AVVO allows anyone, opposing counsel, opposing counsel's client, anyone but an actual client to write a bad review about an attorney.
I have had bad reviews written about me that are 100% false. AVVO will remove the bad review if you pay a subscription fee. Is it a subscription fee or a protection fee?
I wrote a negative review of my attorney. It was posted for a short period of time along with a few other negative reviews. Now all of the negative reviews are gone and only the two good reviews are still posted.
Avvo is junk. I posted my review of a lawyer and it doesn't post. Avvo sends the message to the lawyer for "he" can verify my review. So basically Avvo only let's you post what the lawyer wants you to post. Bull$#*!
I am an attorney with a perfect bar record but don't want to advertise with AVVO. If I have my rating removed (they won't remove the profile), they replace it with boilerplate language saying I have requested that it be removed, insinuating I have done something wrong. The rating is based on their parameters, (colleagues reviews, judge reviews) not just client reviews, which in my case are all positive. This site is a SCAM!
The most useless advice on AVVO is telling people to get a lawyer. How stupid. Surely everyone has considered that option and for whatever reason, is not able to hire an attorney. As if attorneys are free. The person asking the question didn't need to go to AVVO just to hear "get a lawyer." Every time I see that in an answer, I tend to ignore that lawyer. Most questions I have seen on AVVO are not that difficult for a real lawyer to address. At the same time, many questions are so poorly written and far too complicated to want an answer from AVVO. The attorneys also seem to believe that AVVO was the first place the asker went for information. I'm sure that in many cases, AVVO is just an additional source. Lastly, I hate how the attorneys answer the questions as if the asker is a moron, incapable of learning and understanding legal concepts.
Avvo is a scam it is not possible to rate "Kevin Sean Sullivan" "The law offices of Kevin Shawn Sullivan, LLC" so here it is. Do not waste your precious time energy and money on a worthless lying piece of $#*! attorney. Used him only once in my life and it was like he used me. Untrustworthy terrible attitude uncooperative he lives at 33 High St Chelmsford, MA and does scandalous business at 9 Fletcher Street Chelmsford Massachusetts *******.
Do your own due diligence with this guy & then do not hire him Kathleen O'Donnell would be a way better pick.
This pacemaker idiot should have stayed in the pool - idiot!
Copy post paste this in all of your social media throughout the web if you feel like helping other people not get screwed.
Avvo Reviews are fake, all good reviews are written by the attorneys itself read those reviews carefully you will see yourself, that the attorney have written their own review praising themselves try testing avvo by posting a bad review, watch that review will never apprear it will immediately get disqualified, avvo is juts a martketing tool for these corrupt attorneys who are starving for business and making money by cheating innocent people
I would like express my sincere gratitude and apriciation one of my family members received in a situation that required legal assistance from the law firm of Avvo and Associates. The cost was very reasonable, and your service was exceptional! We need more law firms like Avvo and Associates around the country.
My experience has been the lawyers on this site are arrogant, rude and uninformed. In addition, Negative reviews of attorneys on this site are often hidden or difficult to find. By lawyers for lawyers often with lies or lack of candor. Avoid at all costs!
Avvo.com is a ripoff, soon will be report into ripoff.com.
This website is a waste of time and an opportunity affiliate for lawyers to get clients to make money.
This website, avvo.com, is not free unless you have money to hire of their lawyers on their site since it is their intent of what avvo.com was created for.
They never answer a question, but trying to get you to get a lawyer.
They do the worst thing to someone who try to get justice, which is make that person feels he or she is not important unless they have lawyers instead of answer questions people are asking.
Avoo publishes unsubstantiated reviews and refuses to take them down even when they are false. People are using this site to write bad reviews about fellow lawyers and even when AVOO was made aware that this was happening they still published false reviews. As long as AVOO can confirm an email address they do no further research. This site is a sham!
I went thru this lawyer firm, handling an car accident, they could not handle the job, so they reefer me to another lawyer, his name is Andrew Kryder, from day one Andrew is on top of the case, investigates your case, keeps you in formed, and up dates you with any new information about your case. He sees the case thru to the end. Makes sure the client is also happy to the end.
I also had my review turned out by AVVO, don't trust them, they get Attorneys to change or take your real reviews. I am an educator and I wouldn't lie, I"m not an attorney. Don't trust the good reviews, they're not true!
There are truly No Words to express how my Attorney Jerry Bodow has been a true blessing in my life. Jerry an his staff have been family to me and have looked out for me throughout a 7+ year case. They have worked tirelessly hard for me and my family. The support, friendship and love they have shown words can't describe enough. Jerry I am blessed to have you as my attorney and friend. Thank you for all your expertise, friendship and love.
I wrote a review about an Attorney ( Lauren Dowley) and they did not accept it. No swears etc. Just a true review of this lawyer who was totally incompetent!. And Avvo also blocked me from their site when I tried to re write my review. Not right... I will let everyone know about it... Yelp had a true review of Lauren Dowley... type in dowley & mulvena, pc medford, ma on Yelp, and read the Truth about this law firm. Stay away, form them and Avvo... Avvo is a total joke. Only accepts positive reviews. Lol Not kidding of course
AVVO is a total corrupt joke and not a reliable attorney review site if you want to post a negative review. I tried to post a review on an attorney that I hired and my review was denied 3 times even after providing specific failures by the attorney, which they claimed I didn't provide any didetail. What a corrupt joke this AVVO! Don't trust it!
I wrote a review for a attorney his name is Michael larriux I'm not sure of the spelling but he works for office of regional counsel in west palm beach Florida.the review told the truth this guy sucked and he lost my trial. There was a lot on the line my two children are being molested by their father and the gangstalking judge gave him full custody and the gangstalking attorney who is on avo did an absolutely terrible job.my review was not approved by avo. I wrote no profanity nor used violent or threatening language. Avo allows sorry terrible attorneys to have a stage. Every good review on there is a friend or family or that attorney but almost all reviews are lies and when a real person who was a client of an attorney writes an ho eat review they will not publish it because avo gangstalked.if you are a targeted individual I would definitely not recommend even looking at any attorney on this app.
AVVO increases ratings only for academic work, not for real-life success in trying cases. Many of their attorneys who have 10 ratings have never tried a case in their whole career. Further, an attorney who has won every case they tried will not get an increased rating because AVVO does NOT consider the attorney's litigation record. AVVO also does not figure client reviews into a rating; they only figure peer reviews. So an attorney who's "job" is to write articles for a newsletter will have a 10 rating, while an attorney who tries and wins cases may have a 5. DO NOT trust this rating system.
From a client's perspective you get iffy advice and there are lawyers on the site with the highest rating -- '10'-- with not a single client review (or peer review, for that matter.) They raise their rating by answering questions, I guess. The attorney answers to some questions I researched were from attorneys not in my state who were either wrong or 'wronger'-- they told questioners to go hire an attorney (uhh-please!) when they could have sent them to the state office for FREE advice and follow-up. An attorney answered me with a non-answer. I replied 'let me restate the question' and received no additional answers; my comment is also hidden. I've chosen my next attorney from Martindale-Hubbell where they are peer-reviewed and client reviewed. It seems honest and factual.
I asked a few questions about various government corruption and rights of poor people... then I tried to get police to kill me which is sad and ironic as I got off the GPS for dirty drug tests no dirty charges btw.(when I was on parole I'm off now) but. There response to my questions... (from a three day psych hold) I get on there website and I didnt put punuation, and still don't, lol but they all took. Cheap shots at me I mean all of them... I unloaded on them calling them public defenders and I said do you guys side with the government much? Ect. I just wanted to know if you can sue the government for failure to protect.ie police misconduct brutality civil rights. Ect not about your bad childhoods... and I never got my last question answered and my last come back which was... know any lawyer jokes?... becouse ill bet the government does. I hope there better now but honestly ill never know...
Answer: AVVO is managed by attorneys for attorneys. It is a recipe for deception, self-interest and greed.
Answer: I believe it's a scam. There is no correlation between how good an attny is and their avvo rating. Based upon my personal knowledge of several attorneys that i have become very familiar with since unwittingly believing avvo information i would warn people not to trust this site for an impartial assessment of attorneys.
Answer: What is being asserted about rejection of negative reviews is absolutely consistent with my experience. Don't waste your time.
Answer: You actually can't place bad review or rating for attorney anywhere, including Martindale Hubbell or similar websites. Even if bad review is approved and posted, it will be removed by attorney request in a few days.
Answer: Because AVVO is a scam service that inflates attorney ratings, but systematically blocks negative reviews. Avoid at all costs.
Answer: It's BAD! Don't trust AVVO! A lot of attys put 5 STAR reviews about themselves and will have the 1 star reviews removed. BEWARE of your atty if s/ he has a 6.5 or has a lot of 5 STAR reviews and still not a high score
Answer: I am an attorney and had contact with this company years ago when it posted my "profile" without my consent, apparently scraping it from some legitimate source like the state bar website. I was assigned a low rating (6.5/10) based on no reviews whatsoever and encouraged to join and get recommendations from other attorneys on the site to raise my rating. I'm a 20+-year practitioner with no complaints from clients or the bar. Quite simply, it's a scam along the lines of "America's Who's Who" where the people listed in the database are the source of income for the enterprise. If attorneys don't "join" and pay they're added to the database without their consent and assigned a random low rating pulled out of nowhere. I don't see any basis to rely on "Avvo" for attorney recommendations. Try Martindale-Hubbell or recommendations from the local bar association real-life attorneys.
Avvo has a rating of 1.2 stars from 421 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Avvo most frequently mention law firm, state bar and community guidelines. Avvo ranks 74th among Legal Documents sites.
