BOA is great for depositors ith direct deposit, but God forbid you receive a paper check and need to deposit it. My recent deposit is on a two (2) week hold even though funds were verified with the issuing bank. Their website states holds are 2-7 days which I am finding to be untrue. If and/or when they grant me access to my funds, I am changing banks.

Don't use them
June 20, 2023

Don't ever use this bank! That's the minimum I can say to help you. Bunch of incompetent people that hang the phone on you, give you wrong information, hours on the phone and chats and then they close my account because of there incompetent! Now as a result my credit score went down 60 points. Will never use them again for anything!

Set up an estate account. When it distributed, they charged $25 dollars service, and appear to intend to charge it monthly. As her rep, they are holding me liable. Horrible, especially while dealing with a death, and all of this with an account set up for this person by them!

The account minimum balance rule ($1500 daily) and associated fee was a bit confusing. I was charged a fee, called the specialist and was unable to get the refund. I honestly do not know whats the benefit of BoA when compare to other banks who offer more perks/benefits and credit card rewards.

I would advise consider other bank if you have reasonable ATMs neareby your location.

Thanks

Bank of America has TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I needed to ask a question that I could not find the answer to online. I HAD TO WAIT 44 MINUTES on hold to get a customer service rep. I had a similar experience when I called a few months ago. I've been a B of A customer for over 30 years and am now seriously considering changing banks. This poor customer service reflects bad management and is unacceptable!

DON'T USE FOR BUSINESS ACCOUNTS!
Once again, false information given, no accountability. I deposited a large check, asked when funds will be available (I run an event company and have to pay vendors constantly) was told the funds would be available the next day, NOW I'm told they will hold the funds for 11 days. I will be changing banks. Not worth having a business account if you can't use your money to run your business.

Delayed Review
June 9, 2023

When I was new to Si Valley and stock options I took out a 1 year loan to purchase and hold a tranche of stock for one year. This point was agreed to with banker and filed next to loan papers. 6 months in BoA gave my loan to a different broker who called it. There was NO reason as I was employed, had a perfect credit rating and the stock was well above the strike price. I got No where with the chain of command and this double cross ended up costing me $250K. I was not surprised they were Marci g for the FiB. A real low life NO honor outfit

The worst
June 6, 2023

You would think as much money as they steal from us in bs fees they would hire people so you wouldn't wait so long to speak to a representative. Then when you do get someone your an inconvenience and most times they won't help they just tell you to call back. No F that help me now I've wasted enough on this already. They say they are the best in digital but every time they tell you to call.

This bank decided on their own to lock my credit card. They then say that they can't verify me and if I want to use my card I have to go drive to a bank. Not acceptable. I have multiple accounts including checking, credit cards, car loan, and now all of a sudden they can't do their own required verifications so they won't let me use my own account. I'm definitely going into a branch... To close out all of my accounts.

BofA credit cards are completely unreliable payment tool. Here is the story of how BofA blocked my credit card for now reason. Namely, after attempt to pay with my BofA so called "credit card" in the grosery store, guy behind the register showed me a screen with "fraud attempt" message - what an embarrisment... Immediately after, I called BofA customer service and after going trough all possible and imposible motions related to indentity verification - they "unblocked" my credit card. Half hour later after attempt to use the card - it was blocked again (possibly it was never unblocked). Again, I call the "customer service" and again I went trough all kind of verification checks... This time response was: "We can't verify your indentity over the phone - you should go to the bank with ID". It was most idiotic request I ever encounter with BofA "competent" customer service. Since I was intrigued, I called BofA customer service again and after going trough the process, unexpectedly polite agent unblocked my card. Well, card was working wonderfully for a day and guess what? It was blocked again. Again I called customer service and again I've heard the story of going to bank and indetyfying myself. This is all after being a customer for 24 year and being preffered "Platinum Member"- what a joke. This story happened within 48 hours and prior to this, the same card was blocked/unblocked a week ago. Finally advise - don't deal with this idiots. What happens with my credit card could be a sign of BofA insolvency. For those keeping savings there is maybe a time to look elsewhere.

Checking Account
June 1, 2023

I couldn't transfer money between my B OF A accounts. The message stated because of an issue I could not transfer money. I called B OF A and got transferred to 3 different departments. The fraud department told me that the bank has a hold on my accounts that could take up to 30 days. I received no letter from the bank or anything. Then they tell me I can put money into my account but not take it out. Who does that? Once my funds are cleared I am closing my account. How can you hold someone's money without notifying them, then tell them that the account can take direct deposits, but I can't take money out. Ridiculous. That is my money. DO NOT BANK HERE, FOLKS. That is just legal stealing.Pitiful.Go somewhere else...Find a credit union, anything but BANK OF AMERICA...If I could give 0 stars I would...

I have an 790 credit score and I recently applied for a Bank of America credit card and was only approved for a $13,000 credit limit. The last credit card I applied for had a $43,000 credit limit, the card prior to that card had a $55,000 credit limit.I suggest you apply for a credit card through ANY other bank than BoA, the best cards I have had were through Wells Fargo and USAA! I haven't been approved for such a low credit limit since my first year out of high school over 20 years ago.

I made the mistake of letting my husband borrow my cell phone. So, to log into my bank account, I needed my email, PLUS a debit card, and the debit card PIN number. There was a problem with my PIN number, so I called Bank of America. What a NIGHTMARE! Since I didn't call them from my cell phone, but instead the landline, they kept asking for a phone access code. I was like, what the he** is that? I somehow finally got through to a real person after a lot of wrangling. I told her I didn't remember the PIN number to my debit card, and she kept trying to authenticate and verify my identity, and had lots of trouble doing so. What ever happened to just giving someone the last 4 digits of your social, or your mother's maiden name? I told her I didn't know my phone access code. She then asked for my verbal password, which I have NEVER heard of. And she told me I would have to have a temporary phone access code and temporary PIN for that, and then I would set up a permanent access code. What the? Finally my husband got home with my phone. Now I'm like, God HELP me if I ever lose my cell phone. I just cannot follow all of the different codes, PIN numbers, ID's, passwords, etc ect. I realize a bank needs a lot of security, but really? It was very difficult to finally get through to a real person. I'm going to have my husband get a cell phone (he doesn't have one), just to prevent this nightmare in the future. Bank of American relies way too much on AI and automation and all the different codes. There is a user ID and password to login to your bank account, but separate codes (phone access ID's, access ID PIN numbers, verbal passwords) to give people just to talk to them on the phone. Too many codes! VERY confusing and stressful.

BOA sucks- 0 stars
May 19, 2023

I had an auto loan with BOA and tried to refinance. Any branch I called for a payoff letter would tell me they'd transfer me to customer service only to hang up on me, if I went in person it was a 2+ hour wait and if I left and came back I'd lose my spot, I tried to sign up for online banking and I have to wait 3 to 5 days for a temporary password. I've been on hold with customer service for nearly an hour now listening to the same hold music and useless messages about how I can save time by signing up for online banking as if I haven't already tried so I can end this torture. Never opening another account with them again.
