I have been attempting to get a refund for my order for almost a month. The website does not list shipping dates clearly. I never received my order, so I asked for a refund. An employee told me it would be refunded. 5 emails and several weeks later, no refund! No estimated refund date! I will have to open an investigation through my bank to get my money back. Steer clear.
Ordered 24 Candybox Impatiens plants. FINALLY received them last week and what a HUGE disappointment. These plants are MINISCULE …. Not sure just what I'm going to do outside of putting them in pots so they can mature. By then it'll be the end of June. I don't know if I'm more disgusted with myself in ordering these or in trusting Burpee. There's nothing special about this particular "mix". I've purchased the same color combination at my local greenhouse for plants 4x the size of these and for far less money. Not even sure they'll survive. I could have purchased two full flats for what I have in these. Never again will I order from Burpee. You guys pretty much suck.
Awful! I ordered 9 live plants at the beginning of March, knowing that they would not ship until my zone 5 opened, which is mid-May. After Memorial Day, I still had no plants, and nothing from the company stating my order was almost ready. Or had shipped. It is currently almost the second week in June and I still have no plants, and my order still says "In Processing." I live in a zone where it is a short growing season, and missing out on these first few weeks is actually crucial to how my garden will perform. Also, all of my local nurseries are sold out of the plants I need, so I don't even really have the option of just canceling. This is so unacceptable.
I have growing tomatoes for 15 yrs; from store bought seed, harvested seed and store bought seedlings. I have 3 Burpee plants that went into fertilized soil@ 5/10.
To date I have a total of 9 potential tomatoes none yet harvested. The yield appears to be much much lower than any I have experienced. Lesson learned don't buy Burpee
I've been issued a refund on my order but I just want to express how disappointed I am with trying to do business with Burpee. I ordered 3 bare root roses and two rose plants. The plants I received looked like somebody dug them up from the bottom of a barrel and decided to send them to me in spite of the fact they looked so pathetic. This is the first time I've ordered by mail like this so I called when I received them and explained how they looked dead and were black in color. I was told to plant them and see how they look in a couple of weeks. Two weeks later one of the bare root plants has a few little leaves coming from one spot that wasn't black. The rest of the plants are totally black and dead looking. I thought this might be a good way to get nice plants from a reputable source. I'm totally disappointed.
Burpee uses massive amounts of rigid plastic to ship plants. Other vendors avoid plastic and the plants arrive in good shape. I will not purchase plants from Burpee until they replace their plastic shipping material.
I recently ordered watermelon coleus from Burpee.com. These are supposed to be lime green and pink in color. They are a darker green and red. I ordered from burpee b/c I couldn't find this variety locally. I left an honest review stating just this…healthy plants but wrong color and not like the pictures. They have refused to publish the review. There was no foul language or anything else…just an honest review that they refuse to publish. This seems sketchy and dishonest.
I have called and spoken to a CS rep and they are supposed to look in to why the colors are different, possibly a refund, and the refusal to publish the review. Will update if there is any resolution.
Purchased the above plants and they were shipped to me with buds on them so I know they were healthy. Followed planting directions and they are growing nicely. Thank you Burpee!
Placed an order for 15 plants in March. Order was scheduled to ship according to my zone. Shipped late and was missing one plant with four additional dead/dying plants. Called for a replacement/refund and the system was down so I was supposed to receive a call back. Never did and had to call back myself. I had to submit photos of the plants and still didn't hear back. Called again and ordered replacement plants, although I couldn't get the same plants because they were out of stock. Over 3 weeks later I called again to see when or if the plants had shipped. Was told that they would ship the week of June 6th. I asked for a refund instead because it was past time to plant the garden. I am now waiting for the refund and will dispute with my bank if I don't receive it soon.
I would give them 0 stars if I could, they get my orders wrong, don't have a record of my orders not even on the website when you look under "my orders", they don't send out a confirmation email of what the order is and then have to wait on the phone for 1/2 to one hour to speak to someone when the order does not come. Don't rely on them to call you back it you leave a message! And to add insult to injury, I am calling them due to their error! I will never order from them again. What a waste of time! Denise
Very poor germination for the Tomato seeds that I ordered and the Peppers never germinated. The seeds from Ferry Morse all came up! No more Burpee for me, this isn't the first problem that I've had and they are over priced anyway.
Tomato and chili seeds were a waste of time and money, only 10% or less germinated, i expected more from Burpee but i won't make that mistake again.
Yes they have a great web site, and pretty color catalogs, BUT i want seeds that germinate
I like burpees planting Nursery I'm a good customer with them. But trying to call them is impossible and that's the worst customer service I've ever experienced with them my recommendation is do not buy from them anymore if they cannot answer their phones. 5 called them 10 to 20 times this Spring to have some help and they don't answer their phones at all worse customer service I've ever experienced. If they want to have customers than they better start answering their phones or they need a shutdown.
I planted Nantes carrot seeds and about half seemed to go to bolt way too soon. I pulled the plants that bolted and found it was cilantro. The leaves are way too small to even use. I'm disappointed. I think I may find other seeds for my veggie garden.
I was excited to get my herbal garden seeds but when I got home and a few days later when I was ready to start to get the germination going I was reading the label and it said *not for human consumption * this is on basil, cilantro and lavender. Now I'm worried if I feed my family these are we going to get sick?
I have ordered with burpee on 3 separate occasions. The first time the starters arrived very delayed. I tried to get in touch with them on separate occasions and was only told they ship in zones. I ordered 3 months prior to zone shipping but gave them the benefit of the doubt that it was my fault. Thankfully the plants looked beautiful when they arrived and were very fruit full.
Second order, again delayed but this time half the plants were not salvageable and the others did not produce.
Third and final order was for 3 different types of garlic. Again took over 2 months for them to arrive without any form of communication from them. On arrival I received one package of garlic and it wasn't even the correct kind. Currently am still waiting for them to respond to my complaint.
It is only the end of April and Burpee seed company is already out of 8 of the 11 seed products I wanted to buy. Must be really poor planning on their part to already be out long berfore the planting season in Wisconsin even begins.
Orders take about a month to get to you. They blame the mail but no other seed company or anything else for the matter I get in the mail has this problem…hummm
I know they have been slow about because of the corona virus but I also know they are still shipping to the big box stores! I order flowers on April 6th 2020 and they said on their web page the plants should ship on April 23rd and here it is in the middle of may and I have not received the flowers yet. I have emailed several times and they say that they will answer emails but to this day I have not received and replies to my emails. All I ask is that they answer emails and let people know that the orders are happening. I want the flowers I ordered so I can put them in the ground and enjoy them. If they are not going to come to me they should at least let someone know they are not coming and give us the money back. Then at least I can order them from some other company who cares about their customers. I will never buy from them again and will go out of my way to buy from others instead of this company!
I bought Provider Bush beans and mixed in with my planted bed there is a climber vine of a flat bean! It must have been mixed in with the Provider beans, AND I ordered 3 sweet (Good as Gold, Golden Baby Belle & Tangerine Dream) lunch box type peppers, one packet didn't germinate and another is red hot peppers! I won't be buying from them again.
Answer: Impossible. They're not accepting calls or answering emails. I know these are hard times but...
Answer: I ordered my seeds over a month ago. Still have not received them. I've contacted them twice and they've been very rude and not helpful.
