Likely a scam

Paid $263 through website, arrived at hotel to find booking not there. Had to then pay a hotel a couple of hundred dollars to secure a room with them. Now Cancelon will not reply to my emails, answer phone, etc to even discuss getting a refund from them.

Booked our trip to the Oregon coast with CancelOn. Found out at the last motel we stayed at that CancelOn charged us $160 more than if we had called the motel itself. When I called to find out why, the lady I talked to said it was probably the cost when I booked the rooms. I told her it was memorial weekend and if the motel changed the cost of the rooms it definitely would not have gone down. I think they are scam artists. Sad thing is is that Tripadvisor is with them I will never book online again. My advise... Stay away from CancelOn and Tripadvisor. Call the motel itself, you'll get better deals. I've learned my lesson. I would be happy if I could get some money refunded but know CanceOn will not take responsibility for there actions.

Scam
September 25, 2019

They charged me for 3 nights hotel in New York. When i went to check in the hotel didn't know anything about the cancelon or the reservation. Dont trust cancelon they will scam you and you will have hard time to get your money back.

I work at a hotel, and have seen firsthand guests who thought they booked a room with us, and we never actually sold or confirmed a room with them. Cancelon gets rooms from very suspicious sources and resells them to customers... Then they try to get a confirmation from the hotel... only after they have taken the guests money. They string guests along, telling them to wait for the actual confirmation from the hotel... and then when its too late to get a refund and/or cancel, the guests are stuck! Always book directly with the hotel! Yes, the deals are too good to be true. Book direct, don't risk your vacation!

Stay away from CancelOn!

We booked through TripAdvisor and received a confirmation email from both TA and CancelOn. When we arrived at the hotel, we found no reservation was ever made. I contacted CancelOn by phone immediately to let them know and request a refund for the hotel. They assured me they would refund the amount I paid. A week later, I heard nothing with no refund. I called again, only to receive the same response. This time I requested their Manager and an email that we spoke and the terms they agreed. Now, three weeks later, no email, no call, and no refund.

Looking at their complaints on BBB, I am now not surprised by their behavior. I am disappointed TripAdvisor allows this company as a third party partner.

So far, so good...

After reading some of the not so flattering reviews, after I made a reservation with CancelOn, I started freaking so I sent a message to their customer service letting them know I was concerned.

They replied with assurances that my reservation was confirmed, and said to call the property directly to check, which i just did. Reservation agent at the property confirmed my reservation and requests so so far, so good.

Not sure why others are having issues but may be unique to each hotel but I am looking forward to a nice vacation in Lake Tahoe.

Although this is a different way to get a deal, I am not seeing a problem with just following the directions on CancelOn's reservation page.

Never use this company

I booked a four night stay with them. They charged my credit card within minutes. Then, within an hour, because of an unavoidable conflict I asked them to change the arrival night by one day. They said that their travel partner would contact the hotel to make the change. I waited a week and heard nothing. I contacted the hotel. The hotel said it should be no problem, as they had plenty of rooms, but that they could not change it unless Cancelon or the travel partner who made the reservation contacted them. After another week, I called the hotel again and they said they still had not heard from Cancelon or anyone else. Finally, Cancelon contacted me to say they had tried but the hotel said no. I again contacted the hotel and they said no one had ever contacted them. Never use this company. They will take your money, then tell you one thing and then do another.

I cancel my order to Disney World hotel concerning the declaration of public health emergency in Florida, the increasing coronavirus cases in Florida. United airline sent me email saying any cancellation without charge on March because of the coronavirus. It's not my personal reason to cancel this order, it's because of the coronavirus spreading in Florida. But the manger in Cancelon refused to give me full refund! How can I order my future trip on this website again? Very bad experience!

Had to cancel a trip with my mother who is in her 70's. Her Doctor advised her to cancel because of risks of traveling with the corona virus. They charged me 10% to cancel, wouldn't waive the fee. Said they would waive the fee for the same reason if we were going to Italy or China. Well it's here too! DO NOT USE. I booked through Travelocity and they sent me to this site so don't use them either! Awful customer service and they don't answer the phone for hours!

I am extremely disappointed in the service I have received from Cancelon. I booked a hotel one year ago and paid in full and got a confirmation email. Last week, I called the hotel directly just to confirm my reservation and it turned out that I had no reservation and the hotel was completely booked. Cancelon never once contacted me regarding this. So had I not called the hotel, I would have shown up and had no where to stay. I am now two weeks out from leaving and I have no where to stay, unless I want to spend twice as much as I originally did. Cancelon never offered to help me find a new hotel, never offered to cover the excess cost due to their mistake, and have now stopped replying to my emails. This customer service is completely unacceptable and I will never be using Cancelon again!

Updated review

This is the update to my previous review "5 phone calls to straighten things out and I think we're ok now" After writing that review I did end up calling a few more times to be sure they got me the Sea View room I purchased and not the Garden View room the resort was telling me I was booked for. Two days before the trip I called the resort and confirmed I had a sea view room!

When we got to the resort everything went smooth and our room was great.

In summary CancelOn gets 3 stars. I got what I paid for but it took some extra effort on my part to be sure of it.

I made a reservation on 1/17 and promptly received a confirmation. On 1/30 I called the resort to confirm my reservation and they could not find it. I called Cancelon and spoke with Peter who said the confirmation number I received was Cancelon's and not the resort's. He said I would receive the resort's confirmation number a day before check-in. This scared me and after some discussion he said I would get it in 48 hours.

I then went online and saw a lot of scary reviews and started panicking a little. This morning 1/31 I called Cancelon and Barry answered. I explained my fears based on bad reviews and quoted their website's "Buyer Protection" section in regards to refunds if not confirmed within 48 hours (https://www.cancelon.com/page/buyer-protection).

Barry said sometimes these things can take a week and I interrupted that I cannot wait any longer and needed to get a confirmation number now. He placed me on hold for about 5 minutes and came back with a new confirmation number. He said if I called the resort and they didn't recognize that number I should mention the person's name he had spoken with. I thanked him, called the resort, and confirmed I was in their system. Note: They did not recognize any confirmation numbers Cancelon had provided to me thus far and were kind enough to provide me their own "internal confirmation number". I thanked her and asked her to confirm details about my room. Then two new problems arose: 1. She said they had not yet received payment but not to worry because the travel agency (she assumed my scenario involved one) would be paying that before my arrival. She was really confident about this so I didn't stress it. HOWEVER #2. She said I was booked for a "Garden View" when I had actually booked a "Sea View". This bothered me because the price difference between the two rooms was considerable and the only reason I had used Cancelon was because they could offer the "Sea View" at the "Garden View" pricing.

I called back to Cancelon and let Justin know I had just been working with Barry. He transferred me. I thanked Barry for his success thus far and introduced our new problem. He placed me on hold and contacted his team leader. He came back minutes later telling me I don't have to worry and that his representatives will get this problem solved within 48 hours and I will see a new confirmation number.

They messed up my plan. I booked the hotel with cancelon, I called hotel few days later the reservation number cancelon sold to me not valid. They refused the request for refund. They tried to provide me with alternative which is worst than my original hotel. 3 days before my flight, no hotel. Mess up

Horrible!

These people are a huge scam, they have false information on their site. Please be careful before booking on their site. I decide to go with their deal because it included breakfast with the price, I thought it was a great deal. I did check other websites and their deals were a few bucks cheaper but decided to go with Cancelon since they included breakfast to their price. After I booked and received the voucher, I notice there was no free breakfast included so I called them and asked them to explain why the website said breakfast included. He said he couldn't do anything about it, that he MIGHT be able to price match if I find a cheaper hotel. Waste of my time! Don't waste your time with these people.

Wife and I were quite worried especially after reading some of the bad reviews.
It took a few days but we got a confirmation number from them and then called the resort directly. Everything was done and all set.
I saved a bunch of money and got the room I wanted in the resort in Jamaica I wanted!

Disgusing - PLEASE AVOID!

After making a reservation In London for my anniversary Cancelon Charged my card and emailed me saying confirmation will follow shortly. I then got an email asking for additional verification details which I sent striaght away.

After 12 hours of waiting I still did not hear back from them so decided to contact them which they informed me that their manager didn't approve this transaction and a refund will take 10 days to show up in my account.

I spoke to the manager called Ben who was as useful as an icecube in Antarctica-

Please avoid!

(Booking number: *******) I booked a hotel for 3 nights in Europe through TRIPADVISOR and then got an email confirmation for my booking from "Cancelon". This is not who I was originally booking through, so why am I receiving email confirmation from this website I have never heard about?! I called customer service and they stated that they could not give me a full refund and that they will be charging me a $51 convenience charge that they apparently had to pay TripAdvisor?!?! I had only booked 5 minutes before calling Cancelon's customer service to cancel. They also stated it would take 10 days to get my money back! What a joke, I would never ever use this company! Horrible Customer Service! I want a refund for my whole booking! I want my $51 back!
