I ordered over $5,000 of furniture from Ballard Designs in Charlotte, NC and both chairs in my order were delivered in the wrong fabric. I called the store they apologized for the issue and reordered for me, however it has been 6 months and I still have not received the correct chairs or even gotten any compensation for their mistake or additional time this has taken. I highly recommend if you need furniture especially anything custom go somewhere else! This is NOT a reliable business.
Do not recommend doing business with this company. They have terrible service. Chair arrived extremely damaged after waiting 2 months have not had to call multiple times to get a refund and still can not get my money back.
I placed an order online. Received an expected delivery date that this Company were unable to make. Called for status and was told that it was still in the warehouse. The lady on the phone told me I was wrong that I could not have an email stating the delivery date because what was entered in their system was accurate and had not change. I decided to cancel the order due to her disbelief. She did not even try to saved it. Oh well, their loss $3,600

This past March 2021 I order 2 Armoire. Beginning on July they finally came. But they were the wrong color after all that wait. So I had the option of waiting for who knows how long for the right ones. So I decided to except them with a discount. And I thought that was great! But as they were unloading them one of them one was very heavily damaged. (Mine you these are by husband and I closet's.) So we have one. It looks nice but the bar inside is not strong. It's not completely full either. But I can't figure out what is happening to the other one? We paid for? We need it! It needs to match. I go on line because I got a order return email. I use the item # to track it and it says that I'm not putting in a item number. I really do need the other one. So are closets will match. My Husband can fix the flimsy bar when he has time! I rarely give a bad review but I need people to know that at this store you my not get what you paid for and you my not get it at all! If o get this resolved I will be sure to let y'all know how it went! By the way Ballard's sent me a email saying they were both delivered. But only one delivered!
I ordered three vigneto shelves from Ballard Designs in March, over three months ago, and each time the estimated shipping date arrives (originally it was 5/27), the third and last shelf gets delayed and I get an email saying the new estimated delivery date is JUNE 28th, well today I got an update that the date has been pushed back to JULY 28. I have been waiting with two shelves in my closet sitting there so I can finally hang them up in my dining area. For months when people come over I have had to explain and will have to explain "there are supposed to be shelves there, and the full set of three still has not arrived since March." My wall where these were meant to go has been bare since March, when I moved in, so I am literally waiting for Ballard Designs so I can be finished decorating my place. It has been three months. Oh, and if you were to place the order for the shelf I am waiting for today, the estimated shipping they give you would be the same as the estimated shipping for mine that I ordered in MARCH. What was the point?
I love Ballard designs decor. It is beautiful. Quality is pretty good and while it is pricey I will splurge at times. I purchased a hanging light fixture back in March and had it shipped to the store. Unfortunately their stores shut down about the same day my item arrived at the local store. I was told it was there and I could get it once they reopened. Fast forward to August 1. I finally found out they had opened again. I called to confirm the item was at the store and it was. I arrived today at 12:30 pm( they open at 12) to pick up my item. What I saw was a line of about 10 people to get into the store. No big deal because many other stores are functioning the same way. BUT After 30 minutes only 3 people had entered the store. After 45 min only 4 people had entered the store and I was still 5th in line. They let one person in for every person who came out. Again this is fine BUT... the store is very large. I saw at least 6 employees wandering around but only saw about three customers and I was looking!. Why do you have so many employees if you aren't letting anywhere near that number of customers in the store? Several people got in line but walked away after they realized the line wasn't budging at all. They did let the Chik -fil-A guy right in with the employees lunch order though...
After an hour wait I gave up. I had another scheduled task and was going to be late.
I respect we have pandemic going on. I will wear my face mask, keep 6 foot distance and clean my hands to protect others. What makes no sense is to have so few customers in a large store( less than the number of employees) and large areas of the store completely devoid of a single person.
I just want my light fixture that I ordered 6 months ago. I won't be shopping at Ballard for awhile at least in person. Most of the other people in line with me were just as frustrated and puzzled by the ratio of employees to customer as I was.
I will be arriving before the store opens tomorrow to get in line so I can retrieve my item. After that it may be quite awhile before I go back.
The sofa was ordered May 3,2022, delivered September 9,2022. The due date promised was in mid August. Refer to the attached photos to see the upholstery work. This is NOT a slipcover. I paid 10K for this quality? I cannot recommend this company. Just awful.
I ordered 2 Large Olive Jar Planters in early 01/2023-Items shipped to incorrect address despite going online with "live chat" and assured order was going to correct address; called by delivery man, order going to wrong address many states away; then spoke with AIT Delivery and assured order was redirected to correct address; order arrived 1 month later, only 1 item from order was received; shipping co said only 1 box was given to them; went online and on phone with Ballard-told I had to reorder another item-o help/poor customer service and I wil Never Order From this company again-problems like this are the reason many US companies are failing and closing-Do not order from this Headache of a site again unless you love stress!
If I could give them zero stars I would. I ordered a desk it was charged July 16,2021 a month later I still didn't have it. I ended up buying another desk and asked them to cancel the order. Today is Sept 2,2021 I have been charged for this item for two billing cycles and I am still trying to get them to process the return. This happened once before. Here's the kicker - they made me pay for the return shipping of $185.00 They have nice items and my house is filled with ballard design furniture - but this was it for me. If a Company is only interested in taking from their customers its a company I will not do business with.
I purchased 3 pendant lights from Ballard Designs. When the eventually arrived, the were't the right size so I followed their return procedure. Two weeks after Ballard had received the lights (according to UPS tracking), I called to find out about my refund. They said they had only received one. After giving them the tracking information they "found" the other two. Their agent said I would receive a refund of $626.46. I only got $595.05. I called again and wasted another 45 minute phone call. They told me their figure was correct, which it was not. I would recommend you by you home products elsewhere, as Ballard Designs is not honest.
I think Ballard does it right! When you call there is no wait and a friendly human answers the phone. Customer service is excellent if there is an issue.
Their upholstery is made in the USA, I think, because the quality is so much better than what many catalogs offer which is usually made in India.
Their regional shippers are courteous and I've never had a problem with damage.
Ballard does an exceptional job with packaging!
I highly recommend Ballard's, especially for case goods and lighting.
I have ordered several custom upholstered pieces from them since buying my home and I am very happy with the quality/price/lead time/etc. I also purchase a lamp, which arrived broken and I was able to make a super speedy (and easy) exchange with them for a new one.
My only complaint is that they can't customize upholstery a bit more. I really wanted to add trim to one of my sofas and they said they couldn't do that, unfortunately. But I was able to have it added by someone local.
Overall, a great experience!
I order brackets for drapes, first round it took 2 wks to receive goods after of the brackets where missing. Order another set. Was told they would be send overnight... 6 days later I received them. Was so mad send them back and went to Pottery Barn, After they received them back 3 wks later NEVER received my credit. Had to once again reach out to them.( I felt like I was on there payroll)Now it takes 7-10 business day for my credit to be processed. 5 weeks to receive a credit How crazy is that... guess business is so tough they need to hold onto your money. If I could I would of given them a ZERO... Pottery Barn is a much more professional. Make that your first stop and skip over Ballard Design!
I left a review about the excessive cost of replacement cushions on the Ballard Designs item page. It was posted…revisiting it, it has magically disappeared. Is it possible the negative comments are removed? In addition to excessive cost of replacement cushions, delivery of the original chair and ottoman I ordered was delivered to my front yard, in the boxes they were shipped in. The delivery people weren't authorized to enter the house. It's worth noting that my front yard is the size of a single driveway (townhouse). Fortunately, it was good weather for wrestling furniture out of giant boxes and moving into my house by myself.
This is an update to my previous review. I upgraded Ballard Designs to a 4 star because of the exceptional customer service, I received. UPS lost or damaged one of the pieces and Ballard sent me a new one very quickly. I did not give a 5 star because the description of the color is wrong. It is not antique silver as described, but it is really antique gold. If you are a painter, you can very easily paint this metal- framed mirror like I did. The mirror sections are very heavy, so it is better to call a good handyman to hang it for you and to get it hung straight, which can be tricky with 3 sections. All the hardware molly bolts are provided. It looks great to fill larger walls.
I am very happy with the look of the mirrors.
I ordered a lamp shade in February. Had to call today to find out it will be at least September before it arrives. I am moving, so I simply asked to change my shipping address. I was told I couldn't and would need to cancel my order and reorder it. Seriously? Such horrible customer service.
I ordered two custom ottomans from BD April 29th, 2022. I was told they should be shipped within 3-4 weeks. After that period of time, I would get these auto emails changing the shipping date. I called customer service in August. "So very sorry, it will now be shipped September 7,2022. Just received email today that the new shipping date will be October 17th, 2022! I am fairly certain that will change. Stay clear of this company! I am canceling this order!
I ordered 2 upholstered chairs and they were never delivered. After 3 calls to customer service and false promises I cancelled the order. A Ballard rep had the nerve to say they would need verification from the delivery company before they can credit my account. Their delivery company, JB Hunt, was impossible to reach. I notified my credit card company to reverse the charge and my account was credited by the credit card company the next day. Do not do business with Ballard Designs.
We are an interior design firm and placed an order for a custom ottoman. We waited for 10 months and then received notification that the ottoman was delivered to our warehouse, but our warehouse had no record of the delivery... it was delivered to an unknown address. When trying to find it, we placed multiple calls with no action. When it was decided that the item may not be located, they told us we had to "go to the back of the line" and wait for another lengthy amount of time for a new item to be made. Ballard's bad policy and bad customer service, even for a repeat client, made my company lose time, credibility with my client, and a lot of money.
I wanted to purchase 6 curtain panels. I knew they were really nothing special and extremely overpriced, but they looked perfect for my room. When I went to check out, the shipping was $155.00! Unbelievable! Needless to say, I CANCELED my order!
Answer: Ordered previous items some years ago but now it is a stressful experience and not worth the headache-poor follow up/poor customer service and the email to the CEO of Ballard Designs and their sister company is bogus-email to both came up undeliverable/another company going on the rocks I suppose-
