I've been using CL for what, 10 years now? I've tried online sites like Ebay and Amazon and yeah, while sometime it's just faster being able to sell something (especially something niche) to a country-wide pool of potential customers rather than just who happens to be on CL, in your local area, and actually want what you're selling, it's still much better to sell on CL and not have to deal with the shipping side (and forget anything too big).

Once you get a customer interested it's usually a fast process from there. They come over (or you deliver it if you offer that), they check it out for a few minutes, then hand you your cash. (Same if you're buying something except reversed.) Of course I've gotten plenty of bad and just plain inconsiderate people on CL but overall it's very worth it.

Not to mention all of the other services you can get on CL and live animal adoptions (I've adopted a dog, a snake, fish, and a couple rats off CL) that you just can't get on places like Ebay.

About the site itself... they've made a lot of changes to the site (not so much the look but the function) and they keep making them. I like some of the changes but to be honest most of the changes just plain suck and have me yearning for the "good old CL".

Oh, but if you live in the middle of nowhere... you're screwed. Go to Amazon.

I have written to JIM, CRAIG, CLIFF and the LEGAL team asking for explanation of why my ads are being deleted but they never respond to my inquiries.

In a sense i am glad to see that their days are truly numbered because you just can't a business in a free society as such.

I don't know why there are so many bad reviews for Craigslist. I've used it for years and years, and I made a bunch of money and bought a bunch of really cool stuff for low dollar.
I haven't read all the reviews, but if you're getting ripped off for sending money, or accepting cashier's checks or any other type of payment other than currency you're a freaking moron. Most of the bad comments I read we're bad due to the ineptitude of the customer. If you think I'm full of crap, try using OfferUp or let-go. Unbelievably bad everything. Sure Craigslist has issues, but like I said, I've been doing this for years, and I have never had a serious problem. Stay away from letgo and especially, especially offerup.
The only reason I gave this review a four-star and not five, is because they're charging $5 to advertise a vehicle. I have sold, and purchased at least a dozen vehicles in the last six or seven years. Due to all the scams and rip-offs out there, you must watch your azz. You can't expect a company that does this volume of business to make sure YOU don't do something stupid.

Automotive Repair
August 22, 2017

Saw the add, my car was hit by someone who had no insurance about 1 year ago, so I call the guy twice, can not leave him a VM cause his VM is full, so he calls me back, tell him what the issue was and he tells me to send him a picture, he calls me back and tells me the job will cost $250 asked him if he guarantees the work he said, if you are not happy with it you don't have to pay me, ok. He fixes the car like dodo... leaves all the was on the car, I'm thinking he is hiding something, I finally got him to remove the wax and the car looks like dodo. He posted the add 12 days ago DO NOT USE THIS GUY he does not know what he is doing. He came with his "mother", which look like his girlfriend with this wig on that was not very becoming, also looks like she was hiding something?

Here's the bottom line: Craigslist is free and the creator and the people who supposedly work there do NOT care about anything that goes on with the site. That is why they rely 100% on users to flag the ads. The individuals that flag the ads are mainly bitter and spiteful people. They do it because in their opinion they don't like it or you. I posted in the Flag Help Forum and every reason I received as to why my ad was flagged was nothing but a person's opinion. Not one person could tell me why according to the precious CL rules my ad was flagged and removed.
CL is a joke, but you get what you pay for.
It's obvious they don't care about the murders and rapes that have occurred as a result of their site, so why would they care if legitimate ads were deleted by users?
You can't reach them by any method invented. Don't expect anyone to call you back or to receive any other reply from an email except one that is canned and automatic.
Take your business elsewhere, is the best advice I can give you.

I'd give this 5 stars but there is alot of spam and fraud related posts/activities on here. Besides that, it's great, I've never had decent luck on the job portions though (they aren't exactly straight foward with you when they post their stuff) but the personals are hilarous and some of the items (that arent spam) are pretty decent as well.

Avoid Simon Rincon
March 21, 2016

I was scammed by a guy named Simon Rincon. He posts work on Craigslist about insulation, duct cleaning, finish carpentry, painting, and general labor. I paid him $1100 up front in cash to do some drywall, painting and carpentry. He did about 25% of the work, terribly I might add. He caused more damage with his shotty work which costs me more money. He ended up taking off with my $1100 in cash and the key to my home. He will not return my calls, money or house key. Needless to say, I paid to have my locks changed. By spreading the word about Simon, I have been contacted by others who fell victim to this same man. The phone number that Simon uses is *******120. I hope that nobody else falls victim to this man.

The best classified ads site in the world, hands down. Increasing numbers of scams, but very easy to see through the scams if you have half a brain at all.

They take down postings if you don't pay for it, limiting what people can see in the website. I don't recommend this website.

No accountability and Craigslist will go to utmost extremes to conceal their identity after they commit felonies and forge legal documents. Then dissapear into the night but not first before they delete the ad lol. Now you need a lawyer and legal enforement to give a flying about you being scammed. Little hint a lawyer will for 250 an hour, the police will straight up tell you they will not be investigating this as its low priority. Stick to Facebook market as people that reach out have profiles which adds a layer of protection on both sides. No ninja sellers forging names on pink slips rolling back odometers and poof. My. 2

Car below listed in excellent condition with 80k - really has 180k odometer was rolled back and title jumped. Be safe out there people run that vin hindsight for me but craigslist did nothing to help find the original poster without a warrant fyi

THE PROBLEM IS 'autoblock" AS SOON WE COPY PASTE OUR OWN AD TO LOOK LIKE - A NEW POSTING-, RATHER THAN REFRESH -IT IS BLOCKED
THE "autoblock" THEN STAYS IN PLACE MORE THAN 12 HOURS - ITS VERY FRUSTRATING AND ANNOYING. MORNING TO EVENING - OR EVENING TILL THE NEXT DAY -
IVE TRIED TO UPGRADE TO PAID LISTING - THERE IS NO WAY TO CONTACT CL.
I WONDER IF THEY HAVE ANY SERVICE PERSONNEL..

If I could, I would put 0 or a negative number. This service is horrible and algorithms are meant to infringe on rights of adequate people and discriminate them. Craigslist enforces some $#*!ed rules regarding posting a room, that go waaay too far in so called "tolerance". I cannot say that I am looking for a person who does't smoke and doesn't do weed, because I "discriminate them". So, it doesn't matter that those smells and drugs give me headaches and make me feel bad. My health, well being and desire to live clean without additions is not as important as making a space for people who want to live lower life quality and also affect mine. I already have 3 dogs, and the place is small, so for shared living I am looking for someone who doesn't have pets. It's just common sense. But I cannot say that, because I will violate someone's right to live with a pet. Ughm, hello! 4+ pets and 2-3 people is too much in one tiny space. I hope this f. Jim Buckmaster (the CEO of Craigslist) will accommodate all druggies, smokers, drinkers, poor pets, and others at his own house to feel how algorithms he is enforcing work in practice. Go show your tolerance at your own house, Jim! And not at the expense of other people.
