The company's reputation is mixed, with notable strengths in customer service from specific sales teams who are praised for their attentiveness and support during vehicle purchases. However, significant concerns arise regarding transparency and pricing practices, particularly with hidden fees and perceived bait-and-switch tactics. Many customers express frustration over inconsistent pricing and a lack of responsiveness from dealerships listed on the platform. Overall, while some users appreciate the ease of finding vehicles, many report dissatisfaction with the selling process and the reliability of the information provided, indicating a need for improved communication and clarity.

Not suprised they only have 2 stars We tried to sell a vehicle through them and they never even responded. And it was a very nice vehicle. We also inquired about a vehicle they had for sale and were never contacted. We received an email today that asked if the dealer had ever contacted us and when we put in NO a page came up and said they were not available. They are totally wotrthless and they are now residing in my spam.
I checked several places for a quote to sell my car. Car Gurus was the highest. I accepted the offer, submitted information online and scheduled a pick up. I received a FedEx package two days later and the driver called to confirm. However, the morning of pick up no one showed. I called and they apologized and scheduled another driver for the same day. I was slightly inconvenienced, but the new driver was wonderful. Went through all the steps, signed my Bill of Sale and the money was in my bank account the next morning. Overall I'm extremely pleased with the experience. I would have rated a 5 if there hadn't been the first driver hiccup.
Bought a vehicle from D&C Auto through cargurus.com out of Portland OR. Supposed to be black on black. Rims were plastic dip an started peeling and flaking off first car wash. Warped rotors and really dirty inside. The back of the second row literally had been duct taped on. Called the salesman who guaranteed that he would take care of it. $150 for warped rotors is supposedly in the Mail. Guy also told me it was my fault for buying online when I'm paying him not to have the BS and vehicle defects and to be delivered as advertised. Long story short. I'll never buy a vehicle online again. Dealership refused to spend $500 to fix the rims. D&C has inventory with cars for sale for 100k plus but won't pay for their mistake of $500, when my vehicle was less than a third of that oh well here's my opinion and review it'll probably just get deleted anyway.
Run, don't walk, from this business. Weeks of confused communications and apologies on their end then the driver doesn't show on the prearranged pickup date because "she's busy." HOURS on the phone and text with their staff and no one knew what was going on, despite my having paperwork and confirmation. They need to be SHUT DOWN due to consumer fraud.
Ridiculous! Tried buying a vehicle twice and both times the dealership wouldn't honor the price it's listed for on cargurus! Complete waste of time and very frustrating
Please be aware, even though the information says getting pre qualified is a soft pull and will not affect your credit, that is not true (at least not in my case). It is a hard pull and it does show up on your credit.
This is the reason I rated a Car Gurus a 4 rather than 5. I really enjoyed the app and the people at car Gurus are helpful and super fast at answering any questions.
I have had 5 different inquiries…alleged interested parties since my vehicle has been listed. All bogus! All employ the same canned." is your vehicle still available " I reply in the affirmative…would you like to see. Drive? No reply. Totally fake. Totally fabricated. Zero rating is what they deserve. Ed S. Vehicle is currently listed.
I had a year old 2021 Volvo S60 I wanted to sell. MSRP new was $48,000. CarGurus offered me $18,000. We Buy Any Car offered $25,000 and I sold it back to the local dealer for $36,500. CarGurus would have royally screwed me if given the chance.
"Dealership Fraud" I purchased a Range Rover sport from Alex, on May 06,2022. And this vehicle was absolutely a "LEMON" I immediately cancel the contract within 24 hours after taking the vehicle home and every light on the dashboard came on. How disappointing. I took the vehicle and had a complete diagnostics done by a real dealership at Range Rover -Dallas to find that there was absolutely over $7k of repairs needed before this vehicle could safely be driven on the highway. After returning the vehicle to Alex he agreed to give me back my $4K in deposit. After he received keys back. He refused to do so. It's been over one month now. This dealership is HIGHWAY ROBBERY! Very dishonest. I experience nothing but dealership fraud. Very sad to know that there are people still out in this world doing this type of crime legally. I won't stop until I have reported them to every agency out there. All I'm requesting is for my 4K deposit back. Now you have this same vehicle back on the lot for sale. Customers please be aware. This is absolutely unfair business practice. I won't stop until I get my money back!
Tricky and not good reliable website
Don't use them for any of your buying car choice I had I bad experience using them
I travel a lot, and don't have lots of flexibility with my hours. I stick to a hard schedule and count on others commitment to schedules. I had selected a date & time for GurCurus (and their team, because it's still so unclear who actually picks up your car) to pick up and finalize the sale of my Tesla.
Not only did my pickup team completely bail on the day of pickup, they didn't even bother to call me they weren't coming. I gave them a two hour window on a beautiful Saturday for pickup. 3.5 hours later, I decided I should call and see what the situation was. After talking to about 8 different people, one woman named Mary told me "sorry, it was cancelled for no apparent reason." Talk about trust.
Now they're asking if I can reschedule, while I'll be traveling the next two weeks. If you're thinking of using CarGurus, safe yourself the time.
I was looking for a pre owned vehicle on the lot. I was looking for a car with low mileage and had my type of interest in vehicles. I was placed in the perfect car. It looked brand new being a used car and my customer service rep Brandon Hampton handled me very well. He was very knowledgeable about the vehicles there, kind and knew just what I wanted based on my interests. I walked out happily and appreciate the great customer service.
Car Guru gave me an offer 2000$ OVER everyone else. The process was easy. I received the money in my bank acct the next day. Will be doing business with them again
They are good at finding cars but every down payment I could afford, car guru would delete mine and insert THOUSANDS! Stop it! YOU PISS PEOPLE OFF
Is really bad customer services a sales people all what they worry about it is to take your money and than they will play game with u watch out for this guy
This company run my credit report without my authorization just for getting on their site looking at different vehicles I did not apply for any vehicle.
I went to a car dealership that was horrible and car guru won't allow me to leave a review on them because I didn't use their website to find this dealership. That leaves for horribly inaccurate information on a dealership. That website shouldn't exist with that business model
Pure water no anti freeze knowing we were driving way North disconnected Kat light when connected find out convertors on backwards all jacks and tire tools disappeared including spare tire tool 65 days to get Title made us pay overnight against contract terms Rude per shots of mistruth
Cargurus is a scam! Once they took my money they said I had to take a picture of my vehicle with the door open. I did it like ten times and every time they kept saying something was wrong with it. I have the newest iPhone with an excellent camera so they are full of crap. They took my money and never provided me a service. I'm very angry and wish I could find the person that played me like a fool so I could do the same back to them. Scammers. I attached the picture from their site after you take the picture it blurs out so they can wait a week to email you back and tell you that your picture wasn't clear enough. By the time your stuff is close enough to actually post the listing online, you have to pay them again. These people are thieves.
Answer: Everyone I contacted wanted me to purchase in full price
