What clients are basically saying to their customers when they use this service:
Sorry, you screwed up its not our fault. This is where our customer service ends. We will not take responsibility or play any part in seeing that you get your item back timely or at all. We dont care by design, have a nice day.
It took literally over a month to find items that should be found in hours or minutes.
I left my company phone on an American Airlines fight. I realized I left the phone after I got to the baggage claim beyond the no return security checkpoint.
Called American Airlines and they said that they did have a lost and found anymore but that they used a third party vendor called Charger Back. I filled out a lost report almost 2 months later after basically writing my phone off as never to be found I get a text that the phone has been found and I am given three options for its return ranging from overnight to 3 day ($29 - $18).
Not sure what to do at this point, Its worth having the item back but it seems a little bit scamy to me.
I would never deal with this company if I had an option, but because the airline or hotel etc. does you have no choice.
I left an item on a United flight and not being able to find a United L&F number, I filed a lost item report with ChargerBack with a very specific description of the item. Thirty days later ChargerBack contacted me and provided exactly one option for its return: express delivery for $20. Despite having already replaced the item, I paid the fee and then learned that it was found the same day I had lost it (and I suspect not more that 15 minutes after I left the plane).
Hotel Breakers at Cedar Point found my item per our call. Chargerback says it can't be found. Now I have to drive back and get it. Lucky it's 2 hr drive. I think Chargetback is just another scam.
This company has screwed those who lose items. It has made an outlet for businesses like the Marriott in Redmond, WA from holding any accountability in finding items. After I checked out and was driving to the airport I realized I left an irreplaceable item in the hotel room. I called the hotel directly and tried to tell them where the item was and how to retrieve it but they insisted I submit through Chargerback. What a joke. I never heard back from either company. I've now inquired a handful of times with no response. And when I call the hotel they say to inquire with Chargerback. So... no one actually is holding any accountability as to who should have been looking for this item. Or that someone from the hotel, who is actually the ones doing the cleaning in the rooms, was aware that a lost item existed. This company does not match the expectation.
I lost my camera while on vacation. Two weeks later I contacted the Doubletree Wakiki to see if they had found it. They did find it and told me how to go on charger back and get it returned. They were fast and efficient! 4 days later and $15 shipping, my camera is back to me. Thanks
Don't give them any card info unless it is thru pay pal. No phone # to call completely automated system.
System is automated - what is happening in the background is completely, hidden. The problem is not chargerback it is United. There are no controls on the people cleaning/freshening the planes. As a result if they find a phone or jewelry, it is up to each of the people working on the plane to turn it in.
They do not respond to emails, they don't even list their contact numbers on their website, you have to look that up separately, which doesn't matter because nobody ever answers. This is such a great idea but It's useless because they are impossible to contact. Every company that uses this program is creating a huge disservice to their clients.
A week ago I left 4 pair of shorts, 2pair of shirts in Charleston sc. And I'm from Washington state. They were delivered today. It's the first time I used them and wow I got a 150.00 dollars worth the stuff back for 18.79. I will use them again if I have to they were great
I left a laptop in the airplane and discovered it only when I was already home. Chargerback is the only option United Airlines provides; I filled out the form, but had a feeling that I should not trust some bogus 3rd party company with such an important thing. I was so right - these guys did not lift a finger to do anything, their automated system just keeps sending emails like "we will be searching your item for 30 days and will email you if we find anything". I have put my own efforts and recovered my laptop next day; it's been several days since I got it back, but I still get those emails that they are actively searching. Obviously, they have no connection with the airline and wouldn't even bother to call them. Total scam - shame on United Airlines!
I left some prescription sunglasses on American Airlines. Chargerback sent me an email saying I would get periodic updates, and let me know in 30 days whether they were found or not. Never got an update, only canned responses to the emails I sent to them requesting information. I don't believe anyone ever even looked for them.
Rip off -Scam company. Prey on people who have lost items from the airport. Makes you think it is from American Airlines and charges you $45. To find your item within a month. Contacts you from time to time to make you think they are finding your item. After a month, they do not refund your money if they don't find your item, as originally stated. When questioned they say that the refund is only if there is a problem with sending your item back to you. Be careful... they are a SCAM! Called Chargerback. They are printed on the bottom of a page in small print. DON'T USE THEM!
