when I discovered this part of the contract I called the office to have these traps removed. The woman I spoke to on the phone talked in circles for 10 minutes trying to dissuade me from canceling the rodent trapping. I won this round but what a hassle!

6 months after I signed the contract with Critter Control I received a letter apologizing to all their customers for their failure to provide the services they contracted for. The letter offered that they would either complete the work or a refund would be given. I chose the refund. Today I received a check from the company for $1. Yes, one dollar. No explanation given.

I would not recommend this company to anyone. They are rude, disorganized and they will take your money without providing service.

I've caught FIVE squirrels now as opposed to Critter Control's NONE.
You're not catching mice neither, yet they're getting out of the basement now and into the 1st floor.

My neighbor disputed her credit card with you because she's going through the same BS. Was contacted by Mark who was going to "make it right", after I was called and verbally abused by James, a self-proclaimed "professional expert in the field", as he repeatedly lashed out at me and children yelling in the background. (keep in mind, he called me with this attitude).

He canceled our scheduled appointment numerous times and said he refused all service without police presence. I agreed and said I would contact the police dept in town and have them here as requested, since I now felt unsafe and threatened by his aggressive demeanor.

Since then he has been to my neighbor's house as mentioned. He could be overheard cursing and complaining while up on the ladder while I was out front on work calls doing IT Support for hospitals & nursing homes. So to answer his repeated question, yes, I am a professional, and if any of the many people that report to me even were a slight bit similar to his "professional" attitude towards customers, they were let go, sometimes skipping a write up.

I would never hire James or anyone like him. You can't make this up. Just found the number the threatening call came from.

*******485

Please give it a call.

We have told everyone we know that it's not "get them out and keep them out", more like "empty promises, take your money, hide". While taking in as many customers as Nate and management can swindle, leaving some of the on site people to keep the insane promises made by their money hungry overlords.

I was shocked you sent me a survey after all this nonsense. It would be smarter for Marketing to reach out to happy customers, but as I type this it dawned on me that you don't have many, if any.

Good Day,
Brian S. Helt
