I like the simplicity of craigslist and the fact that it does not charge users. But, the interface is poorly designed and you cannot effectively search for anything specific.

Site change
August 17, 2022

You changed the profile of the sites as of yesterday on your page and now it's slower and more difficult to deal with. I would check it out 4 to 5 time's a day now it's not worth my time.

Good site, helps find cheap stuff and I did found apartments there twice. I would like it if it looked a bit "newer", but oh well I prefer usable and useful over looks.

Once upon a time, I could use CL as a legitimate source to sell homemade, used or any product or service and make money without problems. Not any more. I'm not sure when it all changed, perhaps when backpage was shut down, but a person (particularly female) can do hardly anything any longer. I bought a business services ad for residential and commercial cleaning. What did I get? 3 legitimate responses. The rest were for things such as: "can you do nude? In lingerie? Topless? Etc. I placed an ad for a room/house share and what did I get? 100% were "sure if you will do xyz.:" all sexually explicit. When I needed a place to stay when I was homeless just temporarily until I could get a job and get on my feet, I'm exchange I offered for, cooking and cleaning, until I could start paying rent? 98% responses were of a sexually explicit nature. I also put this ad in the community section. Same thing. I needed a rideshare and got the same results. I don't believe other than selling a car, trailer, or any inanimate object that there is any other type of person responding. ON TOP OF WHICH, the moment they are rejected, is the moment THEY delete your ad. The stupidest practice any online publication can possibly institute and that is to allow clearly deviant, sociopathic readers to censor their publication. Then when they get accustomed to your vernacular? They don't even respond. They just delete. It is like the patients running the asylum or the toddlers watching over the day care center or more appropriately the criminals overseeing the prison. CL remains at the top of their genre, but I can only surmise the bull of their readers are the leftovers from backpage. It is only good for selling objects. It isn't even good for getting a job. The good number of those ads are scams—of a sexual nature usually.

I got jobs because of Craiglist, but there are scam-ish jobs literally mix up with the legitimate ones. Now I understand Craiglist cannot filter it all. Us customers must be the one who is vigilant.

I give up on Craigslist, use to be a good site but now they keep removing my listings for no reason. So then I have to keep reposting. Not worth it. Go to marketplace or offer up.

If Craigslist can "ghost" a local ad for a Schwinn 8 ways from Sunday whenever they feel like it, then they can certainly stop giving (seriously like super-lazy-dont-even-gotta-try) hackers & cyber criminals access to millions of kids phones worldwide, who are selling their skateboards & Pokemon cards & gotta deal with this garbage: (please see pic)

Plus the usual 5 or so virusy emails in my inbox. They (CL) make billions on paid ads now, so they can fix/filter this tired scam thing easily, but seem to choose to ignore anything that involves any effort whatsoever, leaning instead on a few tired warnings nobody sees or reads, especially kids.

I dont think I've ever had this particular problem with LetGo, 5 mile or any other free site I can think of thats still around. Not since like 2000? Not even Offer up (pretty bad one btw) was all virusy & full of scam emails like CL still is. Usually only seeing this nowadays on completely unmanned or abandoned "zombie" sites -not ones that are actuallly "legit" businesses with over a billion in ad revenue. Truly disgraceful that people *still* have to put up with 30 criminal fakers for every 5 ads they place on there.

Note all the different area codes. It's every time. Another 4 or 5 in my email. This is simple, rules-based filtering, and Craigslist sure doesn't have a problem "figuring it out" when they wanna "ghost" someone's ads 8 ways from Sunday!

I've done well through the years (I am female and older) selling tools and sports equipment in NY and Asheville. Ah, sold my ten-year old car quickly and a motorcycle just as fast - good poses and facts help. But most people here still ask stupid questions (ignore them and move on). Take photos, price your items well and they move. Sure, there are some flakes but c'est la vie. I never had a no show. No want when they came to my place, yes. But that's okay.

House rentals or selling: Don't even bother. We ended up at one final CL ad (we had had it with the junk on CL) and called the agent (?) and said never send us to a dump like that again. It doesn't work for rentals or selling. Use an agent or the MLS or Mountain Xpress.

Personals: Most people seem to be illiterate. In women only, they are mostly men posing as women or pretending to look for their chick. So, I'd read and report - one couple wanted a woman for polygamy (I explained what illegal means) or just stay clear.

The monitoring is baloney and automated. I wouldn't bother with it.

I once posted an ad on craigslist personals, it was the casual m for w NSA section, where I posted an ad and a cpl pics. BIG MISTAKE. Soon after, my junk mail became flooded with spam, these spammers send u emails from supposed women who are lookin to hook up. The messages are composed with subtle discrepancies of English, as if the sender is from overseas (Nigeria?) and doesn't quite grasp the commonality of the language. The names of these "women" are obvious fake (ex.: Foxhorn Lippy, States McBroom, WTF?!?) and they'll actually use the same pics for different names. Also, each message they send provide a link to some b. S. Dating website where they are obviously a scam to get hold of ur bank acct #. I constantly have to erase my junk folder bcuz of these a-holes flooding my folder with this nonsense. I even tried to post a rant on CL about this. The same day, I was told that my post was flagged and removed. WTF craigslist?
