I spoke with a customer service representative and specified that I wanted ONLY my domain name renewed, for a total charge of $21.99. I also specified that I did NOT want the other services renewed, including WordPress Basic Hosting and Domain Privacy/Protection. (No web site exists; the domain name is a placeholder for a future web site.) The rep assured me that auto-renewal was not active for the services I did NOT want. 14 hours later, I was charged for these services--$375. Two phone calls to Bluehost were ineffective--"Upon further checking, the charge is already outside refund policy." I called 16 hours after the charge went through. This is "outside refund policy"? The rep advised me to call my credit card company and have the charge removed.
I view this as unprofessional at best, and unethical at worst. It seems this company does not care about satisfied customers. Needless to say, I will never work with Bluehost again. I find this "policy" shocking, so I'm writing this to warn others.
Hope you find the comments useful. The best of success to all your web sites!
I like having all my WordPress websites on one portal
You've been $#*!ing charging me for years for services I don't even use and didn't sign up for you $#*!ing scam artist of a company! I don't even have a god damn website built yet!
Everything is working out ok so far, just having one issue with trying to get help with adding a business debit card to buy a premium plug-in. Called five different persons and no one has been able to help.
I've used Bluehost for more than a decade. Customer service continues to decline and the user experience and performance continue to degrade. I'm continuing to move more and more off the platform to other options.
My experience with BlueHost has been so hit or miss. And even more unfortunate I have put way too many hours and money into switching platforms at the moment. Half the time the website is down for maitnence or there is some huge issue with accessing my website. It's been an okay experience but I'd really hope for higher quality. The speed of uploading photos, editing templates, or using anything within website building feel prehistoric. I'm not usually a negative Nancy but I always seem to have an issue.
Lousy at email and you locked me out of my website. Your core business sucks
I have reached out to customer support twice now and my issues have not been resolved and now my account is all messed up. This has not been a positive experience at all so far.
My account has been hacked, blue host didn't have the backups that they offered, now I cannot get into my account from different locations in the world. I'm changing to another host but I have to wait 60 days to get the code. It's a mess
It has become extremely difficult to navigate to my server's file manager and impossible to do so without the nag screens to purchase more services. I am seriously considering transfering my account to Amazon Cloud Services because of these issues.
Everything has been most helpful except the early payment.
Totally unresponsive and am moving site to Nexcess, never use bluehost again, and I've been with them for almost 15 years. Oh well...
Was locked out of my account for "fraud" over a week for an id you already had on file. It took at least 10 phone calls to be resolved.
Every time I log in to my hosting account, this HUGE ad image appears, more than covering the whole screen. I have to scroll the page in order to click the "no thanks" link! Every time! I mentioned this to customer service on the chat twice already.
I can't figure out how to connect my domain so that I can create a website in wordpress. I upgraded my hosting package to allow me to host 2 websites. It should not be difficult to figure this out! I should not need to contact support!
Some of these things are a little confusing for a newbe but I am learning.
Phone customer support is the worse. I have to go through long menus of options before I could talk with someone. And now I've been waiting 8 minutes for someone to pick up.
My site has been down for months and I've contacted support 3-4 times and it is not resolved.
I have always got the support i have needed at the time.
Good strong service with plenty of opportunity to add more.
Answer: NO - please do not go with Bluehost, it will save you a lot of hassle. They have the worst customer service and take your accounts offline just so you upgrade for more money even though the thresholds were not met. This means they are just running a scam by taking your websites offline and then offering the solution to get them back online by paying more money to them. My websites were down for 6 days and I've lost hundreds of dollars in income, have to pay my developers for all the work they did and NONE of it will be refunded by Bluehost. I migrated everything away from them and they do not even want to refund my sign-up costs. It is a total scam run but incapable and money-grabbing people whereas the CEO of Endurance group Jeff Fox made $10.000.000 in 2019 alone and the CEO of Bluehost Suhaib Zaheer $2.300.000. Be aware you do not get scammed by them, I've warned you. They are an evil company run by people with zero morals. I am going to report their theft to the FTC, BBB, and law enforcement. I will not go down without a fight and they will regret stealing from me and other affiliates as their reputation sinks in the toilet.
