Car gurus is great for doing research until you are actually looking for a vehicle. Example, say you are looking for a new car with a maximum price of $20,000. In the search area, you filter to search by price, you input a minimum of $5000 and a maximum of $20,000 and you get 150 pages of vehicles. The problem is, in your search area, say 100 miles from a zipcode, there are only 15 cars that meet the criteria. The rest are all cars with $30-100K MSRP with no price. So you are left sifting through hundred and hundreds of cars just to find the ones that fit for what you are looking. There is no option to exclude vehicles with no price. Therefore I can't recommend it as a vehicle search tool.
You would think using CarGurus would save all the hassle negotiating at the car dealerships. It is frustrating using CarGurus as the dealers are listing cars that are not available and they tried to mark up MSRP as much as $60k. Technology supposed to help us but your technology frustrates us! CarGurus, ask yourself WHY you have this platform in the first place!
Mistakenly signed up with this company through a rep named Anal O'Brien, a real see you next tuesday type of gal. Worthless leads unless you like talking to call center/ boiler room morons that do nothing but pump up the fake stats on calls received. They put their own FAKE NUMBER in your ad and try to EXTORT these hidden goldmine numbers to try to upsell another POS product. Another hilarious joke is their opinion of what they think a car is worth. THEY DON'T EVEN SELL CARS. DO NOT use them, ask fellow dealers their opinion... Read the Google review of them. RANKED #204 FOR DEALER WEBSITES... THEY EARNED IT
I looked on CarGurus because I have looked at cars before on the website and it was reliable the first time, I used them. I didn't want to finance a car because I didn't think it was in my budget, but I found a car that had low mileage had no prior accidents and looked like it was a good reliable car. It was called SHMULO LLC, they were a little hard to find but if you call them, they can direct you. My friend drove me there, and I ended up having to finance the car, but it was very easy and honest process. He was considerate of my position and assured me that I could call to refinance if I needed to. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a friendly dealership that cares about the bottom line paying off your car loan.
ADAM WITH HEBRON AUTO SALE DID INCREDIBLE JOB SELLING ME MY TRUCK HE STAY AFTER HOURS VERY FRIENDLY BEST CAR BUYING EXPERIENCE I RECOMMEND HIM TO EVERYONE HE WILL TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF YOU... KAREN DAVIS.
I listed my car on Cargurus. I had a buyer lined up who said they wanted to do the deal remotely using CarGurus PAY (their online "Escrow" service - great idea, but it doesn't work). I went through all the steps, submitted all my personal information, DL photo, bank information, only to have their platform FAIL repeatedly to complete the final step of linking to my bank. It's a huge, National Bank, I don't have a lien, either - I tried a second bank - same problem. Support was UTTERLY USELESS. No phone number, just email, and after several emails, the guy says, "it appears we might not be able to help you with your transaction". Well, No Sh*t. He suggested calling the DMV? AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.
I listed my vehicle for sale and their instant market value showed *******. Then a week later it shows *******, so you get ripped off pricing too cheap. Scam and not to be trusted.
Is really bad customer services a sales people all what they worry about it is to take your money and than they will play game with u watch out for this guy
They have all fake leads they they over charge and if you pay more your car show up as a great deal not recommend to shop or do advertising with Cargurus.
Overcharged with bad service:
What happens to us? The radius of our car dealer was reduced without notice. When we asked, why this happened. The answer was your plan is not in effect anymore. If you want to back to reach more shoppers, we put you on another plane which is two times more expensive. Later this year, they asked for more money to show our cars before other dealers. Another dealer should buy more to be at the top. And so on. Through the last three years, we found ourselves paying CarGurus more than half of what we earn.
Bad customer service: No one answered. If you find someone responding to your call, he/she answers call your account manager. We leave a message to the account manager several times, no answer.
Circle of evil:
Small Dealers like us buy cars fix them and pay rent, insurance, and salaries, in the end, CarGurus shares the profits. Using the same technique. Rising some dealers over others and back repeat the circle again.
I do not recommend CarGurus to any dealers or buyers.
NEVER NEVER LOG ONTO CAR GURU. THEY WILL PERMANENTLY RECORD YOUR CELL PHONE OR COMPUTER NAME AND SEND YOU THOUSANDS OF UN SOLICITED E MAILS FOREVER! THEY WILL SCREW UP YOUR DAILY LIFE! THIS IS THE MOST DESPICABLE NASTY COMPANY OUT THERE THAT WILL HARASS YOU FORT HEIR OWN PROFIT... DON'T BE STUPID AND BE ENTICED TO THEIR SLEAZY CRAP. AND THEIR CARS ADVERTISED ARE NOT THE BEST LISTS ANYWAY
Worthless! Don't waste your money trying to sell your vehicle with them. I paid for the premium listing and they buried it so deep no one could find it.
So after spending the money to list on the site, I've concluded this is likely a total scam run by dealers. Here's my story and I will quickly amend my rating and response if someone proves me wrong. As a private party selling, you list your car with details. You provide a VIN to verify. The listing looks good and there is this "contact form" for an interested buyer to reach you. Here's the catch. They enter their phone and email into the form - but that contact information does not get to you. You can only chat electronically on the site and if you enter a phone number or email they block the message. So there is no way to have a conversation with a buyer. Dealers however can list numbers. Several buyers were interested in my car - a very nice car. I finally snapped a photo of my phone number for them so they could see it and we were able to get connected. But within the hour CarGurus deleted the photo. They say this is to protect the parties, but it pertains only to private buyers. Again, I am open to amend my opinion if someone can show me otherwise. The buyers were as frustrated or more so than me. I even had friends run test inquiries and send their contact information but nothing came.
It's a dealers site. It's not a private party site. Don't waste your money listing with them.
I saw scar one price and when I got ready to go purchase the car Nissan in Buffurd Georgia had lied about the price and I went back on Guru and they had upped the price in one day. Sad and told me to show them a picture!
I have sold several cars through this site generally works very well, BUT?
AFTER PICKING YOUR DESIRED CAR, FEATURES, MILEAGE AND PRICE to buy a car You try to use the search by distance button, it will not change beyond your first pick. You go to change it with your perfect options selected and NOPE that drop down menu is not usable! CAN"T SEARCH BEYOND CERTAIN DISTANCE! REALLY?
Excellent customer service, very helpful, good communication and a very smooth transaction! Would recommend to anyone looking to by new or used vehicles
This company run my credit report without my authorization just for getting on their site looking at different vehicles I did not apply for any vehicle.
0% CUSTOMER SERVICE $2500-3500 YEARLY PRICE INCREASE START U OFF CHEAP THEN SUCKER PUNCH U AT EVERY TURN AND RAISE $ WHEN U START TO BE SUCCESSFUL THEY ARE A HORRIBLE COMPANY TO DEAL WITH AND A VERY DISHONEST EMPLOYEES THAT HAVE NO CONCERN FOR U OR BUSINESS
Car Gurus makes it difficult to leave bad reviews for dealers that are running scam. Most dealers are just fishing for personal financial information and not really serious about selling a car
This advertising company will rate vehicles on price and when you see the car that they list as a "great deal" it's junk! As they say you get what you pay for.
Answer: Everyone I contacted wanted me to purchase in full price
CarGurus has a rating of 2.9 stars from 366 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with CarGurus most frequently mention customer service, good deal and phone number. CarGurus ranks 7th among Car Buying sites.
