I've never signed up to these %#*?! And they ignore ever email every call everything when I try to get refunded for a service I never and will never use. In their web site it's impossible to deactivate it cause I can't t validate a password I neve made
It's a very dubious business model, free trial then make it extremely difficult to cancel paid subscription, multiple emails, their website doesn't allow cancellations on line, had to cancel my Visa card to get rid of them!
Stay away from audiobooks.com at all costs! I purchased an audiobook and then needed to go to this website and that website and register here and do this and do that so finally I went to look for the audiobook. It wasn't on my phone. It wasn't on their website. It wasn't on the app. They even said it would be an iTunes. Wrong. So I contacted them was very very explicit about the fact that I could not access the audiobook. I got an email back basically saying we're sorry you had a problem enjoy your book! So I Responded to try to get the answer. The next email that came was paragraphs and paragraphs long explaining how I need to reboot my computer delete the app and reinstall the app other stuff. Unbelievably convoluted. All I asked was how do I access my book. So I requested a refund not once but twice and I was ignored. Until I mentioned that I was planning on filing a report against them for scams to the FTC. Then they responded with another email which was sounded kind of confrontational and he said since I refused assistance they were going to refund my money. Well as I said earlier I gave them very detailed information about what my problem was and the assistance that they gave me was unusable. So if you want to buy a product and not get it And you want the worst possible customer service that can be had go with it! Otherwise buyer beware!
Its a scam site. They deducted money without my permission. I signed up for a free trial and lost 14 dollar immediately. Beware. I REPEAT, DO NOT GIVE YOUR CARD DETAILS. When i mailed them, they told me its the banks problem. But, when i consulted them, they said the site is faulty. I regret signing up for the trial.
When you search a book, beafore being a member. It Will come up. When you then log in, that book is gone. Just a loss of bull$#*! and a big Scam. Only $#*!ty books there. Keep away!
I have always like reading books and I definitely like to listen to stories whenever i my travelling. Audiobooks have so many collection of books i can listen to.
I found out my card got an unauthorized transaction for 27 dollars from Christian Audio books which is related to Audio books. I never used my card to buy an audio book, I spoke to Colin the manager and he's honestly horrible at helping customers. Replies very late and when he would reply, he didn't provide much information. Like someone used my debit card to buy your stupid service. And speaking to the associates it's like they weren't trained to do much. It's quite sad and they need to be trained properly.
Will not do what they offer in their trial. When I applied for their trial service offering my card numbers they said they would allow me to hear at least three audiobooks. They did not. Do not give them your card #s
An author here, and not just a listener-First of all, they require a contract to upload your content. Now the site goes by a subscription, which costs $20 or so, then you can purchase an audio book. Well, I never actually bought, although, I did try to get a free one, but I didn't understand what I was doing because their set up is strange. The subscription aspect is nonsense, therefore, a gouge anyway. That alone is enough of an indicator for costumers to avoid the site.
This review is more from my perspective as an author. After I got the contract dealt with, which took a week longer than it should have because they only check emails once a day (another red flag). This is also fishy-They use a file transfer protocal app, to receive the files.
What bugs me the most is their 2 free audio books feature, which, is now 3 (I've just noticed as I went for the site address). This makes the site not much better than a torrent site, which especially hurts unrecognized content creators. This caused me to loosely promote my audio book on my YouTube channel, because I doubt this site is very popular (I would esentially be giving my book away).
So yeah, everybody just avoid this site, which is obviously a scam site, as I see other reviews as I type this, haha.
Not all books are audibles, and the trial offer was not really clear.
I also got a notification from PayPal saying that "$14,95 USD" were charged by Audibles... why are you charging money during a free trial period?
Avoid.
Like others: the free trial results in an instant charge to your card. I, however, went through Paypal and will contest the fee once it's logged in Paypal activity.
I was looking to buy the next installment of The Walking Dead (Search and Destroy), and as it wasn't available on Audible, found a listing on audiobooks.com via Google. Options on the store page were to listen to it in full or download it during the 'free' 30-day trial. I opted to register, and understanding many online business free trials do require payment information but won't charge until the trial is over, went ahead and completed the form.
Then went back to TWD listing I had open, signed in, which then returns me to the homepage. I do a search for TWD; Search and Destroy. No results. I do a search for TWD, results! I scroll through the available books looking for 'TWD; Search and Destroy' and find it isn't listed. The heck?
Okay, maybe the website isn't updated but the app may be. I search for the book using he app: it's still not listed. Great. Outdated Google reference. Why isn't this book flagged as being unavailable or options not being greyed out?
The only reason I opted to register was for this one book. I'll be contesting the payment with Paypal.
3-stars; great for people to use, but methods and information are lacking.
When you agree to sign up for the free trial, they immediately try to charge (NOT JUST PLACE A HOLD) for $14.99 on your debit/credit card, even though that legally means they cannot charge until the free trial period ends. It seems users have been complaining about this for years. How both blatantly unethical and illegal. If I had more time, I'd sue them. As it stands though, this is why I have my cards set to manually add new merchants over a certain $ transaction amount...
I signed up with audio books to listen while working, it said it was $16.99 per month. Never said you'll be charged for each additional book, so I grabbed a bunch of books and they ended up taking $160 out of my bank account! I only read 3 books so I asked for a refund of $137, and now they are ignoring me. And before the ignored me they said all they would refund is 3 books, they billed me for way more then 3 books. They don't care! They just want people's money! Don't use this audiobooks!
They aren't AUDIBLE! Tried their trial, the first book the volume wad do low i had to listen with earpods, when i attempted to cancel ( yes, attrmpted) i could not cancel on their web page because there is no option to confirm cancelling. Hmmmm, little shadey, after sever emails, screen shots of the problem snd a slow chat service i hope i am cancelled. Learned my lesson.
Advertised 2 books per month. When I asked why I only got one, they waited until the special expired and then replied claiming it never existed. Doesn't a consumer protection act mean anything?
My app on my phone never worked and no matter how many times I called in, they told me the same steps. I got charged for the membership that was suppose to be canceled after the free- trial due to the app was not working and was told it was my fault. However when I called customer service again and spoke to a gal she was the rudest person! She was snarky and flat out rude, it's not my fault that the app was not working and instead of working with me she blamed me. Really! I will go back to reading books the old fashion way at least when I purchase a book I don't have a rude customer services rep telling me it's my fault and then say " I canceled your memebership like 5 minutes ago if you would just look" nobody needs that and I will warn everyone on social media about your company.
Like so many others, they charged my card immediately upon my signing up, even though they say you have 30 days to decide whether you want to keep it. And IF you keep it at that point, they will charge you. NOT TRUE. They lie, lie, lie. And their customer service is horrific. They are like robots with their little scripts in their heads, and they'll just keep repeating the same thing over and over again. This company is disgusting and shameless. We should all report them to every agency that has anything to do with them. There are so many complaints about them online already that they are probably about to be hit with a class action lawsuit. And if not, they certainly should be! They have cost me money in overdraft fees because they charged me when I needed that money for another payment. They have also caused me problems with that company, because my contract says I cannot miss a payment, so they will now cancel my contract because of these lowlifes who couldn't care less! Customer service didn't even apologize for this mess. They're brainwashed and don't know how to use their brains, just their little scripts!
We canceled our membership during the 30 day free trial yet they continue to charge us! $14.95 coming out again!
