Their agreement they make you sign to participate in the remote bidding option they offer states that they are not liable for anything, even in the case of gross negligence or intentional fraud on their employees part.
Would not have believed that if I had not read it for myself. Imagine sending them hundreds of thousands of dollars and knowing that. I have e-mailed them multiple times to get an explanation on that and they won't respond. Low integrity company in my opinion. They also bend every legal rule they can at live auctions, including fake bids in an effort to make more money.
I tried many times to bid homes in my area. I have never received a winning bid and they keep $2,500.00 tied up for a very long time. I even tried bidding close to what they are worth in fair condition. Many of the homes have not even gone through the full foreclosure process and are listed as bank owned. I'm so glad that I finally decided to quit trying this site. Too frustrating. I would hate to think what the closing would look like. Good idea if properly executed. I'm afraid that the foreclosure bargains are gone at this point. I had a lot of luck a few years ago. I only gave an additional star because I feel lucky to have missed on all my bids.
I'm a field services person. I am offered jobs from Auction.com through a third party (technically I'm the third party/subcontractor). I have been to 2 properties and will not accept any more Auction.com jobs. Both properties were occupied and it didn't take long to figure out I was a patsy to harassment for either Auction.com, the mortgagee (bank) or both to a homeowner who was possibly on the brink of likely several different issues already. Not to mention the fee they pay is "single digit" and they expect results handed to them on a silver platter. Ridiculous. I have found this company to be untrustworthy and "anything for a buck".
I had register for a bid and they hold $2,500 deposit for over a week after the action ended and the Seller never accept the highest bid(not mine). I had to call them many times to see my money back.
They did not let me see the property (even holding a Real Estate Broker license), so does not make any sense to me, besides that they told me we are responsible for all unpaid taxes and any lien the property has...
I stopped looking their site and I think they are not serious... so be careful, because you can loose a lot of money with this auction.com scam company.
Just became a winning bidder on auction.com. The comments on this site and others really make me nervous. I already had a bad feeling after being pressured to sign the contract within 2 hours of winning. I'm also really concerned that they will not let me inspect the property, even though it is vacant. I'm beginning to think there is something wrong with this picture...
I read all the reviews and only 1 good review in the bunch. I am starting to believe that this is really all about taking our 2500 deposit and making interest on it. I have bid several times and the next thing I know its up for bid again a week or so later. Why not just list it on MLS if this isn't so. Not happy with whats going on here. Sounds like a scam to me.
We have been buying foreclosures for years. We deal with 5 companies. You guys are the only one in which we can sit here an hour before auction, and still not know if it is cleared or not? What? Leave go get cashiers checks, drive 30 minutes to auction site. Then site updates and says auction cancelled. What? Really? Sucks for loyal buyers, complete waste of time. Just a thought, if the property is not clear 6 hours before the auction, cancel it. It would save the buyers a ton of time. Otherwise we just stay frustrated.
I have had issues with auction.com not putting pictures on their website that are accurate in the description of their homes. They also over inflate the value of their homes. I was currently suspended because I did not sign a contract after winning a bid that I actually did not win but they dropped their bids and the reserve and then declared me the winner. I then decided I should verify the information on the website. Nothing was accurate. Because I didn't go thru with the deal I was retaliated against and suspended.
We won our bid with Auction.com but it is not a user friendly platform. It is strictly buyer beware, and a lot of the information Is confusing.

I work with a lot of investors, and I see a lot of the horror studies with auction.com.
I have attached the link in the description to the video on my YouTube channel that guides you through the site and helps you avoid some of the landmines that can wipe you out.

You will not learn this from auction.com site.
In this new economy, thousands of foreclosures are online and we did not want to miss out or lose our hard earned money. You don't have to either. I welcome any comments or questions

I recently purchased a vacant bank foreclosure on Auction.com and got a very good deal and had a quick, easy and enjoyable experience from bidding to closing. If you do your research and know what to expect it's hassle free and actually is much easier than dealing with non responsive brokers or fussy sellers. Tips: Don't place proxy bids, the site will just bid it up to the reserve, as is disclosed. Don't fight the form contracts, yes they are silly one-sided but you are getting a good deal or otherwise move on. Supply all the required info immediately after you win. Yes you have to pay a 2500$ deposit to bid to keep the fakers out of the bidding. Got it back in a day. Do use a buyers broker as you are paying for the agents anyway and Most importantly do opt to use your own title
Company for the closing.
A year after winning my house on here, I'm sitting here, so comfy, nicest house in town, dream home, and can't believe the horrible reviews and saying its a scam. I'm thankful for these people every single day. Bad reviews must just not have won or didn't get what they expected, which is not auction.com problem. These are foreclosed houses. Never in my dreams would I be able to afford this house, now can add another kid, so much room, if I had a lot of money I would buy so many off of here and fix them up if needed. **************% NOT A SCAM in any way shape or form! Would do it again in a heartbeat!
Tyler was very courteous and suggested some info from the Help Center may be available. I will probably need to give up on the property/asset that I've saved because I can't wait much longer for it to clear for auction. I've purchased 2 others from auction.com, but they were online auctions and this is a foreclosure in person that just doesn't seem to be going anywhere with all the delays.
Great experience with Tyler K., did not find out why this property was all of a sudden pulled after the auction only started today. It was to run to 6/27/2019 but I got some other good info just asking a few questions. Great responses and quick too. Thanks again Tyler K!
We closed on our first auction.com property earlier today and the process from start to finish was very smooth. Fortunately, we chose to ignore the majority of negative reviews as it was clear that almost all of them had clearly not read through the auction.com rules or fine print.
We went into our transaction with open eyes and were not disappointed. The customer service team was amazing. Answered every phone call and returned every email. I had every question answered before I even placed a bid and after we won.
We would absolutely use the site again and be sure to due our due diligence.
How are you getting away with this SCAM? Hundreds of bad reviews. I also believe its all about getting your $2500 deposit. They make a ton of interest and then one day you will hear they just kept all of it! I have seen the same house on here for auction for over a year. Really? Its been bid on but still no sale?
I bought a home on Auction. Com. U are bidding against a computer. I secured the financing yet they told me it was cash only and would not accept it. Then I had no access. I had to use their title company. And at the closing I received no keys no garage door opener there was a lock box on the garage door. That has to be chilled off. They did not take it off when my crew came to start the rehab. Some guy came in started taking photos. Without my knowledge. Or permission I could not get electricity turned on or water. Till I owned the property. And consumers wanted permits and all kinds of paperwork including an inspection. Yet. Auction. Com Keith saying. Do all this before the day of closing. Well I cant if I cant prove I own it. Nor could I get insurance either. They are not helpful. I would never never use a company like this again. I gave a defunct garage opener with no remote and they won't contact the owner to ask them where it is. Horrible! Customer Service is a joke!
Won't let you use your deposit on various properties. Claim it is different event. Deposits should be released immediately.
They extend expiry time for hours even if no one else is bidding. They bid against you to inflate price.
Properties cannot be inspected. They and their sellers try to shaft buyers.
A real $#*! show. I buy from 2 other online auctions without any issues. This is a joke see the reviews there all true. They do a great job marketing there product, however, they jack you around from start to finish, if, you can get it finished...
They deserve no stars. They use terms as "available" means "required". They said the Fannie Mae property was Auction.com's asset. They changed the terms for proof of funds 7 times and still will not submit the winning bid to Fannie Mae. Their listed real estate agents has no information. They refused to put in writing what they said verbally. If it is not a scam, than they are poorly operated, lack professionalism and knowledge. N t
I spent much time reviewing their properties, and considered to buy multiple homes with over xxx, xxx cash. After reading about the shill bidding, poor customer service, and many other issues I am extremely hesitant to even place a bid. Most likely I will not be using your service, unless I see someone step in and address these complaints. As of now, there is not even one person defending your company, and tons of legitimate complaints from people who have used your service, and even a complaint from someone who worked for you. This is frustrating to see, especially after registering and spending much time on your site.
Answer: I believe that the average potential buyer does not do their DUE diligence AHEAD of time. I first, read all the documents attached to the property I was interested in. Second, I drove by the property to check things out. Third, I went to the county recording office to see if there were any liens against them. Fourth, I ran the comps for the houses in the neighborhood and look at the rating for the schools within the district. Fifth, know what your limit is on what your final bid will be and do not bid over that amount just to win the auction. Other tips, try to get ahold of the agent that is representing the property and just ask them if they are willing to let you see the property inside, all they can say is no, right? I hope this helps. Wait, miscellaneous stuff, It is true, all auctions on this site are STRICKLY in favor of the seller... Negotiating is near to none.
Answer: The bank can and will bid against you to get a higher price (shilling). Read the web site. This practice is illegal everywhere else. But get the banks a higher price.
Answer: If you win the auction it is a binding contract. Contracts are to be E signed within like 2hrs I think. Most are sold as is. Due your homework before you buy! Mark
Answer: Have your real estate agent search title. If the property is occupied, you will have to get the people out yourself.
Answer: May we please have the property address you are inquiring about?
Answer: It means that the sale did not go though, there could be many reasons. And they are so opaque you will never find out what the reason was... maybe no financing, maybe spam bidding, maybe the seller backed out...
