You do the pre approval they say yes your approved and tell you your limit then you fill out the whole thing upload ur info then selfie then they change it to a secured Mastercard where you have to put the Money on it yourself but still get charged interest. Noooooooo thanks that's why there's a thing called a bank account.
They fail to protect your money even if you work through the case process to get your money back with proof. I am out $123.00, and the seller got their item and my money back, too. The item was a counterfeit item car screen. It was purchased through a link on Instagram. My son purchased it. Weeks later, it didn't come, so I opened a no-receipt claim. A week later, it came to contacted Capital One to change it to a counterfeit item claim. When it arrived, it had Chinese writing all over it so I refused it. I told C1 all of this, but even after the appeal, they gave the seller the funds. Capital One 360 is very untrustworthy and will not protect your money. I would advise anyone to choose another company. Customer support is non-existent and very unhelpful.
Was promised a $200 reward for getting a friend to apply and receive a quicksilver cap one card which she received but never got reward even after talking to a supervisor they said nothing they would do. So my friend cancelled the 29% cc. Terrible service, very disappointing. I'm cancelling my card as well.
Subject: Ongoing Issue with Unauthorized Bank Account on My Capital One Profile
I'm writing to share my concerning experience with Capital One, where I've been a credit card customer for nearly 20 years. I've used the same bank account for payments and had autopay set up for over a decade, primarily using the card for emergencies and to maintain a positive credit score.
Recently, I increased my autopay amount to pay down a larger purchase. Since autopay changes take up to two months to process, my next payment didn't draft as expected. I received a notification and made a one-time payment, assuming it would draw from my only linked bank account. Instead, the payment was withdrawn from an unfamiliar bank account that I did not authorize or recognize.
I immediately contacted Capital One. After several calls with representatives and a supervisor, I learned this unknown account had somehow been listed as my primary payment method. I have only ever had one bank account, and autopay had consistently drafted from it for over a decade. I requested the payment be reversed and submitted a payment from my correct account.
Despite reporting the issue, I've been blamed for the error, with some representatives claiming I must have added the second account myself—an unreasonable assertion since I would need both the routing and account numbers, which I do not have. A supervisor suggested it could be a hacker's tactic to link fraudulent accounts to customer profiles but could not tell me when or how this unauthorized account was added.
It has been nearly a month, and while the incorrect payment has been reversed, my account remains restricted. I'm still being asked to verify the unauthorized account I have repeatedly stated is not mine. Capital One has failed to provide an explanation, acknowledge the potential for a breach, or accept responsibility for the situation.
After 20 years of loyalty, I'm disappointed by this experience. Instead of being recognized for reporting a potential security issue, I've faced blame and poor customer service. I'm now considering paying off my account and closing it, as I expect better support from a company entrusted with my financial information.
Sincerely,
Amanda K
Capital One is substandard. It is an extremely toxic and stressful work environment. The customer service turn over rate is beyond unbelievable. The pay is insulting, hours are not condusive to work life balance. Management are just gloried baby sitters; constantly micromanaging each employee. Human Resource along with the trainers lie to get you to drink the stale kool aid. There is minimal room to advance unless you brown nose or throw someone under the bus.
They make decisions which are irrational and then have front line employees deliver unwelcome news. There are constant system issues and old antiquated system.
There are tons of class action suits due to this company being a greedy, nasty wanna be corporate giant. I wouldn't recommend my worse enemy to apply here.
When you have money and you use 10-40%, Capitol one will be with you and wait for the moment. As soon as I used money from a credit card in the amount of 40-45%, Capitol One business credit card, reduced the credit limit by 55-60%. Reducing my total limit and creating an artificial crisis of the lemite. Very unreliable partner. Returned the money immediately and do not want to deal with them!
O Unfair!
We got a notice from Cap One checking account... which we have had for about 45 years.
It said that there had been suspicious activity on our account. We called. Turns out we had paid our property tax from that account, as we had done many times before. We said it was OK. Paying property tax is a pretty normal activity. The representative said we were all set. All was fine.
Today I got a text from T Mobile, my excellent cell phone service. They said my payment had been rejected because our checking account was FROZEN. That doesn't sound fine... that payment has gone through every month for years. Paying T Mobile after the rejection and having to pay on the phone cost me the regular payment PLUS $20.
I called Cap One. I got a terrible run around. I had to send a picture of my driver's license to prove I am still myself who has had this account and used this account for over 40 years. (We opened this account in 1979 when we moved to Chevy Chase and the bank was called Chevy Chase Savings... bought eventually by this Cap One. Service has never been the same, but we have stuck with them. Apparently a very stupid move on our part.)
Now they tell us, again, all is fine. I have no idea if I should believe them or not. I want to take all our checking and savings and other accounts OUT of that sinister, cheating, incompetent bank. HA! That will cost them.
Avoid them, don't believe them when they say all is OK.
Follow up: I tried to send them an email that I would post this review everywhere I could. Another run around, ending with a representative that claimed he had no record of any of this. Someone is covering their deceitful tracks. Be careful with this bank if you are their customer. They will not give accurate information. And when caught, they'll cover their tracks and say nothing is wrong now. I can't believe them. Money will move.
We have contacted numerous times over the last seven weeks as this began August 25,2024. Scammers were able to change our phone number address and issue themselves new cards through our online banking. Capital one solution was to issue us new cards versus canceling account and canceling all virtual cards. Subsequently the scammers were able to deplete our points and also deplete our entire checking account because our card was connected to our account for easier payment we've had this card for over 20 years and we will be canceling both cards as soon as they unlock our card again even though we've sent in verification and copies of drivers licenses they still have not protected us.
Capital One isn't great helping with disputes, the agents are rude and they don't listen, the6 also closed 2 of my disputes without giving me an update.
I strongly caution against engaging with Capital One, as my experience suggests they operate as a scam company. Be wary of any involvement, as it may result in financial loss and unfavorable outcomes.
I've gotten my money back and that was only way I could go about it. I got help from. (I USED THEIR WEBSITE URL AS MY DISPLAY NAME AND PROFILE PICTURE ON THIS REVIEW INCASE YOU NEED HELP AND WANT TO REACH OUT TO THEM).
Note: I did this because of the strict policy over here and honestly i just want to help as many people as possible to get their money back.
To whom this may concern I have a Walmart credit card through Capital one financial I have been told on numbers of occasions I was sent a letter regarding the replacement card in which I have not received, every time I call, I have been told a different date, However I ask if the letter can be resent this has been refused no letter that I been told was resent on 4 time via email. I get misleading information and excuses regarding the letter concerning the Quick Savor card email me the letter,2 days ago I was told by manager very rude lady, did not get me any updated information in stand No accountability on the behalf of the company, just excuse after excuses. I still have not received any letter but was told if I call again all three of my account would be close. The Manager from Capital One sent a fake letter with Capital One Letter head in which I do not believe it came from Capital. I believe she sent it herself. If it indeed came from capital, I will be taking other and further action. My concern is I don't not believe Capital one will be sending anyone a Walmart replacement card which have a different name due to the changes Walmart discontinued their agreement in a lawsuit against Capital one. But the Customers are being held responsible due to Capital One Does not want to do what should be done is send the replacement Quick salver card. So now I believe Capital One trying to create a narrative and upset customer for asking, calling requesting update on the Quick Saver replacement card that they honesty really do not want to replace. Run fast Capital one operated office and do not stand on business.
I have been a loyal and good customer for years and have several accounts in good standing. One of my credit cards has an interest rate over 26%. I have not charged additional items and paying over the minimum. I've asked the bank to help me with that interest rate and they will not. I am moving all of my accounts to a bank that cares about their customers.
Capitalone did not help me resolve the problem i submited all the evidence i had to capitaone they gave me the credit then took it back,,, i asked for a increse on my credit limit,, i have a job and been with capitalone over 24 years and have a high credit score,, its a horrable company keep turning me down,i just dont trust capitalone, my capitalone credit card will not be in my wallet, i only trust my bank credit card that i will be using for my purchases
CapitalOne credit cards just charged me $46.39 for a late fee and 28% interest, because I paid the bill ($239.00) on the day it was due, but it was after 8:00 PM. $46.39 on something I bought for $239.00. They are disgustingly GREEDY. I would not recommend CapitalOne to anybody. As you can see from this site, Out of a possible 5 stars, they got a rating of 1.15 stars. This is not the first time this has happened. When I called to ask for a refund, I honestly could not understand the man on the telephone. They would not refund the $46.39. I had 2 of their credit cards. I canceled both.
Capital One is by far the worst credit card/ bank I have ever dealt with. I have Wells Fargo, Citi, Chase, Discover, Synchrony, American Express, Bank of America, Best Buy, BMO, Home Depot, Lowes, JC Penny, Target, and US Bank and have never experienced anything like the treatment from Capital One.
About 15 years ago I had a credit card dispute in which a company shipped me the incorrect part for my car then told me they did not in fact have the correct part for my car and charged me a 30% restocking fee for returning the item despite it being their mistake. I opened a dispute with Capital One, and eventually, Capital One ruled in the companies favor and told me to pay the 30% restocking fee. Zero customer service, the lady on the phone yelled at me and hung up.
Now, just today, I looked at my savings account and noticed I received a $300 bonus for opening my new account and making a $50,000 deposit. Not the $750 bonus that was promised to me when I opened the account. I made the $50,000 deposit and left it in the account over 90 days as the terms stated, but I didn't get what I was told. So I called. Apparently, somewhere in the fine print it states that you must maintain the $50,000 balance for 90 days passed some magical 15-day funding period, so basically, it's 105 days, not 90 as stated. My balance went to $49,911 on the 104th day after the $50,000 was deposited, so I fell into the tier that receives a $300 bonus, not a $750 bonus. I lost $450 of bonus money by just ONE day and less than $100 under the correct balance, and they wouldn't budge.
I closed mine and my wife's checking, savings, and credit cards on the spot. I will absolutely NEVER deal with this company again.
A fraud of almost 900 dollars was put on my credit card and because criminals also had my email address I am being made to pay for it by capital one. Don't ever use this company.
This credit card company is the absolute worst.
They alerted me of a fraudulent charge which was great.
They then froze the account and said they were sending me a new card after I went through their verification process, which I did. That was on July 17th
I was supposed to get my new card with the new account # in 2 days which I didn't.
I did a follow-up call a week later to find out where the new card was & I found out that they never sent it & I would have to go through the whole verification process again. WTF I am not going through this again. I said screw it the bill each month finds me I gave you all the info and I can't give you the 3 digit security code if I don't have the new card. So I hung up.
I called again today same BS I informed a supervisor by the name of Irving ( a phillipino with the name Irving right). I went over very thing even read off the bill that I just received in the mail today 07/29/2024. He wants the whole security process again. I told him I have been a customer for over 30 years and I am not giving out my cell number again and if you can't send me a new card that I just verified everything on the new bill you can cancel my account after you take off all the points that I have accumulated.
I was told that can take up to 60 days to clear.
I told I am just paying what is owed after the point credit so don't give me that BS I have done it many times.
I told Irving that he can have fun explaining how he lost a customer of over 30 + years to the CEO after I contact him. So just cancel my account and never ever contact me again.
Tried to open a 11 month CD today call CUSTOMER CIRCUS to get answers and help with online forms.
End up in Philippines The woman I spoke with could hardly speak english or answer questions had to keep repeating myself. Kept using the excuse she had a bad connection. Asked to get transferred to supervisor get transferred after 7 min. To Maryland which asked after 5 min on phone got disconnected by them. Stay away total incompetence in this company.
I am so disappointed in the service by Capital One! There was a dispute with another company who withdrew money from our account. Capital one has been working on this and we have using our credit card with the extra security tip given by Capital One! After two weeks of using the card after the dispute, I went to the grocery store to buy groceries for my kids and the card was declined! I call
Capital One and they say because of the dispute they cancelled my card without intimating me! This is not
Acceptable! They say I will receive the card in 10'days! I appreciate them giving me a new card but not cancelling the old one without any intimation!
After being accepted for a credit card, with a $30k limit, I used it to charge for about a month. No problems. Booked tickets and traveled to a foreign country. Again no problems... For a few days. Then it stopped working. No notice, just stopped. App and account just showed "restricted." Called to get the restriction lifted, thinking they'd flagged a foreign charge as fraud (with no way to tell them I'm traveling, they claim it's unnecessary), and they want: copies of passport, birth certificate, SSN card, utility bill, and more, all while I'm traveling. Non-negotiable; they cannot accept anything except all those documents. Capital One was perfectly happy to strand me in a foreign country with no credit card, despite having worked and processed charges for over a month, and several days of traveling. DO NOT USE.
If I could give them negative stars I would! If you're a veteran I highly advise you to look elsewhere! Go to Navy Federal or USAA and don't look back! I have recorded calls asking them if they accept certain forms of payment because the language in the credit card contract was ambiguous. They assured me it was ok to try to use the form of payment that I asked them about and when I did it they restricted my account and cut off my cards without even warning or calling me and right when I needed them most. They even rejected me after I called promptly to rectify the problem. Luckily I have American Express or my car repairs would have came straight out of my own pocket. Don't use any services offered by these people! Again if you're a veteran stick to Navy Federal, USAA, PenFed! They'll give you higher credit lines and they actually respect you! If you're not military then go to Sam's Club and apply for their master card! Another non military option is the Upgrade credit card. They each have higher limits and they don't cut your card off without speaking to you to rectify the issue! Capital One is not reliable and how they treat their customers should be illegal.
Answer: No really I can't I mean from the very beginning they said they mailed it and then a week later when I called and they had not mailed it yet when I checked my bank they take the money out of my bank and then tell me they're going to hold the money for 7 days to make sure the money is there I think they take the customers for granted in a big bad way
Answer: From my experience, they appear to be nothing but a shady scam bank.
Answer: They offered nice rewards back It sounded more impressive than it is. Big mistake.
Answer: This is the same issue I'm having with Capital One. They make mistakes and then drag their feet and act like nothing is wrong.
