“Overall informative and objective thus far”

It is a good resource to start one's search of specific products. However, there are MANY cleaner, less toxic products out there in at least some categories (for example smaller businesses) AND where on earth is "Guthrie's Corner"...listed on fb page as the address?. The state should at least be given for transparency purposes. EWG's app for products I have heard is $$$$ motivated. Would love to see these apps reviewed.

“Won't test despite several subscribers request”

When reading about the various water filtering products approx. One year ago I requested that they also test the Clearly Filtered filters. They responded by reciting the Clearly Filtered manufacturer's published data rather than subjecting it to the same tests as the other products mentions. This month they, once again, tested several of the water filters on the market. In their statement they mentioned that several subscribers had requested that they test the Clearly Filtered filters. They once again responded by quoting the company's published data (that we are all capable of reading on our own). This still leaves the conclusion up to the subscribers to determine, which we can do without subscribing.

All of what they're consolidating is available somewhere else free online, consumer reports is 100% about making money off the less internet-research-Davy consumer they claim to care about. I'm sure a majority of their subscriber base is a bit older. Should be free, paid for by web traffic ads donation etc.

I was hoping to find the best and most reliable brands but the tests I've looked at so far (canned salmon, canned sardines, CoQ10) seem to only test store brands like Sam's Club or CVS or other low-quality brands. I can't find much testing of brands that tend to be higher quality and fewer additives (when it comes to supplements). This is a real disappointment.

Can't recommend. Tried to sign up for the 5-day free trial that the terms stated would not charge my card until after the 5-day trial ended yet they tried to charge my card $59.95 right after I put in my card info and hit Submit. Such a bad business practice to charge you at the start of a "free trial"! Who does that? Luckily my bank automatically declined the charge as suspicious before they could take the money out and it gave me a payment error message. What free trial charges you upfront so you have to ask for your money back within 5 days? This isn't what a FREE TRIAL is and your terms even indicate I shouldn't be charged until after the trial is up!

Tip for consumers:
The free trial is deceptive!

I've emailed them twice regarding my decision to cancel my membership within the first month of subscription. The reason is none of the supplements I use have been tested by them. There is simply no point for me to continue the subscription. It's been several weeks since I repeatedly emailed them. Unfortunately, they haven't replied to my e-mails. There is no way to cancel your membership on the website. They are not holding their promise. Do NOT submit your credit card info to this website! It looks like I'll have to start a dispute process with my bank.

Hi Mevlut - As you know, we fully refunded you on March 25th, the day after we received your message of March 24th. Unfortunately, we were transitioning our staff locations due to COVID-19 on March 13 when you sent your original message and it was missed. Normally, refunds are issued the day received or within one business day, and they can be emailed or called-in.

Oftentimes while reading ConsumerLab report, I feel that I'm reading from a Pharmaceutical magazine. Example... saying that Turmeric caused one person to be hospitalized with high liver enzymes without saying that the person was on many medication and with many health issues, is being deceitful. There is so many more examples especially on the products known to work well enough to possibly replace pharmaceutical drugs. Beware.

No, ConsumerLab is not associated with Pharma. We are independent and report both "good" and "bad" news regarding dietary supplements, including potential safety concerns.

It's much more difficult to navigate when receiving email updates. Articles require signing in and once signed in it takes whole lot of effort to locate the article. It used to point you exactly to the update. Now you need to scroll through all articles to locate the right one.

After being a member of Consumerlab for years I'm highly disappointed. They are moderating their posts even when links to NIH articles are included. So why comment? I'm thinking of unsubscribing...

I found consumer lab to be very boring in an informative and so I cancelled. Representative told me that I would have to be charged $30 for the first report it only got back $14 and change for canceling after 5 months which is ridiculous

Consumer lab AKA dr. Cooperman is not very reputable and I would not suggest you join consumerlab anytime soon

Twice in four years I have tried subscribing to Consumer Lab. Twice I got screwed. I get two newsletters, and then I get none. It is NOT up to me to completely change settings on my computer to accommodate them. That is their job. I am big on newsletters. I subscribe to many of them, and this is the ONLY one that constantly stiffs me. They take the $47. Whatever-cents and send me nothing in return. I had given up on their reviews anyway. The same companies over and over pay them to review their products. Rarely any new suppliers. I am so done with them. Now I have to try to get my money back.

I wanted to get info on Q-10 and was unable to check in to read it. Instead I get the message about paying ahead for the service. You make it too difficult to read what I am paying for. I do not like it when a company asks for payment 6 months ahead.

BAIT AND HOOK. BEWARE. When you go to their webpage for product comparison you have to agree to receive there newsletter which is sent out twice a week, they then send you to another page where you have to sign up for a PAID membership before they will send the information out. To me this is deceptive and they should inform you up front that you MUST have the paid membership to receive any information. I would have never agreed to receive the newsletters if I had known before hand that I would have to sign up for a paid subscription.

I am incredibly disappointed by the quality and lack of variety of information that I discovered after I subscribed for CL's membership earlier today. I was looking to get a recommendation for a prenatal vitamin and discovered the following:

1) The prenatal research that was done and published on your website compares only 3 multivitamin options
2) The only recommended option is a strange brand which is not sold in any mainstream stores
3) The recommended product is terribly reviewed across other independent sources and several customers have stated recently that this product arrived moldy

I was completely willing to pay for a year of subscription for useful and helpful information that would drive better decisions. Unfortunately, I cannot say anything from your site was helpful in regards to prenatal vitamins.

If you sign up for a free trial they will put the funds for a full membership on an authorization hold in your account wether you are using a credit or debit card. The website says the funds will be on hold for 5 days (the length of the trial) even if you cancel before those 5 days are up.

Here it is day 6 for me, I cancelled the trial on day 2 or 3, and the funds haven't been released by today day 6 so I called in. I was told at first it would take 7 days for my bank or card company to release the funds.

I told them no, I specifically used my PayPal debit card for this transaction because they release funds in hours not days. This has been tested by me on multiple occasions, so yes I know it to be true.

They asked when my trial ended, and I told them when I cancelled it. I was told 5 days after I signed up was when it ended even if I cancelled the "free trial" before then. I was then told that if you cancel your trial they would put a note in your account so you won't be charged at the end of the 5 days. If you need their services go for it I guess. I needed information on one thing and their top picks were discontinued, so I ended my membership as it didn't help me. So thanks for nothing but a headache I guess.

**My funds for the trial have now been released. So I guess it's just important that you know the information I've left above. The trial last a full 5 days even if you cancel bwfore those 5 days are up and they hold your funds ($42) for a full 5 days even if you cancel. In my case it was longer**

This review of how a free trial works is not accurate, so I'd like to clarify. If one takes a free 5-day trial, it is correct that a credit card is needed and the amount of a membership is "held" (but not charged) during the trial. If a person opts to cancel the trial and not have it turn into a membership, the funds that were held are immediately released by us -- the same day. The confusion this person had resulted from the fact that card companies and their banks often take several days to process this release, so it can take a while before the funds appear to be released. In fact, PayPal explains this on their website, noting that it can take "3 to 30" days. We explained this to the person who wrote this comment. We are glad that she added a note that her funds were released, but it would have been best if she explained the process correctly and that the cause of the delay was not ours.
