Go on Reddit- or believe these 1 star reviews. This company is a complete scam and will charge you hundreds even thousands of dollars more than that say. I NEVER used the service, I inquired and added my card to set up an account, and I have been charged over $500. They set up a date without you picking, send 0 email reminders or texts, then charge you for their "service"
Will not save you money, but rather drain your bank account. Awful company. Awful customer service - honestly, rot in hell Clutter.
All of my interactions with Clutter Staff always makes me feel like everything is being take care of in the most professional manner possible. I will continue to refer friends and family to Clutter. I encourage whoever is reading this to try them out!
I spent thousands storing my belongings with them over multiple years and when I received my items back EVERY single piece of furniture was destroyed. Not damaged, destroyed. Chair legs snapped, cabinets smashed and my couch was so moldy that it had to be thrown away because of the smell.
The damage is well in excess of $10,00 however the team only offered me $700 in damages which isn't just insulting its illegal. I was never offered the option for additional insurance like many other people.
I'm now heading into the weekend with no furniture so am required to rent some in the meantime whilst this issue is resolved. I'll be sure to add this expense as part of our ongoing dispute.
Whats worse is that their team said that movers were INTENTIONALLY damaging items when they heard that MakeSpace was being acquired by Clutter.
Please feel free to reach out to me for any specific as if the matter isn't resolved in the next few days I'll be filing a class action lawsuit.
The team was really great and got tipped well. I did not have a convenient time to provide an inventory or walkthrough and they mentioned that Clutter said there were "38 pieces of heavy furniture" but even without that furniture the benefit was really in the whole move being completed in far less time than my 6 hour estimate for a crew of two making the added cost of a third worthwhile. I recently followed up with a second company for a short house to house move of some remaining items and the difference in professionalism in favor of Clutter was very clear.
They took over for makespace and broke my piano and would only reimburse $57. I had dings on all my furniture, broken glasses, plates and my couch wasn't wrapped up when delivered. It's disgusting they can break a $2k piano and pay $57. :(
Honestly don't use and organize storage yourself. The whole experience with them has been shocking, from pick up where they tried to con us into paying tips twice, to storage being kept so far away from NY to then not delivering your stuff (the area in which they drop off is tiny). Then when trying to arrange pick up you have a militry small window in which to get your stuff on a schedule which is terrible. I couldnt arrange a SINGLE time to collect any item in the whole of DECEMBER 2023!
Did just what I needed to be done, remove clutter from my house, which was up for sale, and then deliver my goods in tact as requested. A bot expensive, however.
DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! I am beyond furious with Clutter's terrible moving AND customer services. They have caused me nothing but headaches, stress, and financial loss. Their so-called "proprietary end-to-end technology and digital experience" is nothing but a facade to cover up their incompetence and negligence.
During my move with Clutter, they lost almost $900 worth of items, including my blender, pots, pans, and other miscellaneous kitchen items. They also broke my ottoman, which they admitted fault to, but only offered me a measly $38 in compensation (mind you it's going to cost me $200 to repair). Such insult and it shows just how little they care about their customers.
Their "Limited Security Warranty Policy" is a joke, offering a maximum of only $1.00 per pound in aggregate per person. This policy hardly covers the full extent of the damage that I have suffered.
Oh and how much was the move? $2,800!
I strongly advise against using Clutter for any moving needs. They are unprofessional, unreliable, and downright dishonest. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere for a provider that values their customers and their belongings.
Clutter has never let us down. Extremely user friendly, well organized and well run operation. Thank you for making our storage experience painless and a HUGE time savor!
After Makespace was acquired terms and pricing changed. Considering it is a storage service, it would be too much work to take out when terms changed and place somewhere else, so you are stuck with accepting the new rates.
I am surprised Clutter hasn't gone out of business with all the complaints against it. The company is a total rip off. It changes its pricing whenever it fees like it, and there is nobody in customer service that ever answers the phone or live chats to discuss the changes.
Run fast from Clutter.com.
The entire experience, starting with identifying size options and getting a quote, finishing with pick up and visual documentation was seamless and simple, with no surprises. I also love that you always know how much room you have left in your space and what can fit. Movers themselves were great - they were fast, efficient and careful with my items. A great experience.
It is not made clear on the website that pricing is per item regardless of how small or how light those items are. This information is buried in the FAQ. It makes it prohibitively expensive to actually use the service, which was the entire point of signing up. Will not be renewing my contract once it's up and will move everything to self storage.
Clutter was extremely easy to get my storage things back. There were several days and times to chose from and having the live feed of where the truck was helpful for planning as well on the day of. Great communication by the team and easy to use online portal.
Service forgot to return one of the items from storage (a drawer chest) after asking for everything to be returned to new address. Took several days to find and retrieve this missing item. When the missing drawers were finally being delivered, the delivery drivers called once (I couldn't pick up as I was in a meeting) and left without even ringing door bell. I was subsequently charged hundredsfor their second delivery attempt, despite this being Clutter's fault from the beginning (after all, they were the ones who didn't deliver the missing item) and providing electronic proof there was no door bell ring.
I will put this online once I have time...
A huge mirror that would cost hundreds of dollars to replace and it was lost/broken by clutter and I was only compensated $42. I will never use Clutter again and have told everyone I know about my experience and not to use it.
I had to take Clutter to court in order to get my belongings back. It wasn't until Clutter was served by NYC Small Claims Court that they put in an effort to look for my bins! Several months had gone by and, voila, the my bins were shipped from the very warehouse they had originally been stored in! What the serious $#*!?!?
I have no words to describe how horrible my experience with Clutter has been. Starting with the deceit and hidden fees all the way to destroying half of my belongings and furniture, including my TV, my ceramic tables, vases. Almost every item they moved and packed at least had a scratch, and the majority of my high value items were completely destroyed. I signed up with this service thinking I would pay x amount (like they advertise when you sign up), but the day of the move, the fee increased by $500 without an explanation. They claimed that was what was shown the entire time? Lies. Refused to fully reimburse all my damaged belongings, and oh doesn't matter if they destroy your entire household items and everything you ever owned, per their policy, they will never refund more than $2500. Horrible experience, damaged my old apartment during the move-out and my new apartment during the move-in with scratched on the floor, walls and debris everywhere. I wish I read a review like this before spending almost $4000 in moving, packing, and storage fees (FOR ONLY ONE MONTH). This ridiculous amount doesn't even cover all the money I lost from them destroying half of my furniture. Please avoid them like the plague - if you think you're saving money, you will absolutely end up paying at least double the amount in "hidden fees". I have moved a dozen of times before, and even from coast to coast, and have never had a horrible experience like this one. If you care about your money, your belongings, your sanity and mental health do not use this horrible company.
This storage company is the worst, they are very unprofessional I suggest No one use this company.you will thank me later. You all have been warned.
It's a shame that my experience with Clutter was so abismal that I have been driven to write this review. To put it simply: Clutter was dishonest and unhelpful at every step throughout my moving and storage experience. I purchased 20 plastic storage containers that were ready to go along with 20 other items that were packed in boxes, a couch, TV, and 5 other large items in a 1-bedroom apartment. Their team, while comprehensive in protecting the items, took *6 hours* to move my pre-packed apartment items. That is in contrast to my partner who used a different service with similar items that took 48 minutes end-to-end. Remember that you pay for their movers by the hour. The only premium benefit that Clutter offers is inventory visibility and control, but they did not open any of the pre packed boxed for the pictures, so I now need to pay for multiple boxes to be shipped to me to find one item.
As a sad conclusion to the saga, I paid for a 10x10 space because that was more than sufficient from my measurements and visibly from how my items were secured in their truck. Upon receipt of my items, they immediately and automatically doubled the space to a 10x20, doubling the monthly cost without my consent. The reason is because their storage unit height is **4 feet**. This is in contrast to the industry average storage unit height of 8-10ft. Clutter pricing is opaque and deceptive. Please be careful before electing their services.
