My CC expired so they couldn't charge, I updated the card on file but there is literally no way of paying a past due amount and they never auto charged.
There was no way to reach them by phone, no chat option and never responded to my request via the contact us page.
It's like they didn't want me to pay, GAVE ME NO OPTIONS ON HOW TO PAY and JUST CANCELED ALL OF MY PROGRESS, so wasted my time when I could have used a different company.
I enrolled in their 'free' trials for 7 days because my stupid company wanted us to take the 'writing emails in English professionally' and already canceled right after I finished the course, which is in 2 days. I even saw an advertisement of 50% discount if I was to continue anyway. But still a month later I was charged 49$ for the 'monthly fee' to which I'm 100% sure that I've already canceled.
I tried to go to their Help center and as you know, they weren't really helpful and it only got more frustrating as they say that any subscription made after the free trials is 'non-refundable'. I was stressed out so I don't really remember how many links I had to click to get to the chat box, in which I typed in my problem and asked for my refund. I was sent an email from their help desk, which even had a name and seemed the most likely to be a real person. In the email this person said that they've already issued a refund for my case and that my refund will be returned in the original form of payment in 3-5 days depending on my bank.
Just to make sure, I logged in to my Coursera account on laptop and try to cancel any 'subscription' that is still active, I found none. So I just deleted my credit card to stop them from ever charging me again. I'm still waiting for my refund tho.
I canceled the course during 7 free trial, they still charged me without notified which they are not supposed to charge at all, but still not refund as they promised.
3/27-signed up for Coursera and applied for financial aid
4/10-FA app approved. Prompted to verify my ID
4/11-attempted 64 times with different phones, tablets, PC to verify ID in daylight, inside light, LED light, etc FAILED-contacted support (ticket *******)-nothing they can do I must keep trying.
5/19-trying again to verify my ID. Tried dozens of times, even when on live Chat Help (ticket *******). FAILED.
5/19-Carrie, from Coursera, advised me to send a picture of the errors I encountered, and I sent them. Carrie then advised me "I was investigating on my end and it appears the issue you are experiencing is already a known problem on our end. Currently, I have reported the issue you are experiencing with the ID verification to our engineering team and they will be working as fast as possible to have this matter resolved." then she assured me "In this case, we have escalated the issue to our support team. They will be helping us to manually approve your ID verification. Please, give us a few more days to complete this verification for you."
6/8, today-account still not verified and I am still unable to ID verify.
Is the problem Persona? Is the problem Coursera? I have no idea but I know the customer service fails are Coursera (I have yet to find a CS number for Persona). I waited to write this review to ensure that Coursera had enough time to act in good faith IF THEY HAD ANY intentions of doing so. FAILED.
Please do not key in your credit card. It enrolls you into an auto scam system! They charge you without knowing.
I really enjoyed two courses (management and business). But another (programming) course was very, very long. Overall a good experience!
Advertisement claimed free month, nope free week and then BAM $50 charge. Certificates are a joke to potential employers.
I took about 30 courses from this site and all of them were well made and educational. As they say - stay hungry, stay curious!
My choice for additional education! Lost of courses and reasonable terms of service. If you are searching for online course - search it there.
I had previously enrolled in a Free Coursera class and enjoyed it, but then my curiosity lead me to search further into their website for class topics. I selected a 7-Trial Specialization, then after I added my information, I logged in to check out the content. It was awful. It was entirely boring and I quickly selected a few other videos for another perspective. They were no better, and I was completely uninterested.
I left the website, and did not return until I checked my bank account and saw a bill for $50! I didn't even remember signing up the week before. I never logged back in, nor watched another video. Then, they billed my account.
I have used several online "Free-Trials" and every other company, I can recall using, refunded my money - after accidental billing. Coursera does NOT offer refunds for Subscriptions, you MUST cancel within the 7-day window. Furthermore, they do not warn you about the upcoming charge to your account, nor do they acknowledge your lack of activity inside the course as honest disinterest.
I have since attempted to contact the company. They replied with a generic email about their NON-REFUNDABLE policy. I called my bank, they said I needed to call them. I attempted to call them, but their voicemail is complete disrespect. The Coursera operator recording the message even makes a mistake in the beginning of the message (How do you not fix that?). Then they tell you to email them and go to their website.
How does their service have any validity.
Why have more upset users not responded?
It would be nice for Coursera to correct their policy to allow refunds. I'm sure they can afford it. A quick Google search will reveal their massive income for their own employees.
If your service is truly something that is THAT good, then why not make the trial RISK FREE. It is just poor business.
When you open the case, you will not get case number by email, chat is not working, waiting for days
They give you 7 day trial, but they will charge you without notice, and you cannot ask refund. It is just stupid way to get money.
Thanks Coursera for lots of free courses, You helped to not waste quarantine entirely. Please, we need more free courses
Complete fraud. Just enrolled to free python course from google, after some time they just cut from my paypal 37£
Really a great place to get a free education. I already Completed a course and am looking forward to completing my second course.
