This is our first and last experience with Capital One. CUSTOMER BEWARE. We have an excellent credit history and were approved for very low credit limit. During the holidays we meet that so paid the statement balance two weeks early to avoid issues with direct billing. Capital One says payment will be processed within three business days. Payment cleared our bank the following day but our direct payments are being declined. Thirty five minutes on the phone with customer service and we are told they won't process any transactions until 8 days after they have withdrawn the funds from our account. Even spoke to a manager and told simply that is just the way it is. Apparently customers who have excellent credit and pay full statement balance is not what they want. The absolute worse customer service I have ever received from a credit card company.
It's absolutely ridiculous how they will flag your account as having "suspicious activity" but when asked what was suspicious about the activity they say there is no specific thing they look for. Was literally on the phone for 25 min while in line at the store and was asked maybe 30 different questions. Ask to send in my ID and a whole mess of other things and the purchase was only 75 dollars like come on do better! I would not recommend them to anyone.
Have 3 cards with them. I get a email to apply for business card. I did ask my annual sales I listed it. Card approved. Next thing I know ALL my account frozen for fraud investigation. Asked to see my bank statements for annual sales and I provided same day. Called some rude foreign customer service. Who would not help me and told me 10 business days they will respond. Ask to speak to her boss she said she is the boss. I been with this Mickey Mouse company 5 years not 1 late payment. Will be move along very soon.
Military members beware that capital one may "seem" to offer lower interest rates for military, but I was given a 15.9% interest rate with a credit score of over 800 for a 6 year loan. Customer service would not help me whatsoever, do not use them, you will be killing yourself trying to pay interest off and barely paying the loan itself.
Capital One decided to cancel my credit card immediately and without warning. When I called customer service to ask what happened, they said that they had to cancel my credit card simply because I was, "paying it in full on time every month, and this is not helpful". So basically, being financially responsible and being dependable with timely payments isn't allowing them to charge exorbitant interest rates of 24.99%, and in my case, it is hurting their bottom line. When I asked what I could do to fix the situation, their advise was for me to take my business elsewhere. As soon as my final payment clears, I will be going to a different bank for a credit card.
I actually mostly like Capital One except for the fact that any time you make a payment of more than a couple hundred dollars they put an eight-day hold on your credit. The money will be gone from your bank account so you're in limbo and just screwed.
When they say no fee at the ATM there full of $#*!. Yes they offer no fees but if you have simply checking that doesn't apply it's only for 360 account customers.so if you have simply checking you're nothing but chop meat. And my closest branch is 35 miles 1 way because they shut down every branch in my immediate area. If you make the futile attempt to speak to anyone at a branch office good luck with that. Because they never pick up. Find yourself a bank that actually appreciates having you as a customer
So with my finances I needed a quick help hand. Fortunately, I found so many useful articles on this platform that gave advice on how to find new ways to make extra money during challenging times quickly and relevantly.
They issue me a credit card and then put 5 day holds on my payments which effectively renders the card useless half the time because I can't charge anything even though I have a zero balance! And I can't get anyone on the phone to fix the situation. I'm going to switch to a new financial institution in the very near future that's run more professionally.
They don't charge you if you never add money to your account. I always get early direct deposit and they said bc of Holliday (New Years) I won't get it til maybe Monday! That's almost a whole extra week and not even the accurate date bc they don't know. My coworkers got theirs but of course not this bank. The representatives talk over you and when they hear any back round noise they say" your call is being recorded" like damn my son is asking me a question! Then the representative said I answered your questions anything else? Like no you didn't answer my questions. Also I ordered a new debit card about a few weeks ago and I didn't cancel it just wanted a new one and they cancel my account til I receive my new one. They did it twice this month where I basically have no way to use my money. Christmas draining my account and relying on my pay day and now they don't know when I will get paid. Thanks for absolutely nothing and being inconsiderate
I have been a loyal and good customer for years and have several accounts in good standing. One of my credit cards has an interest rate over 26%. I have not charged additional items and paying over the minimum. I've asked the bank to help me with that interest rate and they will not. I am moving all of my accounts to a bank that cares about their customers.
O Unfair!
We got a notice from Cap One checking account... which we have had for about 45 years.
It said that there had been suspicious activity on our account. We called. Turns out we had paid our property tax from that account, as we had done many times before. We said it was OK. Paying property tax is a pretty normal activity. The representative said we were all set. All was fine.
Today I got a text from T Mobile, my excellent cell phone service. They said my payment had been rejected because our checking account was FROZEN. That doesn't sound fine... that payment has gone through every month for years. Paying T Mobile after the rejection and having to pay on the phone cost me the regular payment PLUS $20.
I called Cap One. I got a terrible run around. I had to send a picture of my driver's license to prove I am still myself who has had this account and used this account for over 40 years. (We opened this account in 1979 when we moved to Chevy Chase and the bank was called Chevy Chase Savings... bought eventually by this Cap One. Service has never been the same, but we have stuck with them. Apparently a very stupid move on our part.)
Now they tell us, again, all is fine. I have no idea if I should believe them or not. I want to take all our checking and savings and other accounts OUT of that sinister, cheating, incompetent bank. HA! That will cost them.
Avoid them, don't believe them when they say all is OK.
Follow up: I tried to send them an email that I would post this review everywhere I could. Another run around, ending with a representative that claimed he had no record of any of this. Someone is covering their deceitful tracks. Be careful with this bank if you are their customer. They will not give accurate information. And when caught, they'll cover their tracks and say nothing is wrong now. I can't believe them. Money will move.
I don't think it's asking too much of a credit card company to have online chats available for customer service. First of all, you don't have to confirm your identity because you logged in. Second, you don't have to go through telephone torture. Third, if this is Capital One's way of saving money, it would be akin to a bottled water company saving money by bottling fresh toilet water. If I'm banking online, then I expect to find online employees to chat with. For all I care, Capital One's inhuman chat bot named Eno needs to die. I think he's already sick with a virus. You know, a computer virus. Because every time I ask him for help, he gives me a "Contact us" link that lists a bunch of phone numbers. What is this, "Little House on the Prairie"? Phone calls are so yesterday. I'm not going to call. I'll write them a letter and send it to them by boat over the ocean. That would probably be more effective, since it's obvious that no one's home.
So, I opened a Capital One 360 Checking Account with the promise that I'd be given $350 after switching over my direct deposits. I think you were supposed to have over X dollars direct deposited on two consecutive months. Upon opening the account, I immediately had my direct deposit rerouted from my bank to Capital One. Unfortunately, it took a month too long for my payer to get with the program, and Capital One stiffed me. What else could I do but put in the request the same day I opened the account?! I bet Capital One knew that many people would struggle to get their direct deposits rerouted that soon. Shame on them. And then the [bleep] on the phone was really mean to me and told me that I "didn't qualify" for the $350. I told him to close my account, and he did; but then I realized that I should reroute my direct deposit AGAIN before closing the account, so I asked him to NOT close the account.
"I already closed it!"
"Well, unclose it! You just read something that said you can unclose it!"
"I didn't say I could unclose it! I said... uh... that you could still access the account for a while. Yeah. That's what I said."
"But how will I get my direct deposit next month?"
"Who cares? You just ordered me to close your account."
"No big deal," I said. "I don't really need that income anyway. I mean, really, who needs to get paid, am I right?"
"I suggest that you contact your payer as soon as possible, ma'am."
"Well, DUH!" I yelled.
He seemed stupefied. (I don't think it took much.) "What... what do you mean?" he asked.
"What do you think I'm going to do as soon as I get off the phone?! I don't want to deal with misrouted income!"
"I don't like your attitude," he said.
"Good! Go [bleep] yourself."
"Well! I never!"
"Figures! Give it a try."
Click.
I immediately logged in and canceled the transfer of my balance to my other bank. Now they can't close my account because they still have my money. I mean, they can try. Good thing my parents are both lawyers.
Was I mean to him? [Bleep] yes. I jumped through hoops to reroute my direct deposit, and I got nothing for it. Nothing. After I get my money in order and close this account, I'll never do business with Capital One again.
Cancelled card no warning, as they are getting out of Canada, same high interest rate with zero benefits. They won't let you transfer the balance to another card either. Customer service is terrible if you ask a question they don't know the answer to they pretend they cant hear you and hang up. They will report missed payments that are actually paid and force the run around on you to get to fix your credit yourself. Stick to Canadian banks American banks are pure $#*! and don't seem to follow our laws.
I have applied on line for a credit card from Capital One on their website and immediately after I have start receiving text messages, phone calls and emails from a lot of different people, companies or sites. Be careful people, they are selling your informations or their site is hacked. I have tried to speak with someone from fraud department who definitely was someone from India or somewhere in SE Asia who asked me to apply for their Identity protection membership! Be aware when you apply for their services!
I really wish I could get away from this bank it was better as ING. I receive disability and my account although they honor the drafts this is the results of not having enough money and banking. I've been giving it up like this for years. I'm so done.
I strongly caution against engaging with Capital One, as my experience suggests they operate as a scam company. Be wary of any involvement, as it may result in financial loss and unfavorable outcomes.
I've gotten my money back and that was only way I could go about it. I got help from. (I USED THEIR WEBSITE URL AS MY DISPLAY NAME AND PROFILE PICTURE ON THIS REVIEW INCASE YOU NEED HELP AND WANT TO REACH OUT TO THEM).
Note: I did this because of the strict policy over here and honestly i just want to help as many people as possible to get their money back.
Capital One has to be one of the most unhelpful banks I have ever dealt with and I have other banks I bank with as well. Their mobile deposits serve no purpose because it NEVER seems to capture pictures correctly for deposits. They'll hold a check longer than the actually day they "say" they will. Deposited a check and they're holding it for almost 5 days due to a holiday. After it said it would be available the same day. (A payroll check I deposit every other Friday) Customer service serves no purpose because they never seem to be able to help/assist with ANYTHING! Let's not get me started on their credit cards. I'm closing out my debit cards and I'm going to do the same with my credit cards. I'll just have to take a hit on my credit score. Because Capital One ain't it and it becomes very stressful/frustrating being a customer for over 10 years having to deal with poor customer service. It's not worth my sanity or peace
I have 2 accounts with capital one for about 6 months, one secured and another is not secured. I have been takin care in order to fix and improve my credit. But today I entered to the app and surprise, they both were closed. They did it the same day I pay the monthly payment.
The reason, nobody had been able to explained to me. I just regret being trusting to this company.
I had a purchase return of $2,700 credited to my account 2 weeks before the payment due date. They refused to deduct the credit from my payment and told me I would have to wait until the next billing cycle. This is illegal according to consumer banking regulations.
Answer: No really I can't I mean from the very beginning they said they mailed it and then a week later when I called and they had not mailed it yet when I checked my bank they take the money out of my bank and then tell me they're going to hold the money for 7 days to make sure the money is there I think they take the customers for granted in a big bad way
Answer: From my experience, they appear to be nothing but a shady scam bank.
Answer: They offered nice rewards back It sounded more impressive than it is. Big mistake.
Answer: This is the same issue I'm having with Capital One. They make mistakes and then drag their feet and act like nothing is wrong.
