Yes, I was told that there would be some "extra." If I was putting this cover on an outdoor grill or patio furniture, that would be great, but the cover was advertised as being appropriate for synthesizers and audio equipment. Does it cover? Yes. Does it look custom-cut? No. For the price, it's a great cover, but I'd rather buy it twice having been too tailored in the cut than get a big, bulky cover. Other than that, it's a great cover for a great price.

My mistake for not researching further but zippers sounded like fully enclosed covers, not just a way to widen the opening. I'm stuck with worthless covers now. Oh well
