I joined this site a year ago hoping to find work. I've got great experience, awesome references. I need a full time position but the site never allowed me to list full time. I do not believe it's possible to apply for more than 100 jobs and only get two replies, both of which turned out to be scams. One person was a complete fake identity. The other just simply doesn't exist. Not in this realm anyway. Every time I apply for a position new pop ups generate that suggest I do this or that for another fee. I believe the positions posted are fake, generated to fit your interests by the information you give the site when completing your profile.
We signed up for care.com 4 years ago when we were looking for a sitter for our then 8 month old. We used the site for 6 months (never had any luck finding someone through the site) and then cancelled our membership. The company claims we never cancelled our membership - although we stopped receiving emails from them - and we just found out they have been billing us monthly for the last 3 1/2 years - even though there hasn't been ANY activity on the account during the last 3 1/2 years. When we contacted them to get a refund for the THOUSANDS of dollars they collected over the last three years they told us they have a strict policy agains issuing refunds but agreed to give us back three months (unbelievable). When I tried to contact them to complain again they simply ignored my calls and emails - very professional. With all of the fees they have clearly rack up over the years you would think it would be in their interest to refund unsatisfied or deceptively billed clients.
Terrible service, they do not cancel their subscriptions when they are supposed to... Stay away! Awful customer service and they refuse to communicate with their customers. Do NOT buy from them Warning!
Person we hired stole from us. They continued to charge us monthly fees. Contacting them is next to impossible. You would be better off letting you kids watch themselves then trust these guys.
Complete waste of my time. Any function is ridiculous to attempt to use. Scam attempt this past week by a couple of women who offered nice job, very good pay but refused to tell me where the job was. Happily I didn't just hop out of the cabbage patch, got reverse numbers. The only place they could have connected me was care.com. Every time, it could not be more frustrating and time-wasting. Today was memorably ridiculous.
If she comes your way, the name is Elena Chesterfield. Not too clever.
If I could I would award negative stars for the time the customer service wasted. I had an account and was paying a monthly fee... Even though I didn't use it for months. Then when I needed it, I couldn't access my old information and had to resubmit a new payment. So I was being billed twice from Care.com on a recurring basis. When I tried to call and get this straightened out. I got the run around on their customer service- they kept sending me to their FAQ site. I had to wait 30 minutes to talk to a live person... After I left a voicemail. If you ask me, this company is prime for a class action lawsuit.
Yes Care matches up people together on one website and offers background checks on employees. Employers should have background checks as well. I had a very troubling and frightening experience with one very unstable family. There are no resources for those looking for positions and help with this is very hard to find on the website. Be careful.
A potential customer asked to run background check. I accepted and filled out information. Motor vehicle report came and I forwarded to customer. Waited and waited for actual background check. Reached out to care and was informed that I declined the background check. I then inquired if I "declined" who authorized them to run a MVR and how did they obtain my personal information.
Well their response was to remove me from care.com and cancel my membership. Letter stated they could cancel my membership at any time without any reason. I just renewed for 3 months. I get none of my money back. Below is the letter received closing account.

I had a 5 star rating. Was finally getting great jobs. Now this. And sure that won't hurt me at all. Thanks a lot Care.com.
Run Forest Run. Do not use this site.
2/4/17 update I have now been sent a
N email stating that I received a free MVR for up grading my account to premium. Well:
1.). My account was always premium.
2.) It took 5 months to give me my free report.
3.). It took 9 emails to be told this.
4.). It was at the exact same time as client requested background check.
This site is a total ripe off. They want your money. BUT do not rock the boat. And yes they did sent every person that hired me an email that they had canceled my subscription.
I used to love this site, but you all have become very money hungry it seems. I've had a profile as a caregiver, and one as a parent looking for a caregiver. I created my caregiver profile in high school. I was matched with a few families that I worked for full time. I left the site since I had no free time left. After the families moved (military families), I came back on the site to find new families. That's when I noticed all of the new charges, and how other sitters were paying to promote themselves and be at the top of the list. Your experience is what should set you aside from everyone else, not the amount you're willing to pay. Today, I logged in to my account as a parent to find a sitter for this upcoming weekend. I posted a job and received several responses, but when I opened the message you had to pay and upgrade just to read the message, and it blurred out the message. Your pricing is insane. $55 for one month to find a one time sitter? So that's $55, plus what I'll have to pay the sitter. I forgot everyone was made of money these days. I also feel bad for the applicants. It shows them that I have read the message, now they're looking forward to getting a job, probably needing the extra cash, and they have no idea why I haven't responded. When I posted the job, someone from your team even edited my job. They deleted part of a sentence where I asked the applicants to send their email and other contact information once they've applied. They changed the word "first" to "fist", making my sentence read "please fist first before applying". They were so picky that they changed "8 month old" to "8-month-old". You all butchered my entire job listing and it made absolutely no sense. Everything used to be free, have trials, etc., now everything is all about $$$$. Seems legit. After dealing with this mess, I looked in to Sittercity, where I was able to sign up and get a free one month Premium membership, where I am able to contact sitters, reply, run background checks, read references and reviews, etc. I'm just glad I found something that works, very disappointed with you all.
I am a professional housekeeper with over 20 years experience in all aspects of housekeeping. After seeing the tv ads I decided to apply and offer my cleaning services to homeowners in Tucson, AZ.
I filled out all required information and agreed to the background check. I knew I had one (drug) conviction but as it was over 30 years old and I have had no other issues I felt confident I would be okay to find work through care.com.
This was not the case. They informed me as a felon I was not allowed to use their website for work. I explained to them that it was a one time mistake I made at 22 years old and at 53 years old I was not that same person. I also told them it was against the law to use a conviction if it had no bearing on the work being sought.
Their reply" it doesn't matter if it is illegal to discriminate against you. You are a felon and cannot use our service". Several more times I tried to reason with them but I got nowhere.
I understand about being careful who a person hires to work in their homes and I agree. There are many that should not be trusted. I also know that we all make mistakes and hopefully learn from them to become an asset to society.
I can see how a drug felony would not allow person to work in a pharmacy, hospital, etc, but I don't see how cleaning floors, toilets, doing laundry etc has any bearing on a 30 year old drug conviction. I am a solid worker, with an above reproach work ethic, and great verifiable references because I had to EARN IT after making that one mistake.
Given the chance people like me are so grateful to given the opportunity to have a real job we become very loyal, willing to go the extra step, and we understand we have to earn the respect of homeowners.
Care.com abuses the background check, imposes disparate impact by blanket discrimination of any person with any felony history, and they don't care that is illegal and violates the civil rights act of 1964.
Thank you for reading this, I hope it enlightens people no only to RUN AWAY from care.com, but to also give a person a second chance if they are reformed.

Unsafe. *******@aol.com
I joined care.com to find employment as a pet sitter, and things looked promising. After a week I got a text from a woman who was trying to scam me (offering $500 upfront, asking for me to email them my info), I immediately informed Care.com and proceeded to make my phone number private. Less than 24 hours later, I received yet another text with an additional scam. I contacted care.com via the phone number on their website for safety concerns. I even pressed the option for safety, I was on hold for a short amount of time before I was connected with a representative. I asked what potential seekers could see when they looked at my profile, the representative told she did not know and would have someone call me back later. I called the safety concern phone number, and the representative cannot tell me what others can see on my profile, such as my address and how my phone number (after I made it private) was still there. I was extremely unhappy and cancelled my account immediately. I inquired about leaving a review online and was told it was not possible, once I cancelled my account.
DO NOT USE CARE.COM- It is not safe, and they clearly do not care about their caregivers.
care.com has no one to call and they block your account for things that mean nothing. Then they give you no notice when they do it, and cause people to lose potential jobs
I have used care.com for a while now. I found a job on there and have baby sat for a woman and her 2 children a couple of years ago. Left on good terms and I only left because I had found a job with hours that conflicted on when she needed me to watch her children. I didn't use care.com for a little bit BUT I recently moved to a different state and was looking to make extra money so I went back into care.com and updated my info with my new address, work experience, etc. I had messaged a few families and was setting up some interviews when out of no where I get a message from care.com saying I can no longer use them and I am blocked for life. I called and tried to get some answers and all they could tell me is there may or may not have been a reason to block me. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! So they couldn't give me a reason and now it's nearly impossible for me to find babysitting for extra money. Not to mention I've worked at 2 different daycares! I've even worked at one in the state I had recently moved to! I am CPR certified, and have my child abuse and FBI clearances. THEY HAD NO READON TO BLOCK ME! AND CANT EVEN GIVE ME A REASON AS TO WHY!
This company is HORRIBLE and doesn't care about its customers AT ALL!
Care.com scammed us out of $749.85. They are garbage!
We canceled our membership after 2 months and we found out they kept charging our credits card for 15 more months! Our Credit card company is currently investigating them for Fraud. I hope they shut down real soon.
I am a nanny and have used this site to try to find a family to work with. It is of absolutely no value unless you pay and even then it seems to do nothing unless the people you are trying to contact also have paid on their end. Once you give them your email they never stop sending you messages, even when you request that they don't. The customer service is a joke. I'd rather find a job on craigslist than deal with these incompetents. Do yourself a favor and don't even bother!
Their customer service is totally non-existent. Ridiculously poorly managed. Don't expect to ever speak with a real person or have any conflict resolved. Exercise in futility.
Scam, don't use them. The sitter that did call us back was already pissed off at care.com. Paid 39.00 to get some contacts and canceled 2 months later, but did I? GET CHARGed MY CARD. You cannot get a hold of anyone... I may have to cancel my CC.
I am a care giver and I was on care.com and every picture that I submitted to my profile was rejected. It originally stated that I had to submit a picture in uniform because I submitted a picture in regular attire. I did as requested. I sent a head shot pic of me in my scrubs. Again it was rejected saying NO selfies. So I had another person take a picture of me and I submitted the picture in scrubs and by another person in which again my picture was denied against going on my profile saying that in fact again it was a selfie when it was not unless I was whodini and could pull off such trick. I then took it upon myself to view several profiles to get a better idea of the pictures that care.com would approve of. To my surprise there were individuals on there in regular clothes, there were a ton of selfies. So my only conclusion was that I'm an African American female. And I have been in the Healthcare field for over 20 years. I have never had any issues with my attire, behavior, or anything of the such. I keep everything on a professional level on every aspect of life and somehow these people have judged me. I would give a zero if I could but that's not an option. When will things change and people realize that we don't chose the race we are born in. Nobody wants to be judged by a skin color because that's something that can't be changed.
As a mother who cares about the safety of all children I implore you to avoid care.com at all costs. I used them in desperation when I had no one to help with my 3 children while trying to work a full time job. They advertise that they do background checks and you see these raving reviews (that friends and family often write as I was told by one babysitter). In total, I hired 3 babysitters from this service-in the hope that one bad apple was not a reflection of all their advertised help. I had one that left my 11 month old at home and went to get pizza 25 minutes away with my 6 year old-her excuse was that she did not have a car seat. She left the baby sleeping on the floor and when she came back (my daughter reports) that the baby was wondering the house crying. Anything could have happened. There was more than enough food that she had access to. Another one put the baby on the bed and he fell off and hit his head. I wondered where the hematoma on his forehead came from and my daughter is the one to first let me know. The babysitter said she didn't think it was a big deal (this is someone with supposedly 3 years of childcare experience). The others would show up a half an hour to an hour late, have someone call to tell me they were hospitalized or say they didn't have a ride but I would see them at McDonald's. I had to resign before my job fired me. I hold care.com responsible because they are advertising and taking your money for incompetent and unsafe services that could put your children in danger. Please beware.
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
