I used to use the company with great success and happiness. Now they find ways to screw the customer and you can't get a real person on the line. What a $#*!hole of a company! Never, ever use them!
Found two tickets, round trip from Germany to the States and back for a phenomenal $1700 price. After I entered my credit card information and proceeded to book, a message popped up that the price has changed to over $5400 (MORE THAN TRIPPLE THE PRICE). Obviously I didn't proceeed with the purchase, however cheap tickets still charged my card $29.96 processing fee for a transaction that didn't happen! I will never book with them again, I hope their practices will bite them in the $#*! one day.
I was booking a ticket through then and it gave me the option of paying $82 for seat selection, which I did. The ticket jumped from $321 to $403, but they did not allow me to pick a seat. Then, when they emailed me the ticket, it did not say that I paid for seat selection. I called them, and they said that I didn't pay for seat selection, that was just the fare. I called the airline, and the airline told me directly that there was no indication that I had paid for seat selection. So, they charged me $82 for seat selection and I did not get to pick my seat. Nor did my receipt show that I paid it. They just bundled the fee in with the fare which gave me no recourse at all.
IF (big IF) I book through cheap tickets again, but I will NEVER pay for seat selection through them again. I'd just book the baseline fare and then go to the airline's website to pick a seat.
Learn from my mistake. Don't pay for seat selection - just purchase baseline fare and then go to the airline to pick your seat. :)
The first night was beyond horrible. Extremely loud rap music and drunk people in the cabin next to us partying till after 10pm then back at it at 8am. Beware of hidden cleaning fees tacked onto your hotel price after you book. Our room went from $126 a night to $146 after booking! Triple check your reservation details too! The room description on cheap tickets was inaccurate and NOT the booked room. The owner wanted to charge another $20 a night for a jetted tub that was in the description on cheap tickets but NOT the actual booked room. She did waive that fee for us. Also Cheap tickets had the room for $28 dollars less three weeks later for the exact same booked room the weekend we were staying. I was told that they would price match no problem. That was a lie. It was ultimately up to the hotel if they wanted to price match or not. Guess what big surprise they chose not to. I will never book or recommend Cheap tickets or Golden Bear cottages to anyone for all the hidden fees, inaccurate room bookings, and all the hours I spent on the phone trying to get it all corrected without spending another $80 in hidden fees and upcharges. To bad though, the owner is nice and cottage was cozy.
I booked a flight several months ago from LAX to Rome. It was cancelled, and without asking me the company issues airline credit. Unfortunately said credit can only be used with the original airline (airlingus), and every new option offered would require me to pay an additional cost which exceed the price of a brand new ticket. So the credit is really... not one. It's a scam to get you to buy a new ticket. And so I did. I bought a new ticket, which weeks later got changed to a different date. I was ok with the new date, but a few weeks later the ticket got cancelled and I wasn't even notified of it. I randomly logged into the app to find out that my upcoming trip was now in the "cancelled trips" section.
I called them, and waited 8.5 hours on the phone. I was told that they cannot put me on any other flight, and that the only option is to issue a refund, but since (apparently) it has to go through the airline, it will take roughly 12 weeks for that to be issues. 12 weeks. Unbelievable.
So here I am with:
- $995 lost on an airlingus ticket that I'll never get back.
- $1423 that SHOULD be refunded in 12 weeks.
Considering taking legal action since this truly appears to be an orchestrated scam.
I would rate my experience with CheapTickets website as extremely poor. On July 3rd, 2023, I purchased two tickets for a flight from Amman, Jordan to Toronto, Canada with a layover in Vienna and Paris. However, upon arriving in Amman, my wife and I were informed by Austrian Airlines staff that she was not allowed to transit through two European countries with her Yemeni passport.
I immediately contacted CheapTickets for assistance, but after a long argument, their representatives were unable to provide any helpful information or solutions. They refused to make any changes or offer a refund, and instead directed me to contact Austrian Airlines. When I did contact Austrian Airlines, they also refused to offer any assistance or a refund, and directed me back to CheapTickets.
I spent hours going back and forth between the two parties, both of whom were unwilling to take responsibility for the situation. As a result, I was left stranded in Amman, Jordan and had to purchase new tickets at an additional cost of $3000.
Overall, my experience with CheapTickets website was extremely frustrating and disappointing. Their lack of assistance and support caused significant inconvenience and financial loss, and I would not recommend using their services in the future.
I had two terrible experiences with this company. First, we booked a hotel stay in Florida through them in March 2013 that promised a $75 hotel credit upon check-out. However, the hotel refused to honor the credit because they indicated that CheapTickets failed to enter it into the reservation system. After multiple calls to the CheapTickets "Customer Service," follow-up e-mails provideding various documentation (which they already had in their system), etc., they eventually agreed to issue a $100 voucher good off of a future CheapTickets.com booking.
Unfortunately, they don't deduct the voucher amount from the price at time of booking, as most reputable companies too. Rather, they require you to book it through them, pay in full via credit card, and then send in ANOTHER request for a refund of the voucher amount. Despite this RIDICULOUS process, I complied with these directions in booking a subsequent hotel stay in Massachusetts earlier this month. I sent in all of the documentation requested to claim my refund (again, even though thye had it all in their system). Incredulously, they refused to honor the voucher and provide the refund, stating that I had to book ANOTHER trip through them to be eligible for the refund. They simply ignored my follow-up e-mail providing all of the relevant documentation from both trips.
Terrible customer service and inept (at best) business practices. Buyer Beware!
I booked a trip for May through your website in January - I also purchased the "insurance" for the ticket at the same time. A very good friend of mine happens to be getting married on the same day as my return flight. When I realized I would not be back in time for her wedding I contacted your company to change my flight to an earlier time. I was told that it would be an additional $200 PLUS the flight. When I asked why I had to pay an additional $200 I was told that it was American Airlines that is charging the fee. When I contact American Airlines to try and work directly with them, I was told that it was "Cheap Tickets" who was charging me the fee. Which is it? YOUR COMPANY or AA? I have never been so disappointed with a booking agency than yours. When I contact the insurance company (at the suggestion of your team) I got no where. This has been the worse experience and frankly your policies are unfair. I literally want to change a flight from evening to morning and you expect me to pay a change fee of $200?! It's ridiculous. The flight is not for another month. I would expect a change fee of that amount in the mount that I was flying but not 6 weeks out! I will never use your services EVER again and I will be sure no one I know ever does either.
Used it when I came to the States to do my internship. Good service and cheap prices for Dutch conditions. Flights from Schipol to JFK were good at price and availability.
Booked Flight for e and another person to Ft. Lauderdale in 2020, the flight was cancelled due to covid 19. When I called about my credit in December 2021, I was told that I had to use my credit before June 30,2022. I called Cheap tickets to tell them that we could not complete the trip in June due to both of us having medical conditions that would not allow us to fly at this time. When I spoke to an employee by the name of John {he said he could not give a last name}, On June 9,2022, I was assured he would request the credit back and I could use it at another time. He said he made notes to the file and I should get an email by June 12,2022 about my credit. I did not receive an email by that date and I just called Cheap Tickets again asking about my credit telling them about my conversation with John. They claim that their are no notes to the file except the notes from December 2021. They want me to submit a Doctors note for both myself and my other passenger and they will submit it to the airline to see what happens. The people you talk to all read from a script they are given while giving the customer no real answers, however they can take your money fast enough when you first book. I have no refund and no credit as of today so they have just bilked two senior citizens out of $1,056 dollars. I will never use them again and I would advise everyone to stay away from them.
Awful service!
I booked a flight paying extra for suitable seats. The seats were confirmed with your e-mail. When I checked-in and got the boarding pass, I found out that my seat is different from what was confirmed. If I would not paid extra for those seats I've picked, the price of the ticket would be $100 less. It is not about extra fee. I agreed to pay extra to be able to seat where I wanted to. When I spoke with rep. Paul, wasted an hour of my time, I was told that I paid for the flight only. I was trying to explain him that I was paying for two seats $50 each (looking at the map) He was telling me that cheaptickets doesn't sell seats and all I did I requested seats and I would be able to get those seats if they were available. On the map there were seats marked unavailable, available for no additional charge and available for an additional charge. I chosen those for an additional $50!
And there's no any itemization on a receipt.
When I checked-in online a night before the flight, my boarding pass showed different seats (non-reclinable, at the end of the cabin)
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! I purchased a round trip flight to Miami and it wasn't until I got my email confirmation did I see that the trip was accidentally booked for a one month stay rather than a 4 day trip. When I called cheaptickets they refused to modify my return flight and said I had to pay the same amount as the cost of a round trip. Furthermore, they also refused to credit the return for a future flight. I called the airlines and the were very apologetic. They informed me while they were unable to do anything, cheaptickets had the authority to fix the flight free of charge. Of course when I called cheaptickets back they still refuse to do so and insist they have no authority. I request to speak to a manager and he tells me he will investigate the manner which will take 7-10 days. It's been almost 3 weeks now and still no call. I highly doubt a report was ever even made seeing as I wasn't even given a confirmation number. I will NEVER book with them again and I urge everyone to purchase tickets elsewhere!
If I can do a 0 rating I would. I want to shut this company down... single handedly. Short story. They canceled my return flight back. Used the credit to fund my flight change that they purposely changed with out our consent. We drove an hour from New York to Jersey to catch a flight back to Houston. To find the attached the return flight was changed. Was on hold with the them for 4 hours. They would find a close flight then have me on hold for an hour until we missed the flight. Only to come on the phone to tell me it has passed and asking if they can search for another flight then put me on hold again to tell me that one they and booking for us has flown... this happening over and over for 4 hours. 4 times. I had a 10 month old baby with me. I had Uber drop us off. We had no food. It was freezing plus it was new years eve! We had to use my husbands second cell while I was on hold to call them. They then hung up on my call! With out notice.! I hyperventilate and cried my eyes out. Finally they offered another flight with another company. Man. Just 12 mins from departure! We had to run from terminal C to A. Of course they took off. 9pm. No flights to Houston. We are now in a hotel. Over priced Cuz of new year's... I'm melting ice to make baby's bottles Cuz each bottle of water is $5... I'm so depressed.
My trip is in 23 days. I called my hotel to verify the european outlet converter i would need and they let me know ties were cut with Cheap Tickets and I was never notified. I booked my trip in March, they cut ties in April and cancelled all reservations made through Cheap Tickets. Cheap tickets did not want to take responsibility. It took an hour to get transfered to a supervisor. She tried rebooking me at a hotel hours away from my original hotel. Refused to pay for a room that was a slight upgrade and. She complained that she could not find a similar room at a similar price. OF COURSE NOT, I LEAVE IN LESS THAN A MONTH! The supervisor had the audacity to tell me she was going to cancel my trip all together! 2 hours on the phone for them to request I book the same exact hotel on Hotels.com, said they would reimburse me for my new reservation and it would take 5 business days for reimbursment. Nothing is in my account from them and now they are saying they "dont see" my proof of reciept from Hotels.com. They finally "find" my email and are just now processing a reimbursment that is going to take an ADDITIONAL 5 days! They are making this trip an absolute headache.
The hotel is still listed on their website available to book. Traveling to Greece has always been my dream trip and they have taken away from that.
Booked a ticket and they raised the price by 300 U$ very rude agent which calls himseff Lion. Terrible service DO NOT USE THEM
June was absolutely superb. Made our day and what a wonderful person. God bless girl, you are fantastic! John and Michelle McLinden - Australia
DO NOT book with this site. You WILL regret it. I had a R/T flight to Budapest cancelled in 2020 due to COVID, as the Budapest airport stopped allowing inbound flights from abroad, as did America for quite a while. Cheap Tickets said no when I asked for a refund. Instead I was issued a flight credit for $565. However, I was advised that when I re-book, I'd have to pay a $300 change fee (sheer profit for them). So in essence, my flight credit should have been worth about $265. I called yesterday to inquire about booking a flight to Italy and this credit. I gave the flight details and was told that a one way ticket to Catania would be $566. Then I asked about the cost for round-trip airfare. After about 15 minutes of nothing, the rep came back on and quoted $980. Oddly enough, I was on the Cheap Tickets website, and the cost showing for R/T airfare to Catania was $878. Realistically, when both the flight credit and the change fee is factored in, the fare should have come to $613. The rep simply told me to check back later, since prices fluctuate, and I might find a better fare later on. Simply disregarding the credit and paying the fare showing on their website would have been $100 less than trying to book a flight with the credit that I am (still) owed, although they've made it quite obvious I will not be able to redeem it. Unfortunately this is the type of horrific service that you have to deal with when using this company. To anyone determined to book through them anyway, I'll go ahead and say it. Kiss you money and your patience goodbye, because you're going to lose a lot of both. Unfortunate still, I rated them 1 star, although, if possible, they deserve much lower.
Once you book and pay for the ticket neither you will fly nor you will get refund.
Very dangerous booking site
I have just had the WORST experience ever in my life with a reservation. I had an existing reservation with three people traveling. Total initial cost was $2,900.00. I called to make a change to the return only with two of us doing one thing and the third party something else. I EXPECTED to pay change fees - no problem. The dude on the other end of the line said his name was "Dylan" - yet is broken English had me believing this was not the name his mother gave him at birth. Well after about an hour working on one part of this reservation, Dylan informed me that my change fee for the two people was going to be $883.00 - I said "ok", do it. Well when Dylan read back the itinerary, he had nuked my departure flight and I said "How the hell am I going to get to Albany from Phoenix?" Well Dylan then said he was getting my original flight back and the charge would be $1,036.00. I said "instead of the $883.00? - He said "Exactly". I told him again "ok" - Then my text message from Chase immediately alerts me that $1,836.00 had been charged to my debit card.
I then asked for a supervisor and Dylan placed me on hold again until "Lucy" picked up and identified herself as a supervisor. I told her I wanted me original flight back the way it was and $1,836.00 immediately credited to my account. She placed me on hold for about an hour until I picked up my cellphone and called and repeated the whole story to another low level operator. I sit here now, three hours into this on hold with two separate people. Oh yea, and I have emailed CHASE in between to alert them that the charge of $1,836.00 is fraudulent and I am not paying it... I WILL NEVER USE CHEAP TICKETS AGAIN...
Answer: These are a bunch of crooks that are in the process of being sued and put out of business by our state's Attorney General... BEWARE OF THIS SCAM!
Answer: In this situation. I probably would. Just keep in mind that the sale is final and where you may be placed might not be a prime location despite what you pay. Unfortunately last minute purchasing can put you in a vulnerable situation.
